"You rged yourself with this separate pocket of the spirit realm... but wouldn’t that cause you to indirectly get inflicted with corruption if this place suffers it too?"
Hearing Rio’s question, Ellie hesitated but then said,
"When I found this place centuries ago, miasma was not so active around it... but ever since I have rged myself with this place, miasma has beco very active around it..."
"It’s been constantly trying to corrupt the grand seal but gets purified again and again... the sa is true for ... I am also in a constant state of corruption and purification..."
Ellie seed to hide many things, but Rio didn’t dare to ask too deeply, as he knew that it might evoke the pain she was desperately trying to forget.
As everyone knows, miasma is a partially self-conscious existence; it likely already had marked Ellie to be its toy the mont she was born in this spirit realm and was corrupted for the first ti.
The more resistance she had towards miasma, the more miasma would patiently try to corrupt and destroy her and the more it would tornt her.
It had done the sa thing to Alverto and Aurora too, and the sa was true for the original Lia, who slowly got corrupted over ti and suffered until the very last breath.
Miasma is the type of ’persistent creep’ who will still keep trying to plot against you no matter how guarded, resistant, or strong you try to beco to go against it.
Once it’s made you a target, you most certainly will not have a good end.
Even the strongest awakener of all ti, King Allen Von Reinhart, seems to have lost the final gamble against it, as he never returned ho after invading the endless sea of miasma.
Obviously, Ellie, who was already being targeted from birth, wouldn’t have managed to slip past its grasp so easily either.
Although the purification enchantnt of the grand seal was helping Ellie heal and purify all the miasma affecting her, she was almost always in a state of constant corruption and purification.
Not only was that extrely burdenso for her soul and mind, but it was also painful to constantly be purified inside out by such powerful purification magic.
Purification magic of this level can even affect a person’s soul, and as it’s not being controlled by a healer and is working automatically, one small mistake would directly purify Ellie’s entire mory from her soul.
In such a situation, the best-case scenario would be losing all mories and becoming a blank slate.
The worst-case scenario would be losing the sea of consciousness and becoming brain dead.
If that happened, she would be a living corpse refusing to rot away.
’Perhaps, being summoned is her way of exploring the outside world, as she can’t go out in person...’
’It’s basically an escape from reality to her...’
Every being that has been born inside the spirit realm is considered a ’Spirit’ by the spirit realm, and they can be summoned by the summoners in the outside world in the form of living projections.
This is the reason why once a summoned beast or entity dies, their projection disappears from existence, and to summon them back, you would need to contact the original entity once again, or you will not summon the sa being ever again.
Like Neo, most summoners nowadays do not care about bonding with their summoned beasts because once they die, it’s near impossible to ever et them again or summon them again.
And in difficult battles and constant dungeon raids, it’s obviously possible for many of the summoned beasts to die and disappear.
If you make friendly bonds with each of your beasts, it would be heartbreaking to see them die and disappear.
Liam, on the other hand, belongs to a very rare category of summoners who actually care about their summoned beasts.
In fact, Liam has never lost a single one of his summoned beasts up until now, even though he has gone through many dungeon raids and many battles.
He’s even fought people like Rio and Link, and yet, his summoned beasts still continue to exist until now.
The main reason for this is how overwhelming and massive Liam’s mana capacity is.
Liam’s very first summoned beast was a peak S-rank shadow dragon that is Ellie!
Even as a non-awakener, Liam already had so much mana in his body that it was enough to summon an S-rank dragon and still have enough left to establish a partnership contract with her.
After getting Ellie’s help, he could store more mana with her help, as she was basically an exterior mana container for him, and later, he even got ’Mana Field,’ which made his mana efficiency so good that he would never run out of mana.
With all these advantages stacked up, Liam’s summoned beasts would get insane support boosts from him and get so strong that they would not be defeated easily even when fighting people like Rio and Link.
This is the main reason why Liam never lost a single one of his summoned beasts; he was just talented enough that it was near impossible to separate him from his summoned beasts.
The only reason he ended up in his current situation is because he was betrayed by his own father, who conspired against him from the very mont of his birth.
’Even the original Rio’s father was not that horrible despite being such a deadbeat person...’
Even Rio’s father, who betrayed his wife’s love, wasn’t horrible enough to kill his own child and conspire against his own family despite being such a deadbeat person.
Even the deadly trail he made for Rio was sothing he made while assuming that his own son would be a talented kid who would be able to clear it one way or another.
’No... he ended up dying; otherwise, he wouldn’t have given that trail to the original Rio after knowing that the original Rio had weak talent... he prepared that trail assuming that his son would be talented...’
’Despite being the world’s greatest assassin, he was not cold-blooded enough when compared to Neo...’
’Neo could do almost anything just for the sake of his plans... if not for Ashtel Rex, Neo would have been ruling humanity like a tyrant I think...’
Neo was very smart and a very good scher; moreover, he was a very powerful summoner.
If Ashtel Rex never existed, Neo would have been the strongest person in the human empire, and he could use his powerful summoned beasts to control each and every city of the nation personally.
It would have been as easy as breathing for him to rule the entire nation without any problems.
"Let’s go. I know this place better than anyone; let show you around..."
Ellie smiled as she led Rio toward the giant door in the distance.
She had spent centuries in this place, and thus she knew every corner of it like the back of her hand, and she was very excited to show it all to Rio.
This was the first ti she had personally t anyone after several centuries, and even if the first visitor to her ho was a stone-faced, emotionless guy, she was still happy to show him around.
