Two and a half years ago, after the Lava Lake Dungeon incident, Liam and Ellie went back to Aldif Mansion for a while.
Unlike the other students, like Rio and Link, who got involved with the demon prince and the teachers who got involved with the demon subordinate of the demon prince, Liam didn’t encounter them at all.
He only ca across the demonized version of Jiang, and even back then, Liam didn’t fight him.
For Liam, the entire Lava Lake incident was just a casual walk in the dungeon; the only incident that changed it all for him was Kira’s betrayal.
Kira, who once used to be an intelligent and smart girl, had beco so short-sighted after falling in love with Fade Crest that she broke his heart into pieces.
But Liam was not a sore loser.
He had always been very calm and intelligent; he wasn’t the type to beco overly sad after getting rejected by the girl he liked.
He did like Kira, but that didn’t an he would sell his self-respect to get her back and plead to her to co back to him after she clearly chose soone else and rejected him.
That’s why Liam decided to move on.
That day, Liam had no idea that Kira had long beco a puppet of the demon prince by then, and he had no idea about it even after he was forcefully sucked inside the spire of ascension.
If not for Ellie, he would have died without ever knowing the truth.
But even if he knew the truth, there was nothing he could do; what had happened in the past could not be changed.
But back when he was first betrayed, although not too sad, it still caused him to feel a bit upset.

"How long are you going to keep thinking about it?"
Ellie looked at Liam, who was sitting on the swing and was stuck in a daze as the wind slowly swayed him back and forth with the swing.
"The cookies you made are quite good... why not enjoy them with ?"
While speaking those words, Ellie leaned her back against the chair she was sitting on.
Her foot was on the tea table, and she was happily nibbling on those sweet cookies while taking sips of juice from the juice glass.

Hearing Liam’s words, Ellie shook her head and spoke.

In that mont, Ellie had no other choice but to lie to Liam.
The shadow dragons were a destroyed race; they were cursed with eternal suffering, and let alone finding partners, they couldn’t even maintain their sanity properly.
Ellie was the last sane and surviving shadow dragon of her race, and there was no way she could possibly find even a sane dragon among her fellow shadow dragons, let alone find a suitable partner.
In fact, after being confined in one place for a thousand years, she was not in her right mind either.
Only after Liam summoned her and signed an equal contract with her on the basis of making her a friend of his did she actually get to stay in the material world for such a long ti for the first ti in centuries!
Liam is the only person Ellie had spent the most ti with in the previous several centuries!

Hearing Liam’s question, Ellie scratched the back of her neck in awkwardness and replied,
"Haha, th-that might actually be true... stop talking about dragons! We were talking about you!"

Ellie had never been to the Dragon Valley; she had no idea what real dragons were like.
Her entire race was suffering and dying every single day; they had no such luxury to laze around and be happy all the ti.
But she could not possibly burden Liam with all these things, as she knew that it was near impossible to do anything for her.
