Yang Ming originally went to town to hire so thugs to go up the mountain with him, but once people heard it was to deal with bandits, no one wanted to co. Not to ntion there were also wild animals to contend with; everyone cherished their lives.
Unable to hire thugs, Yang Ming turned to finding hoodlums, but still ca up empty-handed.
The distance to the governnt office was too far, taking several days for a round trip, and his wife couldn’t wait, nor could he.
So he bought so Sleeping Powder in town and went up the mountain by himself.
He spent quite so ti searching for the bandits’ lair, but fortunately, he eventually followed soone to the hideout.
Yang Ming hadn’t even approached the stockade yet when he heard the sound of drinking gas coming from inside.
Yang Ming’s eyes lit up; his wife must be inside. Only she would play drinking gas.
Then the Sleeping Powder he added to the wine earlier would soon co into play.
So he quietly waited outside, listening for sounds from within. Sure enough, after a while, the sound of drinking gas vanished; he thought everyone must have drunk the wine containing the Sleeping Powder.
He then entered the stockade, thinking his wife must have drunk the wine too, but he didn’t expect her to be completely sober, which led to a series of events afterwards.
He was too anxious, only thinking of buying Sleeping Powder and forgetting to bring weapons to deal with wild animals.
Fortunately, in the end, he returned safely.
Yang Ming was exhausted. Even a body made of iron couldn’t hold up; he slept till the afternoon.
The An Family knew they were worn out, so they left them undisturbed, allowing them to rest as they pleased.
When Yang Ming opened his eyes, he saw his wife lying beside him, and he felt an imnse sense of contentnt. He loved the feeling of waking up to see his wife.
He sat up, stretched, and felt refreshed.
Seeing his wife still asleep, he smiled and pursed his lips. This little lazy cat could sleep longer than him; she must really be worn out.
Considerately, he tugged the quilt up a bit for his wife. She snuggled further under it, and her flushed little face appeared.
Yang Ming’s expression changed instantly. He reached over and touched his wife’s forehead.
So hot!
His wife had a fever.
He hurriedly left the bed and went out the door. The fever dicine that Xue Zhiyi gave them had been used on Shitou’s mother, and he didn’t have any on him for fever now. He needed to buy dicine quickly, as his wife’s fever was quite severe, which explained why she hadn’t woken up yet.
As soon as he exited the house, he ran into An’an’s mother, quickly asking her, "Aunt An, is there a village or nearby village with a doctor?"
"What’s the matter?" An’an’s mother asked worriedly upon hearing Yang Ming’s question.
"My wife has a fever, and I need to quickly buy her dicine. If there’s none nearby, I’ll have to go to town."
"Child, don’t worry, I’ll go have a look." An’an’s mother said, heading to Xiaoxiao’s room, and Yang Ming had no choice but to follow.
Once inside, An’an’s mother saw Xiaoxiao lying there, touched her hot forehead, and said, "Oh, she’s really hot; your wife may have been frightened into having a fever. It’s not easy to catch a fever in this weather."
"..." Frightened? That’s right. Her wife was almost eaten by wolves, and combined with a whole night wandering the mountains, it could very well cause a fever. "Right, scared by wolves. Aunt An, what should we do about the fright?"
"No problem, my family has herbal fever redies. When Xue Zhiyi left, he left us so common herbs, and I’ll fetch them for you."
