Old Yang also chid in, "Aunt Lan Hua, sit down and eat. We can talk about the kids later."

Seeing the younger generation of the Yang Family not speaking, Aunt Lan Hua reluctantly moved to the table with her bowl and chopsticks, "Fine then, in-laws, let’s not stand on ceremony; we’re practically family now anyway. We can discuss the kids later."

This left the Yang Family unsure how to respond. Becoming one family was still up in the air, yet she acted as if they were already close.

Old Yang and Yang Ming’s mother just smiled and didn’t continue the conversation.

Aunt Lan Hua sat down and joined the Yang Family for the al; she certainly didn’t hold back and ate quite a lot. Already having eaten at ho, she polished off two bowls of rice, like a starving person reborn.

The al ended with Aunt Lan Hua’s voracious eating, and at the end, she even burped loudly, which was quite embarrassing.

The table was cleared quickly, and the atmosphere inside turned tense because it was ti to discuss the marriage.

Sure enough, with a full belly, Aunt Lan Hua spoke up, "In-laws, your Yang Dong ca to my house today, saying he’d offer a dowry of six taels. If agreeable, the marriage would proceed, but if not, he’d call it off. You see, isn’t he threatening us?"

This surprised the Yang Family; they knew the fourth son had gone, but not how he negotiated. He didn’t say much when he returned, only ntioned if they didn’t agree by tonight, he’d change his mind tomorrow and wouldn’t marry regardless of the dowry.

Initially, the family’s younger generation all disagreed with it, and the elders remained neutral without pushing the fourth son, thinking maybe they could delay it. But they didn’t expect him to negotiate like this.

Aunt Lan Hua thought that her presence and words would give the Yang elders an out; a hundred taels was too much. Hearing their son threatened, surely they’d scold him, add to the dowry, and seal the deal?

But the Yang elders remained silent, implying they’d leave it all to the children, which sank Aunt Lan Hua’s heart further.

Seems her daughter was right; if they don’t agree, this matter might truly fall through. So she said, "You know, what parent wouldn’t want their daughter to have a better marriage, with a bigger dowry for so clout in the future?"

"But if your family insists on six taels, then six taels it is. As a mother, I can’t let the dowry issue stand in the way of these two kids, right? In-laws, wouldn’t you agree?"

This shocked the Yang Family again. They thought the matter would drag on longer, but didn’t expect the fourth son really had control over the situation. Though six taels was still a considerable sum for this village, compared to a hundred taels, it was way less.

This fourth son is quite capable; if Xiaocui really marries over, he should be able to handle their family, right?

How did Aunt Lan Hua agree to this so easily?

They expressed so disbelief.

Upon hearing this, Old Yang spoke, "Auntie, you’re right, it’s all for the kids."
