Thanks to the sudden and harmonious relationship between the old lady and Xiaoxiao, which was as if they had beco one person, this al was very harmonious. After eating, they also repaid the five taels of silver, and it was only then that Xiaoxiao and her mother-in-law returned ho. Xiaoxiao finally let out a sigh of relief; this day had been even more exhausting than hard labor! Yet, on the way back, she encountered soone she didn’t expect to see.
"Auntie, you’re just getting back, huh?" The new arrival was a girl who looked to be about seventeen or eighteen, quite pretty—Xiaoxiao was stunned by her appearance. You could tell at a glance that she was the gentle type, quite the opposite of Xiaoxiao’s outspoken and chatty nature. Unexpectedly a beauty had erged from the countryside.
"Ah, Hehua, is there sothing you need?" The mother-in-law’s eyes flickered upon seeing Hehua, which indicated there might be so issues.
"Oh, it’s nothing much, I was just checking if my brother Ming had co back yet!" Hehua glanced at Xiaoxiao before speaking.
"This is Yang Ming’s wife, you should call her sister-in-law. Xiaoxiao, this is our neighbor, Hehua." The mother-in-law quickly introduced them.
"Hello, I’m Zhong Xiaoxiao." Xiaoxiao said generously, maintaining proper manners regardless of who the person was.
"Sister-in-law, hello, I’m Hehua, I’ve grown up with brother Ming since we were kids!" Hehua’s innocent-looking eyes seed to Xiaoxiao to carry a hint of provocation!
"..." Huh, the cheap husband’s Little Qingi? Quite pretty and seemingly calculating, who calls soone brother in front of his wife like that, treating oneself like a rival?
"Brother Ming hasn’t co back yet, so I’ll head ho first. I’ll co to look for him when he returns!" Having said that, Hehua walked towards her own house.
Childhood sweethearts, now that’s so juicy gossip! As soon as Xiaoxiao got ho, she imdiately called her sister-in-law to inquire about it. When it ca to who loved gossip the most at ho, no one could beat her sister-in-law.
"Sister-in-law, what’s the deal with Hehua and Yang Ming?"
"How co those two childhood sweethearts didn’t end up together?"
"So, does that an Hehua likes Yang Ming then?"
"And does Yang Ming like Hehua?"
Xiaoxiao asked one question after another.
It turned out that Yang Ming and Hehua really were childhood sweethearts; Yang Ming was twenty, Hehua eighteen. Their families were neighbors, and they always played together as children. Their relationship was indeed very good.
The mother-in-law had indeed intended to match them, but unfortunately, their family was too poor and Hehua’s mother did not agree. Whether Yang Ming liked Hehua or not was unknown.
Xiaoxiao reasoned that he probably did like her; otherwise, why would he hate the original body so much! When that Yang Ming returned, she would just step aside and let them be, as a gesture of goodwill befitting a gentleman!
In the following days, Xiaoxiao wasn’t idle either. She kept busy with Yang Dong, running around buying this and that, and stocked up on all the missing items. They also added stoves to every room in the house! She was happily busy! Finally, they started heating the kang in the house, making it warm. If they hadn’t heated the kang, they really could have frozen to death!
Xiaoxiao also began to fernt sauerkraut. There was a lot of cabbage stored in the cellar at ho, but it wasn’t in a condition to be sold yet. To consider selling, they would probably need to plant a large crop next year, or collect from other families this year. Selling sauerkraut this year seed unlikely due to the lengthy production ti—as long as a month. It would be fine for household consumption, but in order to show it to Shopkeeper Wang and begin mass production, it would take at least two months, and by that ti, the New Year would have already passed. Thinking it over, Xiaoxiao realized that selling sauerkraut wasn’t feasible, but she could try making spicy kimchi as a side dish to accompany drinks!
Xiaoxiao was actually pretty good at making spicy kimchi. Could she say it was because of her pursuit of a star? She had developed a liking for a certain South Korean Oppa and had specifically learned how to make it! Looking back, she thought nothing learned was ever a waste; you never knew when it might co in handy!
