Ni Shiliu beca anxious: "Miss, are you telling the truth? Don’t scare ."
Ni Ruiniang cried out: "We’ve grown up together since we were young, how could I lie to you? Besides, this concerns Brother Fang’s life; how could I possibly spout nonsense about such a serious matter?"
"Quickly untie ; I must go to my aunt and tell her about Brother Fang possibly being used by those bad people. We can’t let Brother Fang be hard by them."
Ni Shiliu was at a loss and shook her head: "But the young master said you cannot be released, or he will sell ."
Ni Ruiniang cursed Wan Lifang in her heart again and continued to cry to Ni Shiliu: "Shiliu, I truly want to spend my life with Brother Fang, I would never harm him. Hurry up and untie , if it’s too late, Brother Fang will be arrested by the Governnt Official."
Ni Shiliu panicked, hesitating whether to untie Ni Ruiniang.
Ni Ruiniang, gritting her teeth, told Ni Shiliu: "I had a miscarriage, the afterbirth did not co out properly. The doctor said I could never get pregnant again. Knowing I can’t bear children, Aunt will definitely keep you to carry on the legacy for the Wan Family, so Brother Fang can’t sell you. Aunt has the final say."
Taking advantage of Ni Shiliu’s shock, she shouted: "Quickly untie , it’ll be too late soon!"
"Yes, yes, I will untie you right now." Ni Shiliu, scared to a shiver, quickly untied Ni Ruiniang.
After being locked up for a few days, Ni Ruiniang was finally freed. She was both crying and laughing, furiously cursing the people of the Wan Family: "A bunch of heartless bastards, to treat in such a way. They say she’s my blood aunt, but can a blood aunt watch her niece being locked up for days without even asking?"
Ni Ruiniang’s hatred toward the Wan Family had reached a point of no return. Ni Shiliu was shocked upon hearing this and hurriedly said: "Miss Cousin, why... why are you cursing the lady?"
With a slap, Ni Ruiniang struck Ni Shiliu across the face: "Pah, you wretched woman, betrayer! Aren’t you a maid from my Ni Family? Now that you’ve been slept with by Wan Lifang a few tis, have you forgotten who your master is? You just wait, once I deal with Wan Lifang, I will deal with you next."
Saying so, she picked up the teapot on the table and smashed it on Ni Shiliu’s head. After knocking Ni Shiliu unconscious, she used the rope that had previously bound her to tie Ni Shiliu up. She dragged her into the inner room, then left the courtyard, intent on looking for Wan Lifang, when suddenly a loud noise erupted from the shop ahead.
Ni Ruiniang frowned and followed the noise. She saw Ms. Ni, Mrs. Ni, and Old Ni fighting with the people of Da Feng Village. Ms. Ni was also crying out: "My Brother Fang isn’t ho, he didn’t kidnap the two kids from your village, get out of here fast. If you don’t leave now, once Scholar cos out, he’ll make you regret it!"
After listening, Ni Ruiniang heaved a sigh of relief, as if God was on her side, and shouted carelessly: "Wan Lifang is ho; he has kidnapped two kids and is holding them at his place. Hurry in and search; if you’re too late, Wan Lifang will kill the two kids!"
The surroundings instantly went silent, then Village Chief He and others, including Old Fu who had been guarding the door and not daring to rush in, all stord into the Wan Family’s house. They asked Ni Ruiniang: "Is what you’re saying really true?"
Old Fu added: "Making false testimony at this ti amounts to perjury; you could end up in prison."
Ni Ruiniang, deeply hating the Wan Family, whether or not Wan Lifang kidnapped any children, was determined to make the Wan Family and Wan Lifang pay a price. She imdiately swore: "I, Ni Ruiniang, swear that if there is a single lie in my words, may my entire family, all branches and relatives, et an ill fate!"
Coincidentally, these branches and relatives also included the Wan Family.
Ms. Ni was so infuriated that she jumped out and scolded: "Ni Ruiniang, you white-eyed wolf, such lies can provoke divine punishnt like a thunderstrike."
Unfortunately for her, the heavens seed to be on Ni Ruiniang’s side this ti, and no thunderbolt descended.
Old Fu imdiately ordered: "Seal all entrances to the Wan Family’s ho, don’t let anyone out, and go to Si Li Square to call Old Kong and others to co help."
He then said to Village Chief He: "Now that we have a witness, let’s quickly search the Wan Family’s house!"
Lu Haozi and his wife, along with their cousins, couldn’t wait any longer and imdiately rushed into the Wan Family’s ho to search for the children.
Wan Lifang was feeding Lu Shuiwa and his sister so mixed grain cakes when he suddenly heard the chaos outside. It seed like a large group of people was rushing towards this place. His heart panicked, and he quickly stuffed the mouths of the two children with a hemp cloth to keep them from making noise.
"What’s this room for? Open it quickly, we’re going in to search," Old Fu demanded, pointing to the old storeroom.
Old Ni replied, "This is just an old storeroom that’s empty. You all have been searching for half an hour and found nothing. It’s ti to leave, isn’t it?"
"Leave? Ni Ruiniang said it herself; Wan Lifang kidnapped two children and brought them back here. We won’t leave without finding the children!" Lu Haozi’s daughter-in-law was screaming like a madwoman. Finally, having so hope of finding the children, if they ended up not being found, she would rather be dead, and the Lu Family would disown her.
Upon hearing their mother’s voice, Lu Shuiwa and his sister imdiately started crying loudly, the muffled sobs made Wan Lifang so panicked he began to harbor thoughts of killing them.
Thinking to himself, if the children were dead and he threw their corpses out of the window, even if the Governnt Officials rushed in and found him, there would be no evidence to arrest him, right?
Wan Lifang was so frightened that he was out of his senses. Any person with a mont of clarity wouldn’t have such a foolish idea.
But in that mont, all he wanted to do was to kill Lu Shuiwa and his sister, feeling that once they were dead, he would be cleared of any wrongdoing, and all of this could be as if it had never happened.
Unfortunately, just as his hands were reaching for Lu Shuiwa’s throat, the storeroom door was smashed open by Old Fu and two Governnt Officials with a wooden post.
With a loud bang, the door shattered, and the group saw Wan Lifang strangling the children – it was definitive evidence of his guilt.
Lu Haozi and his wife rushed over imdiately, one knocked down Wan Lifang while the other swung fists at him: "You beast, you dared to kidnap our children and even think about murder, you’re worse than an animal!"
Seeing this, Ni Ruiniang also charged over, fiercely stomping on Wan Lifang several tis, aiming at places that could cripple him.
Wan Lifang was screaming non-stop, pleading, "Stop, spare my life, I didn’t kidnap the children, I found them on the road."
"Spit! You can say such things? I saw with my own eyes how you tied up the two kids from the back door and brought them here, you even wanted to kill them. All of us have seen it," Ni Ruiniang would say any lie to ruin Wan Lifang.
Ms. Ni was stunned... Did Brother Fang really kidnap two kids from Da Feng Village and was about to strangle them just now?
She couldn’t take this shock and fainted with a loud cry.
Lu Gen Sheng quickly unbound Lu Shuiwa and his sister, and Lu Haozi’s daughter-in-law hurried over to embrace the two children, comforting them. The mother and her two children were hugging each other and crying their hearts out.
After Wan Lifang was beaten to near death, Old Fu finally called a stop and had Wan Lifang tied up before questioning Lu Shuiwa.
Lu Shuiwa was a smart boy, and despite the terror he had endured for a day and a night, he was still clear-minded. Crying, he thoroughly explained how Wan Lifang offered him money to send a ssage to Gu Yui, how he threatened them, how he tied up him and his sister, how a group of evildoers was led to Da Feng Village to capture Gu Yui, and how he and his sister were abducted back to the Wan Family house by Wan Lifang.
At the end, he cried out, "Wan Lifang wanted to kill and my sister. Father, Mother, I was scared, wuu wuu wuu..."
Lu Zao’er was nearly scared senseless. Seeing her brother cry, she also burst into tears.
"That’s enough, with conclusive evidence, Wan Lifang can’t escape this ti," after capturing Wan Lifang, Old Fu had soone fetch Scholar Wan.
Scholar Wan, despite being a Scholar, had allowed his household to co to this. According to Great Chu Criminal Law, he, too, should be punished.
