Fenix found his entire body unable to move. Even when he tried to use his own Aubility Power, there seed to be a sinister manacle that restrained him from moving anywhere he wanted.
He looked down, only to see shadow tendrils now wrapped around his ankles.
"What… what's happening?" he asked out loud.
But it was only now that he realized that the cheers and excited shouts from the crowd had already disappeared. The only thing that was left was his own voice echoing out into the void.
"Urgh…"
Fenix struggled to unsheathe his sword. It took him every inch of his willpower to finally take out the blade to try and sever the black tendrils that had taken him for a prisoner.
"Why are you trying to run away? I thought that you didn't want to do anything anymore?"
He looked around and searched for that voice. It ca from the sli, there was no doubt about it.
He should have known. He shouldn't have trusted such a weird creature suddenly appearing out of nowhere.
Fenix raised his sword and swung it at the tendrils at his feet. The bleed passed through it like it was made out of smoke. But despite that, it still grabbed ahold of him and never let go.
"What do you want?!" Fenix scread aloud.
Fudge lood behind him. "You made a mistake. You said that you didn't think my Master could cure you. That is disrespect that cannot be passed by."
Fenix frowned. What was the sli talking about? It was angry because he said that his Master couldn't do sothing that nobody could cure? Of course he couldn't! The Order of the Heavenly Knights spared no expense, sought after every healer out there including Sinclair, but it was to no avail.
His affliction was permanent. It's not anyone's fault. That was just how it was.
"We could have done this amicably, now, you've forced my hand," Fudge said ominously.
At this point, Fenix realized that he was being targeted by a powerful creature. Even if his Aubility Power was debuffed by his injury, his physical body was still in the 7th stage of Body Formation.
Yet even with that, Fenix couldn't even move his body from the tendrils. This made him realize that this sli was actually far above the 7th stage already. Probably in the peak of the Body Formation realm!
"Kill if that's what you want to do," Fenix said.
The sli laughed. "Hahaha, no. You are hereby sentenced with…"
Fenix gulped.
"With eating ice cream!"
Suddenly, a shadow tendril appeared in front of Fenix, carrying a cone of chocolate dipped ice cream.
"..."
Huh? Fenix didn' t know what he was looking at. Was this so kind of torture thod that he didn't know about?
"Is this so kind of poison?"
"What? No! It's our newest product! You should try it out!"
And while Fenix was in the middle of trying to figure out if this was the devil trying to trick him into accepting a devious deal, he suddenly saw a blur on the side of his head.
A new figure erged out of the darkness. A womanly figure. To be exact, it was a demi-human with scales familiar to that of a draconian.
This woman raised her hand and smacked the sli in the head.
"Mister Fudge!"
"Owwiiieee," Fudge groaned, a visible lump appearing on his head. "Miss Sheina…"
Sheina then quickly turned to Fenix and bowed towards him. And in a split second, the shadowy tendrils that kept him fettered suddenly disappeared.
"I am deeply sorry for the actions of Fudge. He ans well," she said.
Fenix massaged his wrists. "Who are you people?"
Sheina bead with a happy smile. "We are from the Reborn company, and we are here to tell you of a wondrous opportunity. We would like to be your sponsor during the exhibition match tomorrow."
Fenix stopped as soon as he heard that. Sponsor?
"Wait, is that what this whole thing has been about?"
Fudge slithered atop Fenix's head and looked down at his head. "Yeah. What did you think it was?"
Fenix didn't know if he should laugh or be angry at this weird turn of events. Here he thought he was going to die!
"And why should I accept your sponsor after what happened? I'm not sure I trust people who do this sort of thing. Your company is full of weird people!"
Sheina looked at the swordsman with an amicable smile. But sohow, Fenix couldn't help but shiver at the sight.
Sohow, this smiling demi-human was more terrifying than the sli monster who took hostage of him! He felt as if he was actually in front of the devil!
Thankfully, after a few seconds, Sheina realized what she was doing and finally snapped out of it.
"Ahem, I will forgive you for that. You do not know what you are talking about. Lord Michael is not a weirdo, you will know that soon enough."
Fenix was still confused as he was before.
"Anyway, despite Fudge's less-than friendly attempt to talk to you, we actually do want to cooperate with you. We believe that we can help you with your current problem. Your Sword Heart. We can fix it."
Fenix took a step back as he felt an ache from his scar. He subconsciously scratched it, before he shook his head and realized the inevitable.
"I've heard that before. And they all lead to the sa road as before. Nothing can be done. No amount of herbs, dicine or surgery that you want to do, nothing will fix what was already broken."
Sheina looked at the man. He did look broken after heartbreak after heartbreak.
"This is different. Lord Michael is not soone who makes a promise he can't fulfill."
Fenix still looked unconvinced. He turned around. "I'm free to go, right? You won't force ?"
Sheina nodded. "Yes. But if you want to believe one more ti, then we're here. You only need to take a leap once."
Just as Fenix was about to walk away, he stopped in his tracks. Then, he turned around.
"Heck it. I want to be a swordsman!"
