Fudge waved goodbye as Yuna and her escorts departed on Reborn buses towards Kingsbridge City.
They were going to stop by the capital of the Kings region first before they journeyed to the Parched Lands.
Despite how much Fudge wanted to join Yuna and tell her all about his ninja escapades, Fudge had to go sowhere else today. No matter how tempting it was to hear how fascinated she was about him being a good ninja, Fudge couldn't forget his responsibilities.
But maybe, he could slip by in their carriage for just a few days?
"No! I have a job to do…" Fudge scolded himself.
He looked around Maplewood village and saw the local inhabitants minding their own business, completely ignoring his existence—just like a good ninja.
When he confird that no one was looking at him, Fudge descended into the shadow of a house and disappeared completely, reappearing in a vastly different space.
There was nothing but darkness around in this new place, except for a dim ray of light that illuminated the corner of the room where a person sat comfortably in a chair.
This person looked completely relaxed, casually sipping tea as Fudge ascended from the shadows. It seed that this person expected to see the ninja sli.
"Fudge…our usual etings aren't till two days later. Is there sothing urgent you want to report?" the person asked, their voice having a hint of boredom in its tone.
"Yes, I have sothing amazing to share," Fudge replied as he bowed towards this person in the room.
"Well? What is it? Don't leave hanging and save from the monotony and dullness of my life during these past few days," the person said expectantly.
Fudge skipped closer to the person. "I was monitoring the borders of the Kings region, performing my usual checks to observe everything that was coming in and out of the territory, when all of a sudden, I saw a squirrel dart past my eyes. I chased after it, thinking it was an enemy. But it turned out that I was wrong—"
"Fudge. Get to the point," the person interrupted, completely annoyed at Fudge's tendencies to stray too far away from the subject at hand.
"Right," Fudge replied. "After that, we t so people who ca from the Queens region…long story short, I found her. I found the perfect match for my Master!"
The person sitting in the corner went silent for a few seconds.
Then, they leaned forward, letting the thin ray of light finally shine a light on their face.
Her radiant blue eyes were reminiscent of Michael's eyes.
It was Lylia Vanderbilt! It seed that she was the one who had been indulging in Fudge's little 'club' that he was trying to form.
Since she was Michael's mother, she was the President of their Michael Club, with Fudge serving as the Servant in the Shadows.
Usually, their etings consisted of Fudge reporting to Lylia about everything that Michael was doing on a day-to-day basis. This included what he ate for breakfast, dinner, and lunch, as well as who he spent it with.
But as Michael's business began to spread across the Kings region, and possibly even further, both Fudge and Lylia knew that they had to get more mbers to help them manage the club in the shadows.
They had plenty of other mbers, Rebornians who had the talent to beco a ninja like Fudge. However, they were just surface-level mbers. They still needed so high-level officers in their club.
As of now, no one worthy had yet to show up for them to give this precious spot to.
That was until Fudge seed to have found the perfect candidate in Yuna Montgory.
Even though Fudge's motivation to make Yuna into Michael's partner was completely backed by a selfish reason, mostly because he wanted to get pet by her all the ti, Fudge still thought that Yuna was a potential candidate even by Lylia's standard.
Fudge couldn't explain it, but it seed as if Yuna was the perfect match for Michael, and vice versa.
That was why Fudge wanted to plan a little sche to get the two of them together, just to test the waters.
But of course, none of this would matter if Lylia deed her as unworthy.
"You think so, huh? Interesting…tell more," Lylia said with a mysterious smile on her lips.

…
anwhile, unaware of his wife's scheming, Bart Vanderbilt took his personal automobile gifted to him by his son into the Magic Tower of Kingsbridge City.
As he entered the tower, the mages and wizards working on the first floor greeted him with a friendly smile, which he reciprocated with a greeting of his own.
This was not the first ti he had been in the Magic Tower this week.
Ever since he had given up on managing the Vanderbilt business in the Kings region, Bart found himself out of work and bored out of his mind.
Thankfully, it seed that he was not the only one. He unexpectedly found a friend in Seberus Augindore, the 8-star Tower Master of the Kings region.
Michael had been far too busy managing his business and his nation these days, so the Tower Master had no other high-skilled player to play against.
It turned out that Bart was quite talented in chess, so the two of them played frequently to pass the ti.
They spent most of their days sipping beer and playing chess in the Magic Tower, improving their skills through friendly competitions.
…
"Ah, good friend!" Seberus greeted Bart. "Do you mind if we practice a few of my openings? I can't let myself be beaten by the young 'uns in our competition."
Bart had just entered Seberus' room, but the chessboard was already arranged perfectly.
"Sure," Bart replied. "But we must use a stopwatch. I need to work on thinking fast during a ga."
The two quickly started their ga with much enthusiasm and liveliness.
But just as they were about to start, Seberus suddenly heard an apologetic wizard's voice transmit into the room.
"Sorry to interrupt, Tower Master. There's soone here to see you. Her na is Yuna."
