Michael was speechless. He didn't think she'd recognize him because they were only acquainted once he had been Reborn!
Yuna shook her head before massaging her temples. "Is this... is this a dream?" she asked.
A dream?
Those few words from Yuna was like a bombshell that dropped in front of Michael.
This whole experience was supposed to have only been an illusion, sothing that was completely fake and only made in the confines of his own mind.
But judging from the fact that even Yuna seed to have been pulled into this world ant that sothing else was happening entirely. Maybe this world wasn't as fake as he thought it would be.
"Yuna-"
As he tried to reach out to her and talk to her, he suddenly felt a tugging force pulling him backwards. It was inescapable, like a black hole yanking on his very soul.
Then, the world around him seed to warp, stretching forwards like rubber until finally, he saw himself in a completely different environnt.
He looked around, only to see himself standing in the middle of a busy street.
There were carriages being pulled by horses beside him, so others using a rickshaw.
Carriages?
As he was taking in the new environnt, soone accidentally bumped shoulders with him.
"Sorry," he apologized.
The man seed annoyed. "Don't stand around, man. There are lots of people walking around here."
Despite being scolded, Michael just stared at the man with a shocked face.
The man he just bumped into was soone who wielded magic! And not just any magic, but all eight of them!
As impossible as it may have sounded, the seemingly normal guy he just bumped into was also soone who could use Unity!
He knew this because he could feel the movents of the mana in the air exhibit the sa reactions as it would have if he ssed with it.
And as he looked around at the people around him, he realized that this wasn't a special case at all.
Everyone around him had eight elental masteries.
What the hell? I don't recognize any of these people. And where am I? This isn't the Nation of Reborn.
After seeing the horse-drawn carriages, he thought he finally returned to the Royal Continent.
But he didn't recognize this place. None of these people were
Rebornians who he had awakened.
As far as he knew, people who could wield Unity had long gone past extinct before he was able to awaken more.
"Excuse , but where is this?" he asked a walking pedestrian.
A woman wearing what seed to be a kimono paused and looked at him strangely.
"Are you lost, boy?" said the woman.
"Lost?"
Michael looked at himself, and finally realized that he was back at his 13 year old self. He beca Michael Vanderbilt once again! "This is Terra," she answered. "If you're lost, then you should head over to the church. I'm sure the goddess would answer your prayers." Although her intentions seed to be good, her advice wasn't all that helpful at all. Prayers won't get him the answers he needs. He needed a map.
"Is this place owned by a Duke or a Duchess? Maybe I can ask for their help," he said to the woman.
She just laughed at his words. "Fufufu... how funny. Why would this place be owned by a human? That's preposterous. Only a Goddess could own the land."
I'm guessing this place is very far from the Royal Continent if it doesn't follow the conventional rules of society.
"I'll take you there," she said, taking his hand and leading him through the busy streets and into a giant church made out of white listone.
"What church is this?" he asked her, rubbing his hands across the unknown symbols etched on the walls.
"It's the Church of Gaia, of course!"
Michael just stood there in utter shock as the woman continued on inside.
Gaia? Does she an the Gaia that the Vampires worship?!
He couldn't believe that there would be a church, which seed to be newly built, dedicated to Gaia. According to the Vampires, all churches and religious relics of that religion were either lost in ti, destroyed, or buried under the lands.
If this church was still here, then the Vampires should have found it by now.
Unless...
A guess was starting to form on his head. It would explain all the things he had seen in this strange new town.
And as he walked further inside the church, he saw sothing that further solidified his conclusion.
He saw a female priest, praying up to a statue of a goddess, wearing a genuine Mithril Artifact necklace.
He didn't make that Mithril Artifact. All weapons were strictly monitored by him and the Dwarves, aning that he would have known if there was ever a necklace like that.
Right now, he was seeing things that were supposed to have been extinct.
There was only one possibility.
Am I back in the Ancient Era?
That was the only explanation he could think of that would explain
the people mastering Unity, the church, and the Mithril Artifact. Just then, the helpful woman walked up to the female priest and mumbled sothing to her. Then, she pointed at Michael. "Ah, I see. We can certainly help the lost," said the female priest. "Co child. Tell Gaia what troubles you."
Michael shook his head. "No thank you," he said.
In truth, he wasn't much of a believer of religion. Praying wasn't his sort of thing.
"Alright," said the female priest. "Then let Gaia handle everything."
Then, she walked up to the goddess statue in the middle of the altar kneeled in front of it.
She grasped her Mithril Artifact bead necklace and kissed it with her lips.
"Oh dear Gaia..."
She began mumbling prayers to the goddess.
And then suddenly, a white light ca from the ceiling, shining down on the altar.
"The Goddess has answered your prayers," said the female priest. "She will answer any of your questions."
Michael looked at the ray of light shining down from the ceiling with confusion.
It wasn't made out of mana. It wasn't even made out of Aubility Power.
It was made out of sothing else entirely, sothing that he couldn't understand.
The only thing he felt from the ray of light was its...divinity.
Is this still a hallucination?
At this point, he was wondering if he was still under the effects of the mushroom. Things were far too real for it to simply be an illusion made by his own mind.
He walked up to the ray of light, letting it envelop him in its entirety.
Then, the light subsided.
As he opened his eyes, he saw himself once again in a different environnt.
He saw nothing but a horizon field with nothing but white clouds.
And in front of him, he saw the figure of a giant woman looking down at him.
"Hehehehe.... It's been a long ti. You missed ?"
As soon as Michael heard those words, he realized who it was.
"It's you." She was the Goddess who made him reincarnate in the first place! She was the one who made him have an accidental death!
