Chapter 827: In with the baseball

“Baseball?” Chief Lupan asked, completely clueless.

After what Michael just heard from the Brownblood Chief, it seed that the competitions in the Lunar Celebrations were nothing more than a sports festival for Werewolves.

It seed fitting as well, since the Werewolf Chiefs seed to have a penchant for childish pranks echoing back to youth in their school days.

Going by that logic, what better sports was there to introduce other than the national sport of Reborn? Baseball!

When he first heard about the change in the Lunar Celebrations, Michael wanted to urge Chief Lupan to continue with the swordsman tournant. After all, he was quite confident in Jaku’s skills, despite his debilitating flaw of being lazy. The Dragonborn had a SS-class talent in the sword, after all.

No matter how talented or how powerful those guys from the Lionheart family were, they had no chance against soone like Jaku, especially with his unique advantages like his Natural Maugnetism as well as newly discovered Ancient Roar.

He wanted Jaku to compete and be well known within the Werewolf tribes, as well as the other Beastfolks in general.

But then he had a thought.

What if he took this chance to introduce baseball instead?

Chief Lupan did say that the swordsman tournant would still happen, only this ti, it was arranged by the Spined Fur tribe instead of the Brownbloods.

And according to the Lunar Celebrations rule, all tribes would participate in that tournant to showcase their natural physical talents.

This ant that Jaku would still get a chance to show off his skills! anwhile, the Brownblood tribe would then introduce the wonderful sport of Baseball to the rest of New Sparta.

It was like killing two birds with a 160 kph fastball!

“I have never heard of this… baseball,” Chief Lupan muttered with doubt.

Michael smiled. “Well, you’re in for a treat.”

Baseball was a very physical sport. It required trendous hand-to-eye coordination as well as synergy with the body in order to hit a ball that would go across the field and out the arena. The sa went with pitching.

And with how much Werewolves liked to brag about their physical attributes, he had a feeling that they were going to like baseball as much as he did.

“I’ll show it to you,” Michael said enthusiastically. “Is there any flat open space here in the forest?”

Intrigued and curious, Chief Lupan led Michael to a desolate area a few hundred ters away from the main residential area of the tribe.

This place was flat and devoid of any trees. After all, this was where they harvested their wood in order to construct all the cabins in their tribe, as well as the giant bonfire they used for their worship to the moon.

This was the perfect area for creating a new baseball field.

Michael went ahead and started the preparations, conjuring multiple magic circles in the air.

Chief Lupan went wide-eyed as he saw large stone pillars suddenly erge from the bottom of the brown magic circles, before they dropped down and created a flat stamp on the ground. This process continued until a 4 acre area for the playing field.

“You’re quite talented in Earth magic, young Keo. I would not have expected that from a historian. But you are a protege, after all…,” Chief Lupan complinted, nodding at Michael’s simple demonstration of one of his talents.

Then, a giant taphysical disembodied hand burst out of a giant magic circle, before floating down to the ground and grabbing a handful of dirt from a place far away from the field. Then, like a giant excavator, it opened its hand and released it in the middle of the field, creating the beginnings of a pitcher’s mound.

With a little bit of shaping and pounding, the mound was finally finished. Michael made sure that it would have passed an MLB inspection.

Then, with a little bit of simple marking magic, he created a diamond shape in the bottom of the field, with each corner having the corresponding base.

“It’s done!” Michael heaved.

Chief Lupan looked over the newly finished field, neither excited nor disappointed. “This is where ‘baseball’ is going to be played? Are we supposed to stay inside that diamond, and whoever leaves will lose?”

“No, no,” Michael corrected. “You’ll have to hit a ball and go through…”

He explained the basic rules of baseball, but he could see that Chief Lupan had a hard ti understanding it.

“It’s much easier to understand if you see it for yourself,” Michael said. “Wait a minute here.”

“A minute?” Chief Lupan muttered to himself, confused at the terminology.

But before he could ask Michael, he suddenly saw a shadow erge from the boy’s feet and envelop him in a do-like cocoon.

A mont later, he was gone.

“Teleportation magic?!”

Chief Lupan couldn’t help but start to reevaluate his thoughts about Keo, Professor Lichtenstein’s student. It seed that he underestimated the little historian. As far as he knew, only those geniuses from the Guild of Arcana were able to perform such use of teleportation magic.

Then, a few minutes later, Michael returned as he promised.

This ti, a large shadow do cocoon appeared in the middle of the field, startling Chief Lupan even more.

Once the shadow cascaded back into the ground, he saw multiple people standing there beside Michael. There must have been more than twenty of them!

So were demi-human, most were human, and there were even those who looked like Jaku—a demi-human with a mix of dragon and lizard.

Michael stepped up and introduced them. “Chief Lupan, these are my friends. I brought them here to show you how to play baseball.”

He brought with him players from the famous All-Star players from the RLB or Reborn League Baseball.

He made sure to bring his best players because they would be playing with the Werewolves later, and not only did they have imnse physical strength, but they also had Aubility Powers to boot!

“We’ll be playing against ourselves for now. I’ll be giving you the rules as they play.”

With a clap from Michael, the players began to take their places within the mound.

Chief Lupan wordlessly observed the players. They were mortal, those without a GodForge piece or a Dao Heart.

But despite that, he could feel a sense of pressure from their eyes. And coupled with the yellow and gold uniform they all wore, they looked like a battle-hardened veteran army sent to another war.

With a whistle, the baseball ga started, with a Red Mankey demi-human pitching. It was followed by a satisfying dink before the ball flew to the skies, before falling down perfectly into a Satyr’s gloved hands in the outfield.

“The objective of the ga is to go to the ho plate and score…,” Michael explained.

Chief Lupan was smart and picked up on the ga easily, supporting his learning by asking Michael good questions regarding the rules of the ga like a foul ball, balk, etc.

And as the Werewolf Chief continued to watch, he found himself inextricably observing the batter’s movents as he waited patiently for that ball to arrive in his perfect spot.

And when it did, Chief Lupan tensed his body, imagining himself hitting that ball out of the park.
