[Ding! Congratulations on acquiring [mory Reading] - Gold, [mory Bullet] - Gold]

[Ding! [Lucky Star] - Gold has triggered, guaranteeing the designated drop — [Specialization Type Talent] - Purple.]

...

A voice as beautiful as the sounds of nature rang in Riku's mind, and then, an unseen and boundless energy surged into every bone and limb of his body.

Specialization Type Nen Talent - Purple!

He had previously obtained one of Neon's Specialization Type talents - Gold!

Although the talent bonus this ti didn't directly break through to the next realm, it still allowed Riku's talent to make significant progress.

Things like talent are essentially a baseline; whether one gets half the result with twice the effort, or twice the result with half the effort, depends entirely on talent.

Specialization Type is a very rare System Trait, which was definitely an unexpected and delightful surprise for Riku.

System Trait: [mory Reading] - Gold Description: The possessor can read the target's mories by touching their body and asking a question.System Trait: [mory Bullet] - Gold Description: Conjures the read mories into bullets and loads them into a conjured gun. By shooting, the mories can be passed on to others, allowing them to acquire these mories. If the mory bullet is shot back into the original owner of the mory, it can cause the target to lose their mory, or even revert to a baby-like state.

Pakunoda's mber number in the Troupe was 9, and she was an absolutely indispensable existence to their entire team.

Her importance goes without saying!

The effects of the two golden traits: the first allows reading the opponent's mory just by touching them and asking a question.

The second can turn relevant mories into bullets and pass them to others. If this mory is passed to the person whose mory was copied, it creates a neutralizing effect of 1 minus 1 equals 0, making the target completely lose their mory.

A very nice ability.

At the very least... in this Hunter world, finding a similar ability is extrely difficult.

In Riku's impression, probably only Pakunoda possessed the ability to read mories.

Perfect.

Now, all of these belonged to him.

The only slight regret was that his Lucky Star trait could only be triggered once a day. That ant if other Phantom Troupe mbers were revealed today, and had good traits, they might not necessarily drop.

Killing the opponent guarantees a 100 percent chance to plunder their trait, but it is also random; there is no guarantee the specific desired trait can be plundered.

Of course.

If the opponent's traits didn't hold much value for Riku, he could just kill them at any ti.

anwhile, at this very mont.

Inside the underground vault.

It was already a complete ss. The residual heat of scorching high temperatures lingered, surrounding the aftermath of an explosion.

The heavy core doors had been blown away, landing who knows where.

A few figures covered in wounds stumbled out wretchedly.

Uvogin looked like he had been scorched. His reaction just now had been too rushed; he didn't even have the chance to protect Pakunoda, and could only manage to shield Kortopi, a mber equally crucial to the entire team.

Kortopi's ability allowed him to replicate any lifeless or immobile object he touched, and the replicated object retained the sa functions as the original.

Moreover, he could sense the location of the replicas, as the replicas functioned similarly to En.

The only downside was that these replicas would disappear within 24 hours.

But even so, this ability was extrely vital to the entire Troupe.

Nobunaga looked even more miserable. The katana in his hand had snapped, and one of his arms was broken from the explosion. He looked utterly wretched, as if he had been run over head-on by a tank.

"Roar— Damn it!! You damn scumbags!!!"

Uvogin howled furiously like a wild beast, almost completely losing his rationality.

This was absolutely the most miserable he had ever been in his entire life, even nearly dying here. Just who was it? Who was it? Who dared to ambush them?

"Shut up!!! Pakunoda is dead..."

Nobunaga practically squeezed the words out from between his teeth. This instantly silenced Uvogin, his pupils shrinking as he stared dead at the corpse on the ground.

Even though all the mbers of this team were known as demons who killed without batting an eye.

Even though they were reputed to be incredibly cold-blooded and emotionless, they were still old comrades who had been together for many years.

Now, watching their comrade die right before their eyes, an unprecedented anger burned in everyone's chest.

This was absolutely the greatest provocation to the Phantom Troupe!!

"Then let's go kill those guys. If they dared to kill one of our own, we must tear every single one of them into a million pieces."

Uvogin roared in fury.

"Who are you planning to take out? Do you even know who ambushed us? Right now, we're like exposed prey. We go back! We go back imdiately! We can't stay here! Kortopi, copy a corpse of Pakunoda and our corpses and leave them here...

Let the people who plotted to ambush us think we all died here. That's the only way they will surface.

Pakunoda won't die in vain. When we find the person behind this, we'll make them pay for their sins with a hundred tis the pain!"

Nobunaga spoke with a chilling aura, clearly angered to the absolute limit.

Pakunoda's death was unquestionably the greatest provocation to the entire team. Furthermore, it was an unprecedented, bizarre death since the Troupe's establishnt. Even now, they didn't even know who their opponent was.

"...Yes."

The short man, Kortopi, whose entire body was almost entirely covered in hair revealing only a single eye, was also deeply shaken. If Uvogin hadn't protected him just now, he probably would have ended up like Pakunoda, turning into a corpse lying here.

He imdiately copied four corpses, even including his own, to leave behind.

Uvogin clenched his fists tight, his teeth grinding audibly, but ultimately he had no choice but to leave in frustration.

Outside.

Franklin, Feitan, and Shizuku had already cleared out the entire auction venue. The Mafia mbers and the Mafia elites who ca to participate in the auction were almost entirely wiped out.

Moreover, the area had been cleaned spotless by Shizuku.

Just as the few of them were lanting that this mission was too boring without any real opponents, their leader Chrollo's voice suddenly ca through the communicator.

"The mission is over, co back imdiately."

Chrollo's tone was exceptionally serious.

"It's over? That fast? Looks like Uvogin and the others did a great job. We should have earned quite a lot this ti."

Feitan couldn't help but chuckle.

"Dealing with these small fries actually didn't require our entire team to move out. It's totally using a sledgehamr to crack a nut."

Franklin grumbled.

"I'm exhausted. Having to clean up so many places... if I had known, I wouldn't have bothered cleaning." Shizuku stopped her vacuum cleaner.

Everyone began to daydream about how, after acquiring this massive wealth, the entire team could finally welco a vacation.

This was wealth accumulated over many years by the vast majority of the Mafia; its value was definitely astronomical.

"The vault was emptied in advance, and... Pakunoda is dead. Co back, all of you. We've been marked."

Chrollo's voice was terrifyingly calm.

Like the calm before a storm.

Hearing these words, the smiles on everyone present instantly froze. They stood dumbfounded in place for a few seconds, unable to even process it.

"What?! Pakunoda is dead!?"

"How... how is that possible?!"

"And the vault was emptied ahead of ti!! Damn it!!"

"Let's go! We can't linger here anymore."

...

Feitan, Franklin, and Shizuku instantly realized things had gone horribly wrong.

Disregarding their previous plans, they directly boarded the hot air balloon that had been prepared in advance for their escape.

anwhile, the leader, Chrollo, remained in another location.

The hot air balloon slowly ascended. By the ti it ca into full view, they had completely escaped the attack range.

But at this mont.

Every mber of the Troupe on the hot air balloon had an exceptionally grim expression.

"Pakunoda is dead!?"

"What... what exactly is going on!? How could she possibly die in this kind of gang conflict?"

"And the vault being emptied in advance, what is that all about?"

"We must have been ambushed. But why would they know our operation plans, and even set an ambush for us in advance?"

"Uvogin! Kortopi! Nobunaga! You guys survived inside the vault, what the hell happened?"

...

Everyone's gazes uniformly locked onto the three of them.

Right now, Machi was busy stitching up Nobunaga's severed arm.

Uvogin was angrily chugging booze, paying absolutely no mind to the wounds on his own body.

Although he took the blast of the bomb head-on, his innate defense was astonishing, so he didn't suffer any fatal injuries.

"It has to be Hisoka! That bastard Hisoka!! He ambushed us in advance!! No wonder I said that guy wasn't moving with us; it turns out he was playing the mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind. He played this hand really well!"

Uvogin growled through gritted teeth.

On their way back, Kortopi had ntioned that he saw playing cards on the ground before the explosion, which Uvogin hadn't noticed earlier.

So all the signs seed to point toward Hisoka!

That bastard could only be the traitor of the entire team.

"It's that guy! From the very beginning, that guy harbored ulterior motives when joining our Troupe. On the way back, I grabbed so relevant surveillance footage. We'll know who the killer is soon enough!"

Nobunaga's expression was frighteningly cold.

Even while evacuating, he had specifically gone to the vault's security room and used the chaos to grab a portion of the surveillance tapes.

And now, he handed it directly to Shalnark.

Everyone stared intently at the videotape in Shalnark's hands. They all understood that the answer to unraveling this mystery lay right here.

Soon, the videotape began to play.

Many were useless clips, but after Shalnark's rapid filtering, they finally found the footage concerning the vault. However, there wasn't much footage left on it, but fortunately, they managed to capture the most critical part.

On the screen.

Hisoka walked out of the vault with a smile playing on his lips. He casually slaughtered those guards, and even threw a mocking glance right at the cara!

"Roar— Hisoka, you bastard! I'm definitely going to tear him into eight pieces!"

Uvogin roared furiously.

The other mbers present felt a sense of disbelief.

Because as team mbers, the most fundantal rule was absolutely no in-fighting. No matter what mistakes or sins they committed, as long as they were in the Troupe, everyone would protect them together.

But absolutely no harming each other, no killing each other—this was the absolute strictest principle.

Anyone who violated it would face the wrath and execution of the entire team!

"But this whole thing is very strange. The only knowledgeable auction host ntioned that soone ca to transfer the goods a few hours ago... They seed to know in advance that sothing would happen today.

Furthermore... the opponent even accurately guessed that we would go to the vault, and directly set an ambush... Actually, I don't think it was Hisoka, even though I also find that guy very unpleasant."

Nobunaga suddenly spoke up.

"Kortopi already said that the guy's cards were left on the ground, isn't that proof enough? Moreover, when we saw the traces of death on that corpse back then, it was clearly killed by a playing card. Only that guy kills like that."

Uvogin said angrily.

anwhile.

In the ruins where Chrollo was located.

He held a can of soda, sitting quietly on a rock, sipping it alone.

And before him.

Stood the conspicuously late Hisoka.

Chrollo had turned on the speakerphone, so Hisoka heard every word just now.

"Yeah, there's video evidence! It proves that Hisoka did it!"

"That bastard definitely has bad intentions."

"No! If you guys think about it carefully, this evidence is way too convenient. Deliberately leaving his own cards, and then letting the cara capture his face... this is practically like spelling it out to us that he did it!"

Nobunaga argued in a deep voice.

"Was it you? Hisoka."

Chrollo's voice transmitted through the communicator.

Suddenly, everyone quieted down.

Because at this mont, everyone realized that the boss must be together with this Hisoka.

The other party's next answer would determine the entire Troupe's attitude toward him.

"It wasn't. Would you believe if I said soone frad ? I have no interest in treasure."

Hisoka replied bluntly.

Chrollo stared intently at Hisoka for several full seconds before a faint smile finally appeared on his lips.

"It wasn't Hisoka."

His words left the other mbers on the communicator's end slightly bewildered.

"But Boss... all the evidence seems to show that this guy did it. You can't just listen to his one-sided story!"

Uvogin yelled in anger.

"The Bible says that Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 silver coins. So, what would the traitor among us betray us for? Think about it. What good does it do us to sell out to the Mafia? Money, fa, or status?

Is there really anyone among us who would be satisfied with such things? Besides, there's one more thing I don't understand. If soone really tipped them off, the Mafia's reaction was way too unnatural. If they received intelligence and knew a top-tier thief troupe was coming, the security should have been much stricter. The defense level in the vault couldn't have been this low.

Furthermore..."

Chrollo stated his deduction, and his reasoning left all the mbers speechless.

Because at this mont, everyone believed one thing: that includes Hisoka, no one had any reason to betray them.

Their purpose in operating together was not for wealth!

"But Boss! Pakunoda is dead!! Soone has to pay for this."

Uvogin's words ignited everyone's fury once more.

The death of a mber in battle was considered the greatest provocation to the entire team.

"Of course... she won't die in vain. We will soon find the person behind the scenes. He should be watching us right now too."

Chrollo played with the soda can in his hand, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Exuding a dangerous aura, like a venomous snake hiding in the darkness.
