And yet, it beca the focal point of the entire world. Everything else lost its color, as if the scene itself had turned into a monochro ink wash.
This indescribable sensation caused every surrounding Pet Beast to freeze in thought, a single na surfacing in their minds—
Phoenix.
It wasn't because they understood what a phoenix should look like, nor because the black bird resembled one in any conventional sense.
Rather, its image had been completely etched into their hearts. To them, it was the most perfect, flawless, and ultimate avian form they had ever seen.
For a bird like this, there was only one word worthy of it.
The highest possible praise among all avian creatures—
Phoenix!

Standing at the edge of the stage, Jiang Xing was equally shaken.
On the surface, the black bird Chickie had evolved into appeared to possess only a single color—ink black.
Compared to the deep-gray birds, it even seed sowhat plain, lacking vibrancy.
But the mont one looked at it, everything else faded. The entire world seed willing to relinquish its colors, becoming re background to highlight its existence.
It had beco the most dazzling presence within that painted world.
This ability to alter the very "style" of reality—this was undoubtedly an extrely terrifying talent.
Snapping out of his awe, Jiang Xing felt sincere joy for Chickie.

What kind of power did this brand-new Pet Beast possess? What talents did it have?
And more importantly—why had Chickie evolved into this black phoenix-like form?

At that mont, Jiang Xing felt like his mind was being scratched by restless monkeys—he wanted nothing more than to begin researching imdiately.
Fortunately, he took a deep breath and suppressed the urge.
The Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix event was still ongoing.

The black phoenix circled above the stage once, expressing its gratitude to the surrounding Pet Beasts.
Then it descended to the front of the stage, landing among the Ugly Waterfowl, affectionately rubbing against them and the deep-gray birds.
Even though it had evolved, it had not forgotten—it was the strange feathers thrown by the deep-gray birds that had ford the core of its Hundred Bird Cloak.
Without them, it would have been impossible to master Phoenix Grace, let alone gain the recognition of all the beasts and complete its evolution.
After expressing its thanks, it returned to Jiang Xing's side and nudged his hand.
At that mont, it seed to restrain its power. The overwhelming, color-devouring aura vanished, leaving behind a half-human-height black phoenix—still strikingly beautiful.
Jiang Xing stroked it and smiled.
"Congratulations."

Chickie let out a soft cry.
It hadn't let him down.

As the Pet Beasts gradually recovered from their shock, the Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix event resud.
One after another, the Ugly Waterfowl reached their mont of transformation—evolving into deep-gray birds or fluffy cloud birds.
During this ti, so new Ugly Waterfowl also gained the recognition of quite a few Pet Beasts. They imitated Chickie and donned a Hundred Bird Cloak—yet they still failed to evolve into a black phoenix, and instead remained as deep-gray birds after evolution.
This only made Jiang Xing even more curious—
What exactly were the evolution conditions for the black phoenix?
Why was Chickie the only one who had successfully achieved it?
Amid Jiang Xing's curiosity, the Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix event finally ca to a complete end.
All the wild Pet Beasts that had participated in the event received energy blocks and left in satisfaction.
As for the avian-type Pet Beasts, they lingered around the newly evolved Ugly Waterfowl, showing clear affection and closeness.
After all, even the "failed" fluffy cloud birds had lost their Ugliness talent and transford into cute avian Pet Beasts.
Combined with their training in Seduction and the Beauty stat they had built up through the Phoenix-type energy blocks, in the eyes of other Pet Beasts, each of them was now a "great beauty bird," highly attractive.
As for their previous ugly appearances…
Birds change drastically as they grow—being ugly when young has nothing to do with how they are now.
The deep-gray birds and fluffy cloud birds had already overco their past or found sothing to anchor their hearts to. Their personalities had changed—they were no longer as self-conscious or withdrawn.
Moreover, they had always longed for the day they could stand under the sunlight and interact freely with other Pet Beasts…
Now, their wish had co true. They quickly mingled with the other avian Pet Beasts, chirping and cooing as they happily communicated.
Seeing this scene, Jiang Xing felt deeply gratified.
These "Ugly Waterfowl" no longer had to hide in the research institute's pool room. They could now freely roam the lakes—and even soar through the skies.
And with them around, the next ti Jiang Xing gathered more Ugly Waterfowl to investigate the exact evolution conditions of the three forms, the training process would beco much easier.

After the deep-gray birds and fluffy cloud birds had played around and vented their post-evolution excitent, Jiang Xing brought them back to the research institute for detailed examination.

After testing, Jiang Xing discovered that the Mysticfeather Peacock did not possess the "Phoenix-type" attribute.
This was only natural. "Phoenix-type Pet Beasts" were on par with "True Dragon-type Pet Beasts"—their rarity far exceeded even Dragon-type attributes. They weren't sothing that would appear so easily.
Jiang Xing held high expectations for the Mysticfeather Peacock. As Pet Beasts that had overco their inner demons, they undoubtedly still had further potential.
By the third—or even fourth—stage, it might not be impossible for them to awaken a Phoenix-type attribute.
Moreover, even at present, they already possessed considerable potential. Their two beauty-related talents could practically be seen as a "youth version" of the Auspicious Cloud Qilin's Affinity talent.
When fully activated, they could even forcibly dispel the hostility of wild Pet Beasts!
Perhaps in direct combat, they were far inferior to the Rainbow Dragon Hatchling's shaless stalling tactics.
