Now reading: Chapter 190 - 77: Qin Mei, Are You a Dog? from Reborn in the 1970s — Married a Proud Rough Man, a Romance novel by Ting Xi.

The man led the way with Qin i following close behind. The farther they walked, the more she felt that sothing was wrong. ’The machinery factory is a good distance from here, but he’s on foot? He’s not even riding a bicycle. Even if he didn’t own one, the factory would have arranged for one so he could co to the Jie Family’s house to deliver the ssage.’

’And what about my father-in-law? He’s the director of the machinery factory.’

As she followed the man into an alley, Qin i’s heart sank. She’d been tricked.

Qin i stopped walking. The man stopped too, turning to face her. "What’s wrong?" he asked.

’What’s wrong? How dare he ask what’s wrong?’

Not wanting to tip her hand, Qin i bent down and rubbed her knee. "My legs feel like jelly. I can’t go on."

"Your husband is injured, and it’s serious. If you keep delaying like this, you might not even get to see him one last ti." The man was deliberately trying to frighten her. They were so close to their destination, and her stopping now was making him anxious.

"Stop trying to scare . The more you do, the weaker my legs get, and the harder it is for to walk." With that, Qin i plopped right down on the ground.

"You..." The man, now even more anxious than Qin i, demanded, "Are you Jie Jingchen’s wife or not?"

"I’m not," Qin i denied. Seeing the man’s confused expression, she added, "I was lying. I’m not really Jie Jingchen’s wife. I’m... I’m Jie Jingchen’s sister."

The man hesitated. He didn’t even know who Jie Jingchen was, let alone his wife. If he’d really brought the wrong person, not only would he lose his paynt, he’d probably get a savage beating. "You’re really Jie Jingchen’s sister?"

That confird it for Qin i. ’This man isn’t one of Jie Jingchen’s colleagues. Everyone at the factory knows Jie Jingshan is disabled.’

"She is Jie Jingchen’s wife," a rough, furious voice bood.

Qin i recognized that voice. It was Xu Anshan.

A chill shot down Qin i’s spine. ’Never trust a stranger, and certainly never go anywhere with one.’ How could the very cautiousness she took pride in have been so easily shattered by the news of Jie Jingchen’s injury?

’Worry really does cloud one’s judgnt!’

"Uncle Xu," the man said, looking at Xu Anshan in surprise as he ran over to him. "Uncle Xu, I thought we agreed..."

"She’s too cunning," Xu Anshan cut the man off. It was a good thing he’d had the foresight not to wait around like an idiot. Qin i was just as cunning and suspicious as Jie Jingchen. If he hadn’t shown up, Qin i would have completely fooled Gou Dan. The boy was simple and naive; he wouldn’t have even made it out of the alley.

Gou Dan glanced at Qin i, who was still on the ground, then gave a sheepish smile and scratched his short hair. "Uncle Xu."

"Here. Take the money and leave." Xu Anshan handed Gou Dan two large bills.

"Heh heh, thanks, Uncle Xu!" Gou Dan was ecstatic as he took the money. As he was leaving, he even added, "Uncle Xu, if another great opportunity like this cos up, you’ll call , right?"

"There won’t be a next ti," Xu Anshan said coldly, his gaze fixed on Qin i, brimming with torrential fury. He would have his revenge on Qiao Yanqiu and Jie Jingchen. He would make them see how formidable he was. If he couldn’t get to them directly, he would go after the people they cared about.

Gou Dan left, disappointed. Xu Anshan, who was standing so distance away, began walking toward Qin i. His pace was slow, as if he was certain she was already in his grasp.

Qin i rembered that Xu Anshan could topple a stone table with a single kick, and Jie Jingchen himself had said the man was formidable. Daring not to underestimate him, and believing that discretion was the better part of valor, Qin i scrambled to her feet and bolted.

Qin i had only taken two steps when a gust of wind rushed past her ear. A dark figure blurred past, and she stopped short, staring in astonishnt at Xu Anshan, who now blocked her path.

’That speed... It’s too fast. Unbelievably fast.’

"Trying to run?" Xu Anshan’s expression was sinister, his gaze icy.

A chill crept up Qin i’s spine, but she suppressed her panic and faced Xu Anshan with a calm expression. "You’re fast."

"Hmph!" Xu Anshan snorted in disdain.

Qin i didn’t beat around the bush. "You had soone lure out here to get revenge on my mother-in-law and Jie Jingchen, didn’t you?"

Xu Anshan sneered but said nothing.

"You have a score to settle, so settle it with the right people," Qin i said calmly. "You should be going after them. Using for your revenge might not bring you the satisfaction you’re hoping for."

"Injuring my son, leaving the Xu Family without an heir, framing ... you played no small part." Xu Anshan bit out the last five words, spitting them through clenched teeth.

Qin i didn’t deny it. It was the truth; there was no point in arguing. "Xu Anshan, do you dare lay a hand on ?"

"I wouldn’t dare?" Xu Anshan looked as if he’d just heard the funniest joke in the world. His eyes filled with a bloodthirsty chill, making him look like an Asura straight from hell.

"If you touch , the Jie Family and the Xu Family will be at war..."

"The Xu Family is not afraid of going to war with the Jie Family," Xu Anshan cut her off, the bloodthirsty glint in his eyes growing even more pronounced.
