Jie Jingjue was also rather dense. He didn’t think he’d said anything wrong, but he could feel his fourth brother was angry, so he changed the subject. "Fourth Brother, Jing Qi’s legs are healed. Our family should celebrate."

Jie Jingchen didn’t want to deal with him, letting Jie Jingjue ramble on in the kitchen.

Xu Chunyan led Jie You ho, her expression grim. The neighbors had pulled her aside to ask about Jing Qi, and to her shock, she knew absolutely nothing. She had actually learned from them that Qin i had healed Jing Qi’s legs.

’How is that possible? They lived in the sa courtyard, yet she truly hadn’t noticed that Jing Qi’s legs were better. But the neighbors described it so vividly, even saying they saw Jing Qi pushing Qin i’s wheelchair. Facing the neighbors’ pointed questions, she couldn’t describe how mortified she was. As Jing Qi’s second sister-in-law, she had been completely clueless that Jing Qi’s legs were healed.’

She could only bite the bullet and lie, claiming Jing Qi had asked her not to spread the news.

"Mom," Jie You said, looking up at Xu Chunyan.

Pushing her thoughts aside, Xu Chunyan crouched down, smiled at Jie You, and patted his shoulder. "Xiao You, be good. Go to your room and do your howork. I’m going to go talk to your little aunt."

"I want to see my little aunt too." Jie You shook his head. He didn’t want to do howork. His dad wasn’t ho, so there was no one to force him. He wanted to find his little aunt; she had good snacks.

"Xiao You, be a good boy and listen. Your little aunt and I have secrets to discuss." Xu Chunyan gave Jie You’s chubby little body a gentle push.

"I’ll go find Great-Granny," Jie You said. The little guy just didn’t want to do his howork.

"Okay," Xu Chunyan agreed with a nod.

The little guy cheered and ran toward Granny’s room. Granny was dozing inside, and Grandpa was in the kitchen cooking.

Xu Chunyan took a deep breath and walked to Jie Jingshan’s room. She tried the door and found it locked from the inside. Xu Chunyan’s eyes narrowed slightly as she knocked. "Jing Qi."

"What is it, Second Sister-in-law?" Jie Jingshan was studying and had a pretty good idea why she was here.

"Jing Qi, I have sothing to talk to you about," Xu Chunyan said with a smile.

Jie Jingshan thought for a mont. She hadn’t planned on hiding it anymore anyway; the neighbors already knew. Deciding to just get it over with, she stood up and opened the door. "What is it, Second Sister-in-law?"

"Jing Qi, you..." Xu Chunyan was stunned. Even though she had been ntally prepared, seeing Jie Jingshan standing before her was still a shock. "Did your fourth sister-in-law really heal your legs?"

"Fourth Sister-in-law is very skilled," Jie Jingshan said perfunctorily, without offering much explanation. ’She would treat those who sincerely wished her well with sincerity, and those who were hypocritical with hypocrisy.’

A myriad of emotions flickered across Xu Chunyan’s face. Her heart felt heavy and constricted. ’She had to admit she hadn’t shown enough concern for Jing Qi. She never wanted to get close to her in the first place, let alone after her accident. There was no real bond between them as sisters-in-law, so after the accident, she didn’t even feign concern. Shen Qing, on the other hand, who was normally as cold as ice, had taken great care of Jing Qi.’

’Whether Jing Qi’s legs were healed or not shouldn’t have affected her at all. And yet, for so reason, deep down, she had hoped Jing Qi would remain crippled. Jing Qi being crippled would have been the most fitting retribution for Qiao Yanqiu.’

"Was it really your fourth sister-in-law who healed you?" Xu Chunyan was skeptical. She would sooner believe Qiao Yanqiu had healed her than Qin i.

’How could Qin i possibly have such skill?’

"Second Sister-in-law, what are you trying to say?" Jie Jingshan’s expression darkened.

Xu Chunyan faltered for a mont, then explained with a nervous chuckle, "I don’t an anything by it. I’m just surprised. Your fourth sister-in-law is just a country girl, a barefoot doctor. How could she possibly..."

"Second Sister-in-law," Jie Jingshan cut her off, her face cold. "I need to study. If there’s nothing else, please don’t disturb ."

SLAM! Jie Jingshan shut the door and locked it.

Xu Chunyan was furious. She raised her hand to knock again, but Jie Jingjue’s voice ca from behind her. "Second Sister-in-law, what are you doing at Jing Qi’s door?"

A chill ran down Xu Chunyan’s spine. She turned around stiffly, forcing a smile for Jie Jingjue. "Oh, nothing. I got ho from work and heard from the neighbors that Jing Qi’s legs are healed. I was just thinking, I’m her second sister-in-law, and yet I had no idea. It made feel so terrible and regretful. I haven’t been paying enough attention to her."

Hearing this, Jie Jingjue waved his hand dismissively. "Jing Qi and Fourth Sister-in-law kept it from all of us. If they don’t say anything, how are we supposed to know?"

"You didn’t know either? You also heard it from the neighbors?" Xu Chunyan was a little surprised, but also relieved. ’If Jing Wu didn’t know, then it was perfectly normal that she didn’t either.’

"Not exactly," Jie Jingjue said, and then briefly explained. After hearing his account, Xu Chunyan was completely relieved.
