"So..." Jie Jingchen gazed at Qin i, a complex mix of emotions flickering in his eyes before they gradually settled into a calm, gentle smile that touched the corners of his lips.
’Jie Jingchen was incredibly glad he had been rational and hadn’t let his father’s influence get to him. He hadn’t questioned her indiscriminately. Before her amnesia, her character had been terrible. But after, she was truly wonderful—so wonderful that he couldn’t help but fall for her.’
"So, what?" Qin i raised her hand and poked Jie Jingchen’s chest with her index finger.
She wasn’t one to press her advantage when she was in the right. Since Jie Jingchen hadn’t even questioned her, the misunderstanding was resolved with a tacit understanding between them.
"Nothing." The smile on Jie Jingchen’s face deepened. He took Qin i’s small hand, brought it to his lips for a kiss, and then placed it over his heart, letting her feel its strong, steady beat.
"Go wash the bedsheets." Qin i pulled her hand away. They had just washed the sheets this morning. Now that Jie Jingchen was here, the task naturally fell to him.
Jie Jingchen watched Qin i turn, walk over to the window, grab a random book, and sit down in a chair.
Jie Jingchen turned his head, his gaze locking onto the soiled bedsheet. A dark look flickered in his eyes.
"Mom," Jie Jingchen called out loudly.
Qin i jumped, staring at Jie Jingchen in horror. "You’re not planning to ask your mom to wash it, are you?"
"Of course not." Jie Jingchen shook his head.
Qin i frowned, her gaze turning scrutinizing. "Are you going to tattle?"
"Let’s see who shows up first." A playful smirk curved Jie Jingchen’s lips. Whether he tattled or not depended on who ca.
Qin i looked out the window. Mr. Xie was in the yard, helping Granny walk. Hearing Jie Jingchen call for his mother, Mr. Xie’s scalp tingled. He let go of Granny and turned to go back.
Mr. Xie was infuriated by the setback. He stord into the room and started yelling, "Jie Jingchen, are you ever going to quit? I’m warning you, know when to stop. Don’t push your luck."
"Dad, co here." Jie Jingchen beckoned to Mr. Xie with his finger.
Mr. Xie felt utterly aggrieved. ’Who’s the father here, anyway?’ he thought. When Jie Jingchen saw his father wasn’t moving, he opened his mouth as if to call for his mom again. Seeing this, Mr. Xie swallowed his pride, his face cold as he strode toward Jie Jingchen.
Jie Jingchen pointed to the wet spot on the bedsheet. Mr. Xie glanced at it, confused. "What’s this supposed to an?"
"Granny’s handiwork." Jie Jingchen’s deep voice was laced with ice.
Mr. Xie froze. ’His mother’s handiwork definitely wouldn’t be just water.’ "Did your Granny spit on it?"

Jie Jingchen’s eyes narrowed, his exquisitely handso features turning frigid. "Urine."
"Urine...?" Mr. Xie exclaid. A shadow crossed his eyes, and his expression looked like a gathering storm. "Jie Jingchen, I know you and your Granny aren’t close, but would you really fra her just to protect your wife?"
"Sll it yourself." Jie Jingchen’s gaze was grim. His father had a problem with Qin i and always blad her for anything bad that happened. Jie Jingchen was not happy about it.
Mr. Xie didn’t want to bother, but he knew that if he didn’t, Jing Si, with his temper, would call his mother over. To avoid alarming his own wife, Mr. Xie gritted his teeth, bent down, grabbed the bedsheet, and sniffed. It really did sll like urine.
Mr. Xie put down the bedsheet and straightened up. He shot a cold glare at Qin i, who was sitting by the window, before his sharp gaze landed back on Jie Jingchen. He demanded coldly, "Are you sure it’s your Granny’s urine?"
"Whose else would it be?" Jie Jingchen gave a cold laugh, a hint of mockery in his brow. ’He wasn’t so bored or twisted as to fra his own grandmother by putting urine on his bedsheet.’
’And it couldn’t possibly be Qin i. She was just coming out of the bathroom when Dad was helping Granny leave; she wasn’t even in the room. The fact that she knew the sheet was dirty just from hearing Granny sneeze shows she has experience with this.’
Mr. Xie knew Jing Si’s character well enough. Understanding dawned on him in an instant. The coldness vanished from his face, replaced by an awkward smile. "Well... um... Your Granny really went a bit too far."
’His mother wanted to cause trouble for Qin i, and that was one thing, but why did she have to use urine to soil their bedsheet?’
"Many won suffer irreversible damage from childbirth. Accidental urine leakage during activities like sneezing, coughing, running, or lifting heavy objects is a common phenonon called stress incontinence." Jie Jingchen relayed word for word what Qin i had told him to his father.
Mr. Xie’s face paled when he heard this. He was simultaneously filled with self-reproach. ’How could he, as her son, be completely unaware that his mother had this condition?’ Mr. Xie looked at Qin i. "Can your Granny’s condition be treated?"
"No." Qin i shook her head.
"Why not?" Mr. Xie asked, finding it hard to believe. If Qin i could even treat Jing Qi’s leg, how could she possibly be unable to treat Granny?
