Han Yi got up quietly from the bed and took a blanket to cover Lin Wan.
Suddenly getting married and being alone with a woman was indeed a bit unsettling. But at that mont, looking at Lin Wan’s sleepy, fair little face, a full sense of belonging welled up in his heart. It made him feel much more at ease.
Lin Wan slept until after three in the afternoon. When she woke up, Han Yi had just co in from washing his face outside. "Awake?"
"Mm." Lin Wan was still sowhat dazed, for a mont forgetting where she was. It wasn’t until she regained her senses that she rembered she was already married, currently in Han Yi’s room. She had planned to lie down for a mont, but unexpectedly fell asleep unknowingly in front of Han Yi.
Feeling a bit annoyed, she wondered if she looked okay while sleeping and whether Han Yi found her displeasing.
Little did Lin Wan know, her tousled hair and drowsy eyes were incredibly alluring, making Han Yi feel slightly uneasy. He quickly looked away, clearing his throat to conceal the slight warmth on his face. "Wash your face, and let’s go to your place."
"Okay."
She had agreed with Mom yesterday to co back early in the evening.
After Han Yi and Lin Wan freshened up and bid farewell to Grandma, they went to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy two cans of preserved fruit, two pastries, and a cake. Han Yi initially wanted to buy cigarettes but then thought that his brother-in-law seed to still be in school and probably didn’t smoke.
When they reached West Bridge, Lin Wan bought so vegetables and fish. By the ti they got ho, Mom and her brother hadn’t co back yet.
"You sit first, I’ll go cook. My mom and brother should be back soon." Lin Wan placed the items on the table and poured a glass of cool boiled water for Han Yi.
"I’ll join you." Han Yi took off his wide-brimd hat and raised his hand to wipe the sweat off his forehead. Before he could touch it, a faint fragrance reached his nose, and before he realized it, Lin Wan was already wiping the sweat for him with a handkerchief.
In these past few days, apart from holding hands, this was the closest mont for them. Originally relaxed, Han Yi beca tense again.
With them being so close, Han Yi could clearly see the fine hair on Lin Wan’s face and her long eyelashes. When his gaze fell upon her red lips, Han Yi’s face instantly blushed, his breathing beca slightly labored, and he quickly stepped back, creating so distance between them. Lin Wan was sowhat puzzled by Han Yi’s sudden departure, her hand raised mid-air looking at Han Yi, not understanding.
Han Yi also realized his odd behavior, lightly coughed to cover his embarrassnt, and quickly took the handkerchief from Lin Wan’s hand saying, "I’ll do it myself."
"...Oh." Lin Wan didn’t say much, just lowered her head and smiled when she saw the redness of his ears.
Lin Wan cooked in the kitchen using a coal stove, because their stove was connected to the heated bed, so once winter was over, they could only use the coal stove for cooking.
Han Yi helped Lin Wan pick and cut the vegetables, while Lin Wan was in charge of stir-frying.
"I didn’t know you could cook."
"I used to cook often at ho."
"What’s your signature dish?"
"Tomato and egg."
"Then why don’t you make one later."
"Okay."
When Liang Hongi and Lin Yinghui ca back, they saw a man in a military uniform wearing an apron cooking in the kitchen. It surprised both of them at once.
