Lin Wan thought about how Han Yi couldn’t eat alone, so she prepared a generous portion for him, even bringing five bottles of beer.
"I tried this stuff last year, it tastes good. I heard it’s over a dollar a bottle. His wife is really generous." Qin Hongbing had been married for two years now, had a child last year, and his wife had stayed in their hotown with the baby, planning to apply for army relocation when the child could attend kindergarten.
Yang Wei was married, but his wife attended university after the college entrance exam reinstatent. She has been in the Capital for three years now, and rumor has it she’ll graduate this year.
Universities nowadays have a three-year system, but it’s estimated that freshn next year will face a four-year system.
Gao Ran was the only bachelor in the dorm.
"I have to say, his wife’s cooking skills could rival a restaurant chef," Yang Wei comnted spiritedly after eating a few crayfish and drinking so beer.
"You hit the nail on the head, Han Yi’s wife’s family runs a restaurant," Gao Ran remarked knowingly.
Qin Hongbing patted Han Yi on the shoulder, "You’re lucky, marrying soone who can cook. If she relocates, you can bet we’d co to mooch als. You should talk to her; don’t turn us away."
"She won’t," Han Yi assured confidently, pride evident in his heart.
...
After delivering the items to Han Yi, Lin Wan headed straight to the casserole shop. That day, when their shop was attacked, the maternity ward nurse really helped them out a lot.
She couldn’t just leave her behind.
As dinnerti approached, Lin Wan picked up a casserole in advance and brought so snacks to their ward.
"Li Lan, comrade."
"Oh, it’s the little owner of the casserole shop. What brings you here?"
"I’ve brought you so food. Included your favorite crispy at," Lin Wan said, taking out the lunchbox, "Hurry, grab your lunchbox and let pour it in."
Li Lan, being warm-hearted and straightforward, didn’t stand on ceremony with Lin Wan, "Thanks. I was planning to drop by your shop after work. I won’t be bashful then."
"No need to be shy with us. Whenever you co to our store, you’ll get a 20% discount," Lin Wan replied as she handed Li Lan so snacks. "These are homade by a relative, try them."
Li Lan laughed, "I just helped you a bit by calling soone, it’s nothing special, you don’t have to treat differently."
"What do you an a little help? It was a big help to us. If you hadn’t assisted, that day would have been a loss for us,"
"Actually, Tong Li’s family’s food at our hospital cafeteria isn’t very tasty. I’ve eaten there a few tis and found rotten leaves twice in the rice. They must be using bad ingredients. Their food being cheap makes sense."
"You get what you pay for; they’re not going to do a losing business."
"You’re not part of the hospital, so you don’t know. This incident caused quite a stir, our director even got publicly reprimanded, and Tong Li’s wife’s second uncle, who’s our hospital’s finance officer, received quite a punishnt because of this matter."
Lin Wan raised her brow, surprised to hear how extensive it was. Quite a few people involved.
Looks like Tong Li is in for so bad luck.
At night, Lin Wan lay in bed. Even after reading the sa page of a book for a long ti, her thoughts kept drifting to Han Yi. She eventually put the book aside, took out their photo from under the pillow, and hugged it, reminiscing for a long while. She wondered if Han Yi had received what she sent and whether he was thinking about her just as she was thinking about him.
