"Hello." Chuxia politely greeted after picking up the phone, but there was silence on the other end.

"Hello, this is Lin Chuxia, who’s calling?" Chuxia asked once more.

"Hello, I... I’m Liu Zhenqiang." The voice finally spoke, surprising Chuxia, "Why are you calling ?" Chuxia inquired.

"Qiyan... Qiyan is about to give birth, it’s very dangerous, I thought... I should inform you."

"About to give birth?" Chuxia’s voice grew louder suddenly, "It’s just barely eight months, how could she deliver early? Alright, no need to explain further, which hospital are you at?"

"401, she’s been having her check-ups here, so I brought her here."

Without waiting for more information, Chuxia swiftly hung up and turned to Old Madam Zhou: "Grandma, Zhao Qiyan is delivering early; it’s quite dangerous. I need to go have a look with my parents."

"Alright, let Xiaohua accompany you. It’s good to have soone lend a hand if needed." Old Madam Zhou instructed Zhou Huakang, "Go find Uncle Li to drive you there."

"Okay." Chuxia certainly wouldn’t be polite at such a ti, agreeing readily and jogging back to her parents’ room, where the two were gluing paper boxes quietly so as not to disturb anyone.

"How could she give birth early?" Hearing that Zhao Qiyan’s situation was dangerous, Zhao Yulan’s face turned pale, after all, that was her own elder brother’s daughter, and moreover, her brother had only this one daughter. If anything happened, given her brother’s nature, who knows what he might suffer in silence.

"Mom, I didn’t ask, let’s hurry to the hospital first, we’ll talk once we’re there."

"Yes, yes, let’s go first." Lin Baohe comforted his wife, patting her back, "Don’t worry yourself sick yet, let’s go see how things are. If it’s truly critical, we’ll telegraph your brother and sister-in-law to co over."

"Alright." Zhao Yulan realized it wasn’t the ti for hesitation and quickly followed her daughter and husband out the door. Once in the car, Chuxia found that Lin Yanqiu and i Xiaofeng were also in the vehicle, "Mom, Xiao Feng, thank you." Refusing now would only seem distant, so Chuxia instead simply expressed her gratitude.

Lin Yanqiu gave her a look, "Why are you being polite with ?"

i Xiaofeng quickly added, "You shouldn’t be polite with either."

"Alright, alright, I’m wrong, I’m wrong." Chuxia quickly surrendered, but deep inside she was incredibly anxious. Although she shared no affection with Zhao Qiyan, knowing soone was in danger left her unable to control her worry. Maybe it’s the bond of kinship.

When they arrived outside the maternity surgery room of 401, Liu Zhenqiang was crouched in despair, holding his head in his hands.

"What’s the situation now?" Chuxia asked.

"I don’t know." Liu Zhenqiang stood up quickly, "She was bleeding continuously when we got here. The doctor said not to delay. I called you right away. Doctor Qiu is responsible for the rescue now."

Doctor Qiu was quite renowned in the obstetrics departnt, and Chuxia softly inford Zhao Yulan and Lin Baohe about him to ease their worry.

Zhao Yulan eagerly looked at her daughter, "With him in charge, Qiyan will be alright, right?"

"That depends on the situation." Chuxia looked at Liu Zhenqiang, "What exactly happened? Don’t tell she went into labor without reason, I won’t believe it."

"It was Zhong Hongying; she ca to our house. I was at work, so only Qiyan and my mom were ho. I’m not completely sure about the details, but when my mom called , Qiyan was already bleeding. I told her to call 120 and send her to the hospital, then headed straight here. By the ti I arrived, the ambulance had just arrived too. My mom fainted as soon as we got here and is still on an IV. I didn’t have a chance to ask her more."

"How could she be so ruthless..." Zhao Yulan frowned, "Where is Zhong Hongying now?"

"I don’t know, she ran after pushing Qiyan. I haven’t had the ti to look for her." Liu Zhenqiang couldn’t even lift his head as he spoke, knowing well that he was to bla for all of this. Whatever punishnt the others gave him, he’d have to endure it.

"Xia, we can’t let this slide." Zhao Yulan looked at her daughter, "I don’t want to put you in a tough spot, but you must help us with this, we can’t let her get away."

"Mom, don’t worry. I won’t let her get away with this." Chuxia quickly reassured Zhao Yulan, "For now, let’s wait for news about Qiyan, then we’ll deal with Zhong Hongying. She can’t escape, don’t worry."

"Hmm." Zhao Yulan nodded, sowhat lost in thought as she stared at the operating room’s light, "No matter how bad-tempered Qiyan is, she doesn’t deserve this outco. Her heart is just too dark." Saying this, she worriedly grabbed her daughter’s hand, "If you ever encounter her, stay away. That woman is terrifying."

"Mom, it’s not as bad as you say. She can’t just push everyone she sees, can she?" Chuxia smiled wryly, while Lin Yanqiu stepped forward to soothe Zhao Yulan, "Yulan, don’t worry, our family will keep Chuxia safe and sound, not letting her get hurt one bit."

Zhao Yulan nodded repeatedly. Her mind was a bit chaotic, and she spoke whatever ca to her mind, unable to organize her thoughts clearly.

Half an hour later, the door to the operating room opened, and a doctor ca out. "Doctor Qiu, how is my wife?" Liu Zhenqiang rushed forward to ask, whilst the rest bore anxious expressions.

"The mother is fine, but the child was stillborn." Doctor Qiu looked seriously at Liu Zhenqiang, "Post-operative care and diet are extrely crucial now, no negligence can be afforded."

Zhao Yulan quietly sighed in relief. While she grieved for the child, the fact that the mother was safe felt like a blessing. Otherwise, her brother probably couldn’t find any will to live on.

Even though her parents were dissatisfied with their older son, every child is naturally dear to their parents. If anything truly happened to her brother, their parents’ health might fail.

Her anxiety stemd from worries about both her brother and her parents. Luckily, things did not take a turn for the worst, which was indeed the best outco possible. (To be continued.
