"Alright, I’ll reluctantly accept it," Chuxia blinked at her, walked to the door of the inner room, and peeked inside through the gap. Yuan Hui understood and shook her head with a smile, stepping forward, "Dad, I’m fine, don’t worry."
"Ahem..." After a cough, Elder Yuan’s voice ca through, "Hmm."
"Teacher..." Chuxia pushed open the door, and sure enough, the old man wasn’t conducting any experints—the surgical gloves on his hands hadn’t even been taken off...
"Dad..." Yuan Hui also found it absurd and then her eyes reddened as she went up to hug the old man, "Dad, don’t worry, your daughter is strong! Whether it works out or not, your daughter won’t be crushed!"
"I know, I know..." Elder Yuan stopped pretending altogether, "These days, your mom and I have been worried seeing you so down. When it cos to family background, our family doesn’t match well with the Lin Family. But when it cos to capabilities, your mom and I genuinely believe you’re a good match for Lin Wenbin.
However, how the Fang Family thinks, we can’t guess. We considered calling Chuxia to ask but thought that might put her in a difficult position, since she didn’t grow up with the Lin Family.
Your mom and I aren’t saying you absolutely must be with Lin Wenbin; we’re just worried you’ll miss this chance that you rarely like soone, and who knows how long you’ll have to wait otherwise.
Now that you’re thinking sensibly about this, your mom and I can finally rest easy. When you go ho later, talk to your mom about this so she doesn’t continue to worry."
"Dad, I understand, I’ll talk to mom as soon as I get ho..." Yuan Hui gave a bitter smile, "So mom and dad got sad because they thought I was unhappy, while I thought mom and dad were sad, so I beca sad. What’s going on with us?"
"It shows that communication and expressing our thoughts is extrely important, even with our closest ones. After all, no one can read each other’s mind, right?"
"Yes, yes, yes." Yuan Hui nodded in agreent, but Elder Yuan snorted, "Chuxia, you’re studying dicine, how can you make such a comparison? Although worms grow in a person’s stomach, how could they understand human thoughts?"
Yuan Hui & Chuxia: "..." Grandpa, can’t you be so serious? It’s just a taphor, and now it’s hard to speak with you always taking things to the highest level...
Seeing the ti, Elder Yuan started rushing people: "It’s getting late, you’d better go back. You’re leaving tomorrow, spend more ti with the elders at ho, and co back to visit them when you have the chance."
"I’ll go see Mrs. Teacher soon and then leave," Chuxia said as she pulled Yuan Hui out. "Teacher, you should hurry back ho too. It’s not right for you to always stay in the lab and not accompany Mrs. Teacher."
Watching her father being stunned with surprise, Yuan Hui could not stop laughing along the way. Chuxia didn’t stop her until they entered the house, Yuan Hui was still laughing, prompting Old Lady Yuan to ask, "Chuxia, what’s going on with Huihui?"
Yuan Hui quickly pointed at Chuxia and replied, "Isn’t it because she was teasing..."
After hearing her daughter’s story, the old lady laughed too, montarily pulling Chuxia into a warm hug, "Only you dare to speak to him like that. The two of us wouldn’t dare to say such things."
Chuxia smiled sheepishly, "As long as Mrs. Teacher doesn’t find rude."
The old lady expressed dissatisfaction, "Are you still being formal with , then?"
"Of course not, I just didn’t realize when I said it; but afterward, I felt I might have been a bit inappropriate. If it was a strict elder, I might never be spoken to again."
"No way, Elder Yuan isn’t so rigid."
Just as Elder Yuan entered the room, heard his wife calling him Elder Yuan in front of a student, and unhappily coughed, "The child is leaving for school tomorrow, better go ho early and accompany the elders. You shouldn’t keep her, she’s getting older, you’re still clueless!"
The old lady didn’t pay him any attention, looked at Chuxia, "Leaving tomorrow?"
"Yes." Chuxia nodded, stood up to bid farewell, "Mrs. Teacher, I’ll co to see you next ti when I return, and wish you, Teacher and Sister Yu a happy family every day." Then she cheekily looked at Elder Yuan, "Teacher, the box you gave is still in the lab, may I have Sister accompany to get it?"
Elder Yuan waved his hand, "Go ahead, rember to lock the door."
Once the two were out, Old Lady Yuan gave her husband a glare, "The child visits, barely ward the seat, and you chase her away. Is this how you are as a teacher?"
"You think I don’t want to keep her around?" Elder Yuan sighed, "This child has a good nature, with her here, the ho feels lively. But we can’t only think about our own feelings.
She’s pregnant, you know, the husband’s family agreed to let her go to school is a big concession. We can’t make the Zhou family think she’s not sensible because of us."
"If they dare to nitpick after marrying such a good daughter-in-law, they really don’t know how lucky they are."
"You old lady, how can you not understand my words? It’s not that the Zhou family would certainly despise the child; it’s that we should consider more for the child. Isn’t it bad that the day before leaving, she’s not at ho having a al with her husband’s family?"
"Alright, alright, you’re always right." The old lady sighed, then looked at her husband, "How’s Huihui’s situation? I see Huihui quite happy, is there sothing going on?"
"Sort of." The old man replied ambiguously, getting up and heading towards the study room, "You ask Huihui herself when she returns. I wasn’t there when the kids talked outside."
The old lady rolled her eyes: "You sure hide quickly, we’ve been married all our lives, do you think I don’t know your nature?" She sighed, "If it doesn’t work out, then so be it. Fate cannot be forced."
"Who said it wouldn’t work out, it’s just not settled yet." Elder Yuan said, poking his head out to emphasize, before closing the study room door. The old lady looked helpless, couldn’t he just finish talking outright?
Chuxia ca out of Elder Yuan’s office and ran into the Division Commander’s Tongzi, Yuan Hui patted Chuxia with a smile: "Don’t let hold you up, give a call when you get to school."
Chuxia winked at her, whispered, "I’ll tell Big Brother what you said and then call you."
Yuan Hui flushed red to the ears when her thoughts were pointed out, glared at her, and almost ran off.
"Haha..." Laughing a couple of tis, Chuxia got into the car and said to Zhou Mikang, "We can’t go ho yet, let’s head to the dormitory first; ijun and Doudou should be there."
"Alright." Responding briefly, the Division Commander’s Tongzi drove the car to the girls’ dormitory.
Sure enough, Yun Doudou and Liu ijun were sitting gloomily in the dormitory. Hearing the door, they both turned their heads and saw it was Chuxia, simultaneously breathed a sigh of relief, "Chuxia, you’re not mad at , are you?" Liu ijun asked first.
Yun Doudou also said: "Yeah, Chuxia, I thought you’re not the type, but then I figured pregnancy might cause emotional instability. This afternoon, it almost killed us."
"I was very angry." Chuxia hugged them both, "Can you bla for being mad, for suspecting ?"
Judging by her tone and gesture, the two knew they’d been tricked, and were left speechless and caught between crying and laughing.
"No more doubting in the future, or I really will be angry. I’m going to see Xiaoqiong now, do you want to go ho? I can take you back."
"Go ho." The two said in unison, they’d been waiting for Chuxia to co over; now their concerns were addressed, why stay here?
Furthermore, Liu ijun was also worried about her own parents’ situation.
The Division Commander’s Tongzi understood Chuxia’s bond with her girlfriends well, and so had no objections to his little wife visiting different families, willingly taking the role of the chauffeur.
Luo Xiaoqiong’s dormitory was in the last row in the city hall compound, housing unmarried young people, two to a room, two beds, two chairs, two small desks, a hot water bottle, and two basins, along with so odds and ends for eating, that was all their belongings.
Having just started working here, Luo Xiaoqiong wasn’t particularly close with her roommate. Sitting there they had nothing to say.
Knowing Chuxia was going to the Capital City tomorrow, she wanted to take a look but felt it was inappropriate to just go. Thinking about having to stay here alone later, she couldn’t help but tear up.
The other girl in the dormitory was Qi Yuan, from Capital City, her work here was temporary, and due to her Capital City arrogance, she hadn’t really spoken to Luo Xiaoqiong.
Seeing Luo Xiaoqiong shedding tears, Qi Yuan found it amusing, thinking she was hosick: "Luo Xiaoqiong, can’t you have a little backbone? You’re working now, not a newborn."
"You’re the newborn!" Luo Xiaoqiong snapped at her, feeling even more aggrieved. Since the other had seen it, might as well let it all out, and she started to cry.
Qi Yuan didn’t expect this reaction, paused for a bit, then hurriedly apologized: "Sorry, I wasn’t mocking you, just joking. If you miss ho, why not write a letter; crying here just seems bad."
Luo Xiaoqiong wasn’t in the mood to respond, turned her back and continued sobbing.
"No backbone!" Qi Yuan wasn’t patient, since neither softness nor toughness worked, she gave up coaxing: "Cry if you want, but don’t bla for speaking bluntly; if you can’t control yourself within ten minutes, I’ll request a room change tomorrow, don’t say I didn’t warn you."
"Change it if you want, who cares to share a room with you?" Luo Xiaoqiong was full of grievances and anger, not knowing where to vent them, and Qi Yuan made herself a target.
"You..." Qi Yuan was at a loss, her irritation rising with the crying, so she got up and slamd the door as she left. (To be continued.
