Seeing his youngest daughter enter, Father Li quickly approached her, unable to hide his anxiety: "Little Li, why are you ho so late? Have you had dinner?"
Thinking of the conversation between her mother and sister, her mother’s attitude towards her, and then looking at her father’s attitude, Li Xinli’s tears, which she had just stopped, rolled down again. She didn’t want to be like this in front of her father, but she couldn’t control it.
Father Li panicked and pulled his daughter to sit on the sofa: "Lili, what happened? Tell Dad, I’d risk this old life to vent it for you."
"Dad, I’m fine..." Li Xinli sniffed and forced a smile, "I just feel bad thinking about being apart from Dad tomorrow."
"Is that really the case?" Father Li looked at her skeptically, though his daughter wasn’t talkative, she wasn’t the soft type to cry easily.
"Really." Li Xinli nodded, "Originally, I wanted to live at ho, but when I went over today, our ho is too far from school, commuting every day is really inconvenient, so I’ll have to board."
Father Li was relieved: "Silly child, even if you’re boarding, it’s not like you won’t co back. You can certainly co ho at least once a month, and then you’ll see Dad."
"I’m worried about Dad being bullied at ho..." Li Xinli earnestly looked at her father, "Dad, when Mom nags you and you don’t want to listen, just go out, don’t always be her punching bag at ho.
Once I graduate and have a job, I’ll strive to quickly get my own house, so Dad won’t have to be poisoned by Mom at ho anymore."
"Ah!" Father Li sighed heavily, "Silly child, she is, after all, your mom. How could you speak of her like that? Besides, your mom’s just bad with words, her intentions are alright.
She didn’t live well after marrying , naturally has grievances towards , plus having two daughters with you, your grandparents don’t like her, so she takes it out on .
It’s Dad being useless, no wonder your mom looks down on Dad. Seeing you prosperous is what makes Dad happiest, just focus on studying, don’t keep worrying about Dad.
In a few more years as we get older, your mom’s temperant should ease, growing old together, growing old together, right? Dad can’t abandon your mom in old age, that would be heartless, wouldn’t it?"
"As long as Dad is happy." Li Xinli quickly stood up, "I’m a bit tired, going to my room. Dad, you should rest early too." She feared losing her temper if she stayed, thinking about how Mom treats Dad, and seeing Dad’s attitude, it felt as though her entire body was set ablaze.
Just then Yao Aifeng and Li Xinlan pushed the door open, glanced at the father and daughter’s expressions, and Yao Aifeng called out to Li Xinli who was headed to her room: "Stop!"
"Mom, what’s up?" Li Xinli turned to look at her mother, hoping her mother could sense sothing from her attitude, but unfortunately, Yao Aifeng was completely unappreciative, "What did you say to your Dad?"
Originally wanting to explain, Li Xinli couldn’t utter a word when the mont ca. She didn’t understand where her mother’s righteousness ca from, obviously she was in the wrong, why acting so accusative?
Wouldn’t it be better if this family split up than staying together?
The mont this idea appeared, she no longer wanted to explain, just quietly looked at her mother, saying nothing.
"Li Xinli!" Li Xinlan stared at her sister, her face darkening, "How can you be so immature, what good would it do if this family were broken up for you?"
Standing quietly there, quietly staring at mother and sister, Li Xinli still said nothing, Father Li, a bit anxious, started explaining for his youngest daughter: "What are you two doing? Xinli..."
"Dad..." Li Xinli interrupted her father, then looked at her mother and sister, "It’s Mom and Sis who want this family broken up, right? Mom, ask yourself honestly, have you been fair to Dad?
As for , do you have a reason to hate ? Just because I resemble Dad? Just because I held you back from divorcing to climb higher? Then I want to ask, did I ask you to bear ?"
"You..." Shocked by her daughter’s questioning, Yao Aifeng’s face flushed red, "If I had known, I should have strangled you at birth, save the trouble of you angering when grown!"
"It’d be better if you had strangled ..." Li Xinli looked at her mother with a faint expression, "If you had strangled at birth, Dad wouldn’t have suffered at your hands for so many years, and as for you, whether you climbed higher or ended up in jail, who knows."
"What exactly happened?" If Father Li didn’t understand by now, he’d truly be a fool. He knew of his wife’s infidelity back in the day, but later, seeing her settling down with him, he didn’t hold grudges.
He was clear on his youngest daughter’s character; she wouldn’t say such things without a reason.
"Don’t listen to her nonsense, I was talking with Xinlan about the past, don’t know when she overheard, and ca back with accusations.
You know what I’ve been like all these years, if there were anything between and Qu Xianming, gossip would have spread ages ago, wouldn’t it?"
This was the first ti his wife spoke to him so calmly about this matter over the years, and he looked at her without saying a word.
"I said all this truthfully, believe it or not, divorce if you want, move out right away, each takes a child, each cares for their elders, nothing much to fight about."
So this family was so worthless in his wife’s mind! Li Xinli looked at her mother with disappointnt, her heart slowly growing cold...
Actually, she regretted right after speaking earlier. If her mother and father truly divorced, this family would split. She was even angry at herself for entertaining such thoughts.
She even wished that once parents reconciled, she’d no longer hold past grievances against her mother, as long as she was willing to live well with Dad, it’d be enough. Once she graduated, she’d take good care of her parents, make her mother feel that marrying Dad and having her was a wonderful thing...
Unexpectedly, it turned out this way!
Father Li hadn’t expected his wife to so brazenly want to sweep him and his youngest daughter out. Past affairs, once gone, were gone. He hadn’t wanted to hold grudges, but today, with his wife still thinking of another man, it was truly like giving him repeated slaps.
He could endure, because he didn’t want this family broken up, because he always felt guilty for not giving his wife a good life. But now, since his wife spoke so heartlessly, if he continued to endure, he’d truly be weak to the bone.
"Fine, divorce." After saying this, Father Li clearly relaxed, he looked at his youngest daughter, "Little Li, Dad will move to the dormitory tomorrow, from then on, Dad will visit you weekly."
