The second watch had passed.
-----------
"Good!"
In the crowd gathered outside to watch the excitent, soone shouted, and the others imdiately joined in, chattering away. Regardless of what had happened before or what might happen later, for now, one was genuinely repenting and the other genuinely forgiving. That was enough.
Deep down, everyone still hoped that Lin Baohe and Lin Baojiang wouldn’t fall out completely. Ties mattered; they ant there might be a chance for them to return to Dalin Village in the future. If they really severed ties, the village likely wouldn’t benefit from them anymore.
Many wouldn’t admit it, but that was indeed the way people thought.
Liu iqing, who had rushed over with Liu ifeng, heard the clamor and, not knowing what had happened, curiously asked a woman in the crowd, "What’s going on inside?"
"You don’t know?" The woman raised her eyebrows, "Your Shuanshuan choked on a candy, but luckily your uncle’s family had a miracle doctor who saved him. Otherwise..."
"Shuanshuan, Shuanshuan..." Liu iqing frantically pushed her way inside. The woman behind her tried to explain further but failed to hold her back, so Liu ifeng also squeezed in after her sister.
The Lin family’s house was packed to the brim, so when the two won entered, it was impossible to discern anyone. Like headless flies, Liu iqing moved about, crying out, "Shuanshuan."
Helplessly, as she was closest to her, Chuxia tugged at her sleeve, "Sister-in-law, your brother has already taken Shuanshuan ho."
"Ah?" Startled, Liu iqing turned and ran outside.
Liu ifeng moved a step but then stopped, smiling at Chuxia, "Chuxia, congratulations, I wanted to visit you the last ti you were here, but didn’t quite dare to co."
"What’s there to be shy about?" Chuxia, still curious about her, said smiling, "After all, you’re my sister-in-law’s sister. We’ve t quite a few tis before. We might not be friends, but we’re acquaintances, right?"
"Yes..." Liu ifeng smiled sheepishly, "I was quite foolish before. My sister actually has a tough exterior but a soft heart. Don’t be mad at her."
"I don’t hold any grudges against her." The smile on Chuxia’s face quickly faded.
"Xiao Chuxia, co here."
"Great Aunt is calling . Sister ifeng, please make yourself comfortable." Chuxia apologized and turned to walk over to the Great Aunt. As she approached, the elderly lady stealthily winked at her, but her face remained serious, "Great Aunt’s back hurts. Can you give it a rub?"
"Sure thing." Chuxia quickly positioned herself behind her, bending slightly, "She’s my uncle’s wife’s sister. We used to live with my uncle’s family, and I saw her quite often, though we rarely interacted much."
"I could tell you two aren’t close. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have bothered you," Great Aunt chuckled, squinting, "Xiao Chuxia, not all your relatives here are great, but a few families are quite good. At least that eases my mind a bit."
"Yes, Uncle Gangshun, Dagang’s Grandpa, Uncle Jianfeng, and Uncle Jianxin all take good care of our family." Chuxia shared, adding gossip, "I’m quite curious how Liu ifeng ended up marrying Dagang’s Grandpa’s second grandson."
He’s Jianxin’s son with a disability in one leg. Liu ifeng used to think highly of herself; I don’t know how she settled on Guangxin.
By the way, Great Aunt, do you find it interesting that Jianxin and Guangxin’s nas are interesting? They’re father and son yet share the sa last character, hehe..."
This gossipy train of thought left the elderly lady with a bemused expression: "What exactly do you want to answer here?"
Chuxia giggled, "No need for answers. I was just telling you. But you know, having the sa character in the father and son’s nas, they say it’s because when Guangxin was born weak, Chen Family’s great-grandpa was still alive and said using the father’s character would stabilize the son’s fate. When Guangxin ended up with a la leg, everyone said, ’If not for his na Guangxin, he might have lost not just a leg but his life too.’ Great Aunt, do you believe in such things?"
"These matters, it’s hard to say. People call it superstitious nonsense, but so coincidences are indeed frightening..." Sighing, the elderly lady added, "Your grandparents, I an your biological ones, ca to stay with , and your great-grandfather wrote a letter."
