"You guys don’t know, the sister who went there before , she dumped all the dirty and tiring tasks on , and for no reason, she kept giving dirty looks. I just don’t understand why she was doing that to . Was it because she was jealous that I was younger than her?"
"Definitely." Yang Xiaoli patted her shoulder. "When the equipnt arrived, everyone else moved one box, but you moved two. Do you think she wouldn’t give you dirty looks?"
"What?" Lin ngran was stunned. "I was just helping out when I encountered it. Why would she be unhappy about it?"
"You and Doctor Huang worked together, and you were so competent that she had to follow suit. Everyone got praised, but it’s not the sa, is it?" Yang Xiaoli shook her head helplessly. "Back in the dical team, you were quite sharp. How co you’ve beco so dull now?"
"Indeed, compared to you kids from political families, I can’t match up." Lin ngran hung her head. "I really racked my brains and still couldn’t figure out where I went wrong. So that’s it. But how did you know about it? Could it be that everyone already knows?"
"She and my cousin are friends. She ca to her to complain."
Lin Xiaoran breathed a sigh of relief, "As long as not everyone sees as a public enemy, that’s good. By the way, keep updated if there’s any new info, I really appreciate it."
"I’ll try." Yang Xiaoli said, pulling the two of them together, "Let’s go find our relatives, it’s ti to start the banquet. We’ll talk later."
As the two left, Yu Tao moved closer to Chuxia and whispered, "Are those two your comrades?"
"Yes." Chuxia nodded. "We’re all from the hospital team. Now a few of us were assigned to Ward 401. We don’t interact much usually, but seeing each other here feels especially close."
"That’s why I grabbed the eldest sister-in-law to chat over here, so as not to disturb you guys." Jiang Shan admitted feeling guilty about bringing Chuxia out and encountering Ye iru, her words carried a hint of appeasent.
Just then, they were called to start the al, and Chuxia just gave her a smile and didn’t say anything. They all stood up and followed Old Madam Zhou, Lin Yanqiu, and Old Lady Jiang to take their seats. Due to Eldest Madam Jiang, Old Madam Zhou and Lin Yanqiu were pulled up to the main table, Chuxia and Yu Tao were seated with the younger mbers of the Jiang Family, with Jiang Shan sitting next to Chuxia. Yu Tao had Wang Man beside her, who was about the sa age and they had t a few tis before. Both being pregnant, they struck up a conversation after a short while.
Jiang Shan whispered to Chuxia: "See, people who have sothing in common find topics easily. Before, my sister-in-law and your sister-in-law just exchanged greetings and polite words, but now they really found sothing to talk about. Third sister-in-law, do you want to move to a table with your comrades? If you want to be with them, I can arrange it for you."
Chuxia smiled helplessly at her: "Jiang Shan, you weren’t responsible for what happened back then. If we disregard Zhou Mikang, I’m even younger than you. Can you be more casual when talking to ? Is that okay?"
"I—" Jiang Shan looked embarrassed. "It’s all my fault. Otherwise, third sister-in-law wouldn’t have to mind her expressions. By now, she’s probably rolled her eyes at countless tis. So annoying."
"That’s what I an. Even if we hadn’t t back then, we were bound to et sooner or later. She doesn’t like , and she was bound to pick a fight, right?"
"That’s true." Jiang Shan breathed a sigh of relief. "I was overthinking it, thinking too poorly of third sister-in-law."
Chuxia nodded earnestly: "Absolutely, I’m very magnanimous."
"Pfft!" The girl sitting next to Jiang Shan burst out laughing. She was Jiang Feng, Jiang Shan’s seventh sister. When Chuxia had greeted her earlier and saw her burst out laughing, she joked, "My skin is too thick, right?"
"Not at all, not at all." Jiang Feng waved her hands, "I think you’re pretty good."
"Sister, co over and talk with the third sister-in-law for a bit. I’ll go have a few words with Lv Fu. At that ti, she wasn’t influenced by Ye iru’s instigation, and I haven’t had the chance to thank her yet."
Jiang Feng then moved next to Chuxia: "Third sister-in-law, how old are you this year?"
Chuxia replied with an open face, "Eighteen."
"Actually, I know. I just didn’t know what else to say, so I asked about your age." Jiang Feng smiled awkwardly, "Do you think my question was really stupid?"
"Not at all." Chuxia shook her head, "When we first et, isn’t it all about finding sothing to talk about? Speaking of which, are you still studying, working, in the military, or doing sothing else?"
Jiang Feng smiled sheepishly, "I’m in the military arts. Singing is okay, but my voice is diocre. I was assigned to the choir, and even then to the large choir. I don’t even get a turn in the small choir."
Even though a voice can be improved with practice, natural talent is also very important. Chuxia, unable to find a better way to console her, simply said, "Being in the large choir is also good; you don’t have to worry too much."
"Do you think so too?" Jiang Feng’s eyes suddenly brightened, "That’s exactly how I feel. I don’t like competing. If it were a solo or a small choir, there would be a lot of conflicts, but in a large choir, there isn’t all that ssy stuff.
Besides, I know my own limits. Being able to do what I like already makes very happy. However, my younger sister always says I lack ambition, and I feel that way about myself too, but it seems this isn’t sothing I can achieve just by striving, alas."
Thinking back to when she was chatting with Jiang Shan and how Jiang Shan had repeatedly expressed regret that she couldn’t be Huang Suai’s apprentice, she knew Jiang Shan was the type of person who never wanted to admit defeat, while Jiang Feng, obviously, had a more go-with-the-flow personality. Chuxia then comforted her, "It’s normal to have different personalities and viewpoints. Being happy with what you’re doing is still very important, right?"
Jiang Feng nodded gratefully, "Third sister-in-law, you are the first one to truly support positively. Thank you."
"Don’t ntion it. I just expressed my opinion; I didn’t really help you with anything."
As they were talking, the dishes started to co one after another.
Although Zhou Mikang’s age and status were apparent, everyone still felt a bit unsure how to interact with this considerably younger brother-in-law (sister-in-law). So, after the initial formalities, they left her in the care of Jiang Shan and Jiang Feng, who were closest in age to her.
Now that Jiang Shan hadn’t co back, Jiang Feng assud the responsibility of taking care of Chuxia. (To be continued. If you like this work, please co to Qidian (qidian) to vote for it, and cast your monthly tickets. Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please visit m.qidian to read.)
