The first update arrived.
-------------
The car stopped in front of the hospital, Chuxia opened the door, waved to Mikang, and imdiately ran off. As she stepped away, she caught a glimpse of a dark shadow rushing toward her; she instinctively wanted to step back but her legs couldn’t keep up with her brain’s commands, causing her body to uncontrollably fall forward...
Just as she was about to accept her fate, losing almost all her wits and closing her eyes, sothing forcefully pulled her backward, moving her several steps back as the bicycle whizzed past her, brushing closely by her clothes.
That was close! If it had hit her... Chuxia patted her chest in fright, turned around and saw Regintal Commander Tongzi lying face down on the seat, with the gear lever firmly poking at his chest, which scared her so much that she hurriedly helped him up, gently rubbing his chest, "How is it, does it hurt?"
Commander Tongzi frowned as he got up and sized her up, "Did it scrape you?"
"No, no." Chuxia asked worriedly, "Do you feel any discomfort? How about you co with and let Teacher Song help check on you?"
"No need..." Mikang frowned, got out of the car, and Chuxia quickly helped him steady himself by the arm, no longer caring what others might think.
"I’m fine, but him, to ride a bike like that, he sure has a knack..."
Following Mikang’s gaze, Chuxia saw the perpetrator, now blood-faced, climbing up and gasping for breath as he moved towards them, "Sorry, sorry." He hurriedly apologized as the two looked over, his face sared with blood, unrecognizable, but Chuxia recognized his voice, "Brother Cheng, what were you rushing for?"
"My bicycle broke, and today I borrowed Da Bao’s bike, which has hand brakes, I’m used to foot brakes. When I leaned back, I didn’t slow down but panicked and pushed forward instead. It was downhill, and with that push, the bike just flew..."
Seeing blood still flowing from his head, Chuxia quickly interrupted him, "Brother Cheng, you better hurry to the ergency room." She then pushed Mikang aside, "You get on with your things, I’ll take Brother Cheng to the ergency room."
"You go report to Auntie Song." Without further discussion, Mikang took Cheng Guo and headed inside. Helplessly, Chuxia secured Cheng Guo’s bicycle, and by the ti she reached the ergency room, Cheng Guo had already been examined and bandaged up. Mikang gave her a stern look, and she obediently detoured to the office of Song Xiaoyu.
He watched her graceful figure vanish around the corner before Mikang could withdraw his gaze. Of course, his not letting her help was not out of jealousy but because he perceived sothing unusual about the accident.
He did not want to scare her and could only divert her for the ti being.
Chuxia was also perplexed; she had always known Mikang as an extrely arrogant and confident man, and now that she was married to him, it would not be easy for her to beco rattled.
Wang Jing had already changed her clothes, and when she walked in, she nodded faintly before picking up a warm bottle and leaving, clearly handing off the cleaning duties to Chuxia.
Chuxia didn’t mind doing a bit more work, but her impression of Wang Jing fell to rock bottom. Initially, she only thought Wang Jing was occasionally a bit too jealous, but now it seed she was the type who would not act without a profit motive.
Such people would hardly achieve anything significant wherever they are placed. Honestly speaking, while Song Xiaoyu was impeccable in dical practice, she had real problems with judging and utilizing people.
Of course, there had been a ti when even Chuxia was deceived by Wang Jing’s facade; she had to admit, the girl was a very skilled actress, just a bit too shallow.
"Are you cleaning again?" Luo Xiaoqiong stood at the door, looking displeased, "Isn’t she going too far? Director Song already arranged the duty roster for you all, why does she always make you clean?"
"What can I do, being a junior?" Chuxia laughed lightly, "It’s just sweeping the floor and wiping the tables, it’s nothing, and besides, I get to exercise a bit through this, right?"
"Chuxia, before you would not let anyone take advantage of you, what’s changed? Is marrying into the Zhou family so demanding that you must retract your claws and beco docile?"
"Retract my claws and beco docile?" she repeated, then smiled happily, "Baby, thank you for reminding . From now on, I really should retract my claws and beco docile."
"What do you an?" Luo Xiaoqiong was utterly bewildered.
"Alright, let’s not talk about what it ans. If you are not busy right now, go check on Cheng Guo in the ergency room. He fell off his bike and split his head open. Mikang is with him in the ergency room."
"Commander Zhou is back?" Xiaoqiong’s eyes widened in surprise, "And your brother, has he co back too?"
"No, Mikang ca back for a eting; he will return again in a few days. My brother is fine; you can ask Mikang for the details later and report back to ."
"Okay." With that, Luo Xiaoqiong quickly ran off and disappeared.
Chuxia laughed and shook her head, every ti she spoke of Zhao Qiliang, she pretended it was nothing, but in fact, she really cared about him deep down.
After she finished sweeping the floor and wiping the table, Wang Jing also ca back with a thermos.
It was always like this.
If it were in her previous life, Chuxia would definitely suspect that there were caras installed in the room, otherwise, how could she always enter at exactly the right mont?
"The water room was too crowded, it took ages to get a kettle of water, Chuxia. I’m not making you clean because I’m lazy. You’re new here, how could you push past those old hands?
Of course, you could get water after they’ve finished, but by then, the boiler can’t keep up, and the water you get will only be lukewarm at sixty or seventy degrees. If you drink that regularly, it’s not good for your health."
Realizing her timing was too coincidental, Wang Jing rarely offered an explanation.
Chuxia looked at her with a half-smile, "Sister, you have it tough."
"It’s what I should do." Wang Jing smiled unnaturally and picked up Song Xiaoyu’s cup to head out.
Every ti Song Xiaoyu entered, she was sure to see the scene of her just having her tea made.
Reflecting on what her mother-in-law had told her, Chuxia shook her head internally. The teacher still didn’t realize how many truly good candidates she had missed. Wang Jing had talent in dicine, but with her level of open-mindedness and breadth of view, becoming a great physician would be difficult.
Actually, not just becoming a Great Physician, even becoming a renowned doctor was challenging.
As usual, when Song Xiaoyu entered, Wang Jing had just prepared her tea and "finished" wiping down the desk, looking at her with a sweet smile, "Good morning, teacher."
"Good morning." Song Xiaoyu nodded at her with a smile, then looked towards Chuxia sitting aside, "What do you think, from today on can you co to work every day?"
A smirk curved on Wang Jing’s lips. She thought this was Song Xiaoyu’s dissatisfaction towards Chuxia. For her, it was enough to be the favorite in the teacher’s heart, let alone who the other interns were or what their backgrounds might be. The teacher only liked students with real skills; she had no interest in those who ca through the back door.
But Chuxia knew that Song Xiaoyu must have t Zhou Mikang. These words were just teasing her, so she smiled helplessly, "Teacher, haven’t I been working every day these days?"
"Today Chuxia will accompany on rounds, Wang Jing, you stay in the office." As Song Xiaoyu spoke, she had already changed her clothes and was walking out, Wang Jing’s complexion stiffened, and she reluctantly sat back down, not forgetting to give a disdainful glance at Chuxia who was following Song Xiaoyu out the door.
Song Xiaoyu intentionally trained Chuxia. At each patient’s bedside, she would first let Chuxia do the routine inquiry, then critically ask her about the patient’s recovery compared to expectations, and finally have her summarize the situation to the patient and their family.
People of this era were still very generous. Seeing that she was teaching a student, they were not impatient at all but cooperated with smiles. So even brought up issues Chuxia hadn’t considered.
People in this era were really simple.
Chuxia felt a faint ache in her heart. She found herself gradually falling in love with this era.
Indeed, there were so things she could never get used to, but in terms of human nature and the environnt, she preferred it now.
When Cheng Guo fell down this morning, by chance, there wasn’t a single person outside, otherwise, whether they knew him or not, soone would definitely have co forward to help.
Unlike her own era, where helping soone could lead to a major lawsuit.
"What’s the matter, feeling wronged?" On the way back, seeing that Chuxia was silent, Song Xiaoyu sized her up and sighed, "I know Wang Jing sotis puts on too much of an air, but eventually, you two have to get along. If I get involved, I can only transfer her away. After all, having been by my side for so many years, I still have feelings for her. Chuxia, I do hope you two can coexist peacefully."
"No, it’s not that. I’m really grateful that the patients are willing to cooperate with , and I’m also reflecting on the inadequacy of my own consideration..." Chuxia looked earnestly at Song Xiaoyu, "Teacher, when I first chose to study dicine, there were two factors. First, the physical requirents for a dical soldier are lower than for a regular soldier. As you know my constitution, I wouldn’t be suitable for normal female soldier training, so I chose to apply as a dical soldier to break out.
The second reason, I thought that having studied dicine, even after demobilization, at the very least, I could work at a health clinic as a health worker, possessing a skill.
But now, I’ve truly grown fond of this job. Indeed, compared to other jobs, the workload for a doctor isn’t light, and the psychological pressure is quite substantial too.
However, the longing look patients give when they see a doctor, and the sincere smiles when they recover, really give a sense of fulfillnt. Of course, my current sense of fulfillnt cos from being with you, teacher. I hope that one day, I can bring this kind of satisfaction to patients by myself."(To be continued.
