It was late into the night.

After dinner, Yu Tao pulled Chuxia aside for a chat, "Sister-in-law, what did you feel when the scalpel made its cut? Were you scared?"
After thinking for a bit, Chuxia said, "The hardest part was the initial incision, even when experinting on lab rats, they’re not humans, but they’re still living beings, and it’s hard not to have shaky hands. But the more you fear, the more likely mistakes will happen, so I forced myself to calm down.
As for operating on people, I had followed my teacher into the operating room before, so I wasn’t that afraid. Besides, during the operation, only the location where the scalpel goes is exposed, not the whole body, so it’s not that scary."
"You are really brave, sister-in-law, I couldn’t do it," Yu Tao said, taking a deep breath, "Just thinking about the bloody incision makes my whole body feel cold.
I can’t imagine how you, seeming so gentle and frail, can be so courageous. Not gonna lie, when you first wanted to beco a doctor, I really didn’t think you would stick with it."
"Was my sister-in-law just waiting for to give up?"
"No, no..." Yu Tao quickly waved her hand, "I was just worried about you, I really didn’t hope for you to give up."
"I know, you’re getting so worked up, sister-in-law," Chuxia teased with a smile, "It seems like you don’t really consider family, otherwise, why would you be in such a hurry to explain?"
Yu Tao just smiled and nodded, "Alright, I won’t explain anymore. Whether I consider you family or not, you should know that yourself."
"That’s more like it." Chuxia, still smiling, reached out to touch her belly, "The little one has finally settled down. Sister-in-law must be feeling so happy now, right?"
"Yes," Yu Tao nodded, "He was troubling a lot before. When I was feeling sick from vomiting, I thought to myself, once he’s born, I’m going to spank him.
But later, when he stopped troubling , I got scared instead, fearing sothing had gone wrong with him. Fortunately, Doctor Lv said he’s developing very well, very healthy."
"As long as you keep your mood up, everything will be fine with him," Chuxia said aningfully. In the recent past, Yu Tao’s younger brother and sister-in-law had a conflict with their parents, and Yu Tao was caught in the middle, which affected her emotions badly and led to severe vomiting that left her physically weakened.
"I know," Yu Tao said, patting Chuxia’s hand with a smile, "I’ve co to terms with it. In family life, there’s no avoiding minor conflicts. I just didn’t understand that before, but I won’t be foolish again."
Chuxia comfortingly squeezed her hand in support.
Speaking of which, she really was fortunate. Back at her own family’s house, her parents treated her well. Marrying into her husband’s family, they treated her well too. Although there were those who disliked her, as long as they didn’t hover around her, they couldn’t affect her mood.
Compared to her, Yu Tao’s life seed sowhat less fortunate.
While marrying into her husband’s family did not bring her any grievances, her own family mbers caused her great difficulty.
The daughters of ordinary families who marry into powerful families are often expected to help their own families out a bit more.

After her parents had a falling out with her younger brother and sister-in-law, as a younger family mber, it was natural for Yu Tao to intervene and ask them to be more understanding toward their parents and not always make the elders angry.
At the ti, her parents were quite grateful to her, but after making up with her younger brother and sister-in-law, they beca much colder towards her—to avoid upsetting the daughter-in-law.
The daughter-in-law said that even though her sister-in-law married well, she didn’t really help the family much outside of caring for the elderly. What else had she done?
Mingming could have been given a better job by her, but she just watched as he worked as an ordinary worker in the workshop. This ant that the elder sister-in-law only cared about her husband’s family and her own life.
Although her parents defended her verbally, they were, to so extent, influenced by the younger sister-in-law, and Yu Tao could clearly feel it.
Because of this, she felt disheartened and decided to truly focus on her pregnancy, no longer ddling in her own family’s affairs.
All of this, she did not keep from her husband’s family, so consciously or unconsciously, they would all advise her. In fact, she had moved past it during that ti, just that nobody else knew.
"I truly have moved on. To my parents, the closest kin are their son and his family. No matter the quarrel, they are still blood. If I were to ddle blindly, that would just an I have a problem in my head," Yu Tao emphasized again, worried that Chuxia wouldn’t believe her.
