Gu Yi started tidying up a bit and picked up so of Gu’s mother’s pickled vegetables.
Then she went to the balcony to get a slab of cured at and went to Ye Honglian’s house with Ye Hao.
After they knocked on the door, it was Ye Honglian who opened it.
"You’re here, co in quickly. The food is all ready."
"Sister-in-law, Happy New Year! Then we’ll shalessly co eat what’s ready. These are homade pickled vegetables and cured at to let you and Liu Lianzhang have a taste."
Gu Yi said as she handed the things she brought to Ye Honglian.
"What’s this for, calling you over for a al, and you bring stuff like it’s al paynt. You take it back later."
Ye Honglian said with a smile, not accepting the things.
"Sister-in-law, this is all homade, I think the taste is quite good, so I brought it for you to try."
Gu Yi directly bypassed Ye Honglian and took the stuff into the kitchen.
"Alright, this ti I’ll accept it, next ti don’t do this, okay? We have a good relationship, calling you over for a al to liven things up, no need to bring anything."
Ye Honglian posed as a sister-in-law said.
"Okay, I’ll rember, alright?"
Gu Yi wrapped her arm around Ye Honglian’s arm and said with a smile.
"Co and sit down to eat."
Liu Guoqing called out.
When Gu Yi and Ye Honglian sat down, Ye Hao and the others had already started drinking.
Ye Honglian served so rice to Qiangqiang, placed it on a small stool, letting him eat by himself.
She sat down to chat with Gu Yi.

Ye Honglian sat down and started talking to Gu Yi about this.

Gu Yi truly didn’t know, but she was still interested in listening to gossip about her enemy.
"The day after you left, her mother-in-law ca over, saying Chen Jun gave too little money each month, so she ca looking."
"Wasn’t it said Chen Jun sends half of his allowance to his parents every month? That much money should be quite sufficient in rural areas?"
Li Dongxiang was having a hard ti because she had to send money every month.
"Chen Jun said he sends that much every month, but Li Dongxiang withheld half and maintained the sa lifestyle to avoid Chen Jun finding out. So Chen Jun never noticed until his mother ca knocking, and he found out."
Ye Honglian explained the situation to Gu Yi.
Gu Yi thought this Li Dongxiang was quite a "talent".
"What was Chen Jun’s reaction when he found out?"
Gu Yi thought that given Chen Jun’s pride, with his mom showing up, Li Dongxiang wouldn’t get away easily.
"When Chen Jun found out, he was furious. Despite it being almost the New Year, he gave Li Dongxiang a thorough beating, the intensity was frightening."
The commotion Chen Jun made that day attracted a crowd, Ye Honglian also went to see.
Although Li Dongxiang’s usual behavior wasn’t comndable, seeing Chen Jun beat her rcilessly made Ye Honglian pity her.
That Chen Jun usually seed mild-mannered, but he didn’t hold back when dealing the blows.
"What was Chen Jun’s mom’s reaction?"
Gu Yi always thought Chen Jun’s mom deliberately tid it near the New Year, making the situation bigger.
"Chen Jun’s mom is quite formidable too. Even we outsiders couldn’t stand by, while she calmly watched Chen Jun beat Li Dongxiang without saying a word for Li Dongxiang."
Ye Honglian recalled the calm deanor of the old lady, as if the beating wasn’t severe enough.
Ye Honglian’s words indirectly confird Gu Yi’s thoughts.
The old lady did it on purpose to show everyone how her daughter-in-law skimped on their living expenses, ruining their New Year.
"Has the old lady left yet?"
"Not yet, said she’s not going back. She’s staying here with Chen Jun, while Chen Jun’s dad is taking care back ho."
"Li Dongxiang’s days ahead won’t be easy."
Gu Yi didn’t have any special emotions, just a bit of feeling, bad people will be dealt with by others.
But she was quite happy soone ca to deal with Li Dongxiang, as it ant Li Dongxiang wouldn’t be able to pop up to cause her trouble unprovoked.
"Why do you gossip about other people’s business like that?"
Liu Guoqing, drinking with Ye Hao, said to Ye Honglian.
"Let the won chat; let’s have our drinks."
Ye Hao chid in.
Liu Guoqing was quite surprised to hear Ye Hao, who wasn’t usually interested in hearing gossip.
But Liu Guoqing didn’t know that although Ye Hao kept drinking, he hadn’t missed Gu Yi’s excitent about hearing the story.
"Yeah, Ye Hao and Gu Yi aren’t outsiders. We’re just talking at ho, what’s the harm? It’s mostly that Li Dongxiang usually acts terribly, so she got beaten that way, and no one stepped in to help. Only later did Li Camp Commander intervene to stop Chen Jun."

Gu Yi finished talking, planning to wash up and sleep. She hadn’t quite recovered from the long bus trip.
The next day, Ye Hao went to work on base.
Gu Yi had a few days until school started, so she planned to stay at the base these days.
At ho, there was pickled vegetables from Gu’s mother, along with cured at and pickled fish, all she needed was to buy fresh vegetables daily.
That day when she was heading back to the base from the outdoor market with groceries.
She encountered an old lady she hadn’t seen before.
Gu Yi guessed imdiately it was Chen Jun’s mom.
Her appearance seed unapproachable.
Originally, Gu Yi planned to pretend not to recognize anyone and just pass by.
Unexpectedly, as she brushed past, Chen Jun’s mom stopped her with a smile and asked.
"Girl, are you from Ye Hao Camp Commander’s family?"
Gu Yi was taken aback for a mont, considering she had no conflict with Chen Jun’s mom temporarily; in so sense, they were even allies.
"Yes, Aunt. Do you need anything?"
Gu Yi answered with a smile.
"Our Chen Jun ntioned my brainless daughter-in-law had so unpleasantness with you, please forgive her."
Although Chen Jun’s mom spoke kindly, her eyes bore into Gu Yi, applying pressure. As if she wouldn’t look away until Gu Yi forgave her.
If Gu Yi hadn’t lived another lifeti, she might have been intimidated.
"Aunt, we’ve moved past it, anyway, the leadership has educated Sister-in-law Li, no more occurrences allowed, don’t worry."
Gu Yi adeptly deflected the topic.
She said she had to go back to make dinner and parted ways with Chen Jun’s mom.
