After the rest of the Ye Family left, more guests ca by.

Those who visited often were quite friendly and greeted her warmly when they saw her.

As Gu Yi handed them the items they wanted, she also answered their questions.

Once all the custors left the store, she began preparing for the next day.

Ti flew by quickly, and New Year’s Day was just around the corner.

On a weekend before New Year’s Day, Gu Yi made another trip back to the Gu Family.

The last ti she left, she promised her sister-in-law to help them co up with ideas when she ca back.

She had thought a lot over these past few days.

It’s cold now, and many people have chosen to hold weddings on New Year’s Day or just before the New Year.

Accompanying dowries are trendy these days, and many items include wooden crafts.

So people prepare early, but others make decisions very hastily.

If sothing ready-made is available at such tis, it can solve their urgent needs.

Gu Yi returned this ti to discuss this business idea with her older brother and sister-in-law.

When she got ho, only Gu’s parents were there; her sister-in-law and second sister-in-law had nothing much to do recently and hadn’t brought the kids to Gu’s mother.

They kept them at their own hos and only ca over during als.

Gu Yi first gave the things she bought to her parents, and Gu’s mother nagged her a bit.

"Mom, I’m going to take the things I bought for Huihui and Minmin over to them."

Gu Yi found the items she bought for them and put them in another bag to take.

"At noon, your sisters-in-law will be here; why make an extra trip when you can give it to them then?"

Gu’s mother thought it was unnecessary to make a special trip.

"It’s fine, I don’t have much to do anyway, I can just take a walk."

Gu Yi knew it wasn’t necessary, but she wanted to talk to her sister-in-law about their business.

She wasn’t sure if her sister-in-law would want her second sister-in-law to know and was worried about saying it in front of everyone and causing trouble.

Later, she would ask her sister-in-law’s opinion; if she didn’t want others involved,

then she would ask about her second sister-in-law’s plans and find another way.

In fact, Gu Yi thought her sister-in-law was better suited for business; she was quick-witted and articulate.

Her second sister-in-law wasn’t a bad person, but if she had to handle things publicly, it would probably be quite difficult.

But she feared that if she only helped her older brother and sister-in-law, her second brother and sister-in-law might have thoughts about it.

Thinking about this, she was already at her second sister-in-law’s doorstep.

She went up and knocked on the door, and after waiting for a while with no one answering, she called out inside, but still, no one responded.

Her shouting caught the attention of the neighbor’s aunt next door, who ca out.

Seeing it was her, the neighbor hurriedly inford her that her second sister-in-law wasn’t ho.

"I just ran into her, your second sister-in-law took the children back to her mother’s ho, sothing about her father not feeling well, she seed quite anxious."

Gu Yi thanked her and headed toward her sister-in-law’s house.

She didn’t know her departure would prompt the neighbor to ntion her to her husband at ho.

As soon as the neighbor returned ho, her husband asked,

"Who was it?"

"It was Gu Yi, the girl from the old Gu family. Wow, you wouldn’t believe how much she’s changed since getting married! She’s slimd down and looks prettier, and she’s very polite. I heard from soone in the next village that she even opened a shop in the city, she’s so capable."

The neighbor spoke with a hint of envy, wishing her own child could be that way.

"What, you want a daughter-in-law who can open a shop too? Co on, let it go. Back then, weren’t you the one who didn’t think much of her? When people joked about pairing her with our son, you almost went to chase down her family. And look, now that she’s proven herself capable, why feel envious?"

Her husband was quite straightforward; back then, he did indeed consider pairing Gu Yi with their son.

After all, Old Gu dotes on his daughter, so how could he treat a son-in-law badly?

But at the ti, he hadn’t even discussed it with his wife; she was already displeased at the idea of Gu Yi with their son, so he knew it wouldn’t work.

The old Gus wouldn’t let Gu Yi marry into a family where she’d be disregarded. Later, seeing that their son wasn’t interested in Gu Yi, he didn’t bring it up again.

"Back then, Gu Yi was both chubby and quiet; who could have predicted such a big change?"

The neighbor sighed with a hint of regret, wishing they could foresee what the future held.

Honestly, Gu Yi had no idea there was this much backstory.

When she was in school, she lived on campus and rarely went out when she ca ho.

Her parents cared for her so much; they didn’t let these botherso matters reach her at all.

Her elder brother’s house and her second brother’s house were a bit apart, but equidistant from Gu’s father and mother’s place.

Her brothers built their houses by buying old houses in the village, tearing them down, and constructing new ones.

Gu Yi went directly from her second sister-in-law’s to her sister-in-law’s place.

She stood at the entrance and knocked, and soon her sister-in-law ca out.

Seeing it was Gu Yi, she was quite happy,

knowing Gu Yi’s visit was likely about the matter they’d discussed last ti.

She quickly invited Gu Yi inside.

Gu Hui heard her voice and rushed out from the room, hugging her waist.

Her sister-in-law smiled on the side and told Gu Hui,

"Let your aunt sit down quickly."

She looked at Gu Yi and said.

"This little girl is closest to you; she talks about you every day, asking when you’ll co, saying she misses you."

"Huihui, do you miss your aunt?"

Gu Yi playfully teased the little girl.

"Yes, very much."

The little girl replied earnestly.

Both Gu Yi and her sister-in-law laughed.

Gu Yi quickly took out the items she bought for her: a down jacket, a pair of leggings, and a pair of little boots.

"Do you like them?"

"I like them."

"Why do you keep buying her so many things?"

Her sister-in-law felt genuinely a bit embarrassed as Gu Yi always brought things for Gu Hui whenever she visited.

"I just happened to see them and thought they’d look cute on the girls. Sister-in-law, here’s a wool sweater for you and my brother, the store clerk said it’s very warm. You should try it later."

Gu Yi handed two sweaters to her sister-in-law.

"Why did you buy sothing for too?"

Her sister-in-law’s heart felt warm; Gu Yi never forgot about her whenever she had sothing to give.

To be honest, she treated her own family well too, but she couldn’t reach this level.

Furthermore, she used to be better to her own family than to Gu Yi, yet it was Gu Yi who touched her the most.

"Sister-in-law, I mainly ca to talk about the thing we discussed last ti."

"Yeah, do you have any ideas?"

Her sister-in-law handed Gu Yi a cup of hot water and quickly pulled a chair over to sit next to her.

"Yes, I have an idea. Sister-in-law, I told you and my brother to make so wooden basins and buckets if you have spare ti. Did you do that?"

"I told your brother, but with so many weddings lately, he only managed to make a few in the evenings, not too many."

"That’s okay, no rush. My idea is to also make so festive furniture, so please discuss this with my brother, and prepare a set according to average dowry standards."

"Alright, I’ll tell your brother this evening."

"There’s sothing else, sister-in-law. I wanted to ask if you plan to involve my second brother and second sister-in-law?"

As Gu Yi spoke, she kept observing her sister-in-law’s expression.
