"Yiyi, when you have so free ti, let’s invite our comrades for a al. Last ti, they helped us tidy up the house."
Ye Hao held Gu Yi’s hand and decided to seek her opinion.
"Sure, it’d be a chance to get to know them."
Gu Yi didn’t mind at all. It seems such gatherings are a habit in their military community.
Whenever soone’s family visits, they’re supposed to invite close friends over for a al to get acquainted.
In a previous life, when she first arrived at the base, Ye Hao did invite people over. However, Gu Yi was quite scared and didn’t dare to raise her head the entire ti, leading to rumors in the base that Ye Hao didn’t favor her much.
"Alright, I’ll invite those we’re close with."
Gu Yi agreed quickly, and Ye Hao was rather pleased.
"Set a date then, and let know how many people approximately, so I can prepare in advance."
Gu Yi thought it was best to clarify these things first; otherwise, preparing too little food would be unappreciated and tireso.
"Okay, shall we fix it for the night after tomorrow? The day after is the weekend so it doesn’t matter if everyone has a little more to drink. I’ll call people tomorrow and have the kitchen staff bring us the ingredients the morning after."
Ye Hao thought this arrangent was quite good.
"Sounds good, I’ll start drafting a nu when I get back."
"No rush, you can draft it tomorrow. Yiyi, thank you."
Since they were outside, Ye Hao resisted the urge to hug Gu Yi and tightly gripped her hand instead.
"Every ti I see others having guests over, I think about when you and I can host a gathering, have everyone over for dinner, listen to them praise your beauty and capability, and then complint for being so fortunate to have found you."
Sotis Ye Hao thinks his ideas are quite childish, but ever since being with Gu Yi, such thoughts have grown more frequent. He always hopes the whole world can know they are a couple.
"Ye Hao, how can you be so adorable? Your contrasting charm has its appeal too, doesn’t it?"
Gu Yi raised both hands to cup Ye Hao’s face and shook it playfully.
Ye Hao didn’t quite understand the term "contrasting charm," but he knew Gu Yi was in a good mood, which made his mood better too.
Due to Ye Hao’s lack of self-control, Gu Yi didn’t wake up until after ten the next day.
Gu Yi felt a mix of love and resentnt towards Ye Hao. About everything else, whatever Gu Yi said was just that, but when it ca to intimacy, he acted like a ravenous wolf.
Her body aches turned into a bundle of complaints.
Eventually, she thought that it’s because they hadn’t been together, that’s why Ye Hao acted this way. Thinking of this, Gu Yi felt a bit of heartache for Ye Hao.
Once she freshened up, she planned to get a cup of water, and while walking into the kitchen, she found a note on the table.
"Yiyi, I love you, thank you for your hard work. I’ve washed the clothes, ward the buns in the pot, and there’s cool boiled water in the cup, just rember to mix so hot water when drinking."
Gu Yi stood there dumbfounded, holding the note and smiling foolishly.
After a while, she took the buns out of the pot, drank so water, ate a little, and began preparing lunch.
Since the fish was quite large, she made soup with the fish head and tail.
She cut the fish body into chunks for braising. After cooking, Gu Yi served two plates, one for lunch and another for dinner.
She also made scrambled eggs with chilies.
As the dishes were placed on the table, Ye Hao returned.
"Did you sleep well last night?"
Ye Hao was really hitting the nail on the head.
"Do you even need to ask if I slept well?"
She felt heartache, but at this ntion, Gu Yi was a little upset.
Ye Hao was perplexed. He actually wanted to ask if sleeping here felt comfortable.
He quickly realized his mistake.
"My fault, my fault. Eat more fish for nourishnt."
As he said this, he served several pieces of fish to Gu Yi.
Gu Yi originally intended to scold him a bit, but seeing his playful smile and how he tried to appease her, she couldn’t bring herself to lecture him.
During the noon break, Ye Hao repeatedly assured Gu Yi they’d just sleep and do nothing else.
Only then did Gu Yi agree to rest on the bed.
She was genuinely tired. After lying down for a while, her breathing beca steady.
Ye Hao pulled her closer, satisfied, and found a comfortable position to sleep in.
In the afternoon, Gu Yi went out to buy groceries. There were more people on the streets than yesterday.
Soone even approached her for a chat.
"Are you from Deputy Battalion Commander Ye’s family from the first battalion? You arrived just yesterday, right? I hadn’t seen you before."
"Yes, I got here just yesterday."
Gu Yi didn’t recognize them, but knowing to remain cordial, she smiled as she responded.
"I’m from the first company’s commander Chen Jun’s family, and my na is Li Dongxiang. You seem younger than , so I’ll call you little sister-in-law. Are you heading out for groceries? Let’s go together."
"Alright, let’s go together."
Gu Yi thought the person seed overly enthusiastic, but since it didn’t make her uncomfortable, she went along.
Since there was fish at ho, Gu Yi only bought a bit of greens.
"Little sister-in-law, won’t you buy so more?"
Li Dongxiang asked, looking at the greens in Gu Yi’s hand.
"No need, this is enough for today. If I need more, I’ll co back tomorrow, and it’ll be fresher."
Gu Yi actually didn’t like stocking up at ho. With exam preparations, she hadn’t had ti to shop frequently and bought quite a lot in one go. Now that there wasn’t much to do here, she’d rather buy as needed to enjoy fresh food.
"Little sister-in-law, you surely have thoughtful insight. We usually buy enough for several days, and so things wilt at ho."
Despite Li Dongxiang saying this, her expression wasn’t entirely genuine, but Gu Yi didn’t care.
Upon returning, she finished cooking, stir-frying the greens, and kept so aside to make egg and vegetable soup, reheating the fish too.
She finished cooking earlier today than yesterday. Once the al was ready she quickly took her clothes and went for a shower.
By the ti she was done, Ye Hao also ca back.
"Hurry up and shower, I purposely made dinner early today."
"It’s okay, no rush. Just set it at the regular ti next ti."
Ye Hao dropped those words and went into the bathroom.
"How many people will be here tomorrow?"
Gu Yi thought of the nu she hadn’t drafted yet.
"About twelve or thirteen people. I just invited those we’re close with."
"Alright, I’ll draft the nu tonight and list things to buy, so we can have them delivered tomorrow."
"Okay, I’ll help you tonight. Tomorrow a few of the ladies might co by to help, so you should be ready to let them in."
Ye Hao was concerned Gu Yi might feel uncomfortable, so he let her know in advance.
"Sure, I understand."
Gu Yi knew this was customary. Typically, if there’s a gathering, invited family mbers would co early to help, as just waiting to eat would be rude.
That night, Ye Hao and Gu Yi didn’t go out for a walk.
Gu Yi focused on drafting the nu, occasionally taking Ye Hao’s suggestions.
"Military training is tough, so make sure there’s plenty of food, especially at dishes."
"Okay, got it. Your appetite already tells that."
Gu Yi said with a grin before laughing at her own quip.
"Am I sensing a hint that Yiyi thinks I’m eating too much, huh?"
Ye Hao said, inching slowly towards Gu Yi.
"No, no, absolutely not, I’d never dare."
Gu Yi shook her head and quickly moved to the other side.
"Alright, I won’t tease you. Hurry up and finish, people leave quite early tomorrow morning."
Ye Hao was concerned Gu Yi might stay up too late and end up tired, so he decided not to waste her ti.
