Gu Yi looked at herself, drenched in water, knowing she couldn’t tidy up the living room.
Giving Ye Hao a bath had already drained her energy.
Plus, she hadn’t slept at noon.
She was utterly exhausted.
She quickly went to take a shower, and once done, returned to the bedroom.
Ye Hao’s snoring was incredibly loud.
Gu Yi thought for sure she would have insomnia tonight.
But once she lay down, she didn’t rember anything.
Around eight in the morning, Ye Hao woke up first and looked at the sleeping Gu Yi beside him.
Knowing she was worn out yesterday, he got up quietly.
Opening the door, he saw the living room in a ss.
He turned and gently closed the door.
Picking up a broom, he started sweeping.
After tidying the floor, Ye Hao grabbed a cloth to wipe the table.
As he was wiping, soone knocked on the door.
Afraid of waking Gu Yi, he didn’t even put down the cloth and went to open the door.
Outside stood Ye Honglian and Wu Chuni.
Seeing Ye Hao open the door.
"Good morning, Deputy Battalion Commander Ye. Chun i and I ca to help tidy up."
"Thank you, no need to trouble yourselves. It’s mostly taken care of. I’ll return the table and chairs later."
Ye Hao stood at the door without showing any intent to let them in.
"No need for that. Chun i and I can just take the chairs back; no need to make a special trip."
"Indeed, they’re not heavy anyway."
Wu Chuni agreed.
"Sorry, Gu Yi is still resting. I’ll deliver them once she’s awake."
That’s when Ye Honglian and Wu Chuni noticed the cloth in Ye Hao’s hand.
"Oh, alright, alright, then we’ll head back first."
Both had a knowing expression.
"You wouldn’t think Deputy Battalion Commander Ye is usually like this, yet he cares for his wife. Gu Yi is truly lucky."
Wu Chuni said, starting to feel a bit envious; although Wang Wei was decent, he wasn’t quite like Ye Hao.
"Indeed, he probably feels bad for Gu Yi’s hard work yesterday, cleaning up in the morning, cloth still in hand."
"You saw when we offered to go in and take the chairs, he worried about waking Gu Yi and said he’d deliver them after she wakes."
The two were discussing happily.
"What are you ladies talking about, so cheerfully?"
Ye Honglian and the others were startled, turned around to see Yang Lin standing right behind them.
"Doctor Yang, long ti no see. How co you’re back today?"
Seeing Yang Lin surprised them since she’d left soon after Ye Hao started school and hadn’t returned.
"Oh, just handling so things. What were you ladies just talking about? I heard sothing about care, cloths, and all."
Yang Lin smiled at them, asking casually.
"We were talking about Deputy Battalion Commander Ye caring for his wife."
Wu Chuni, who joined after Yang Lin left, spoke out without realizing.
Ye Honglian hurriedly interrupted Wu Chuni.
"Doctor Yang, you’re busy, we won’t hold you up. We need to go ho to do laundry, so we’ll be going."
"Alright then, see you ladies."
Ye Honglian pulled Wu Chuni along as they left.
Wu Chuni ca late, so she didn’t know about Yang Lin’s feelings for Ye Hao.
Moreover, she left soon after Ye Hao started school; folks in the troop said she’d moved to be closer to Ye Hao.
"What happened? Did I say sothing wrong?"
Wu Chuni was utterly confused.
"Doctor Yang chased Deputy Battalion Commander Ye for a long ti but never succeeded. What you just said must’ve been a thorn for her. Besides, her father holds a high position, if he makes it difficult for Deputy Battalion Commander Ye, that’s trouble."
Ye Honglian explained once they were further away.
Wu Chuni understood and regretted her words.
anwhile, standing where she was, Yang Lin kept her smile but felt deeply resentful inside.
She believed her family background was good, she looked nice, had a decent job, and was once good to Ye Hao, yet he paid her no mind. Now he’s so good to a country woman who is nothing compared to her.
On the other side, Gu Yi just woke up, unaware of any happenings.
Probably tired from yesterday, she felt she had a good night’s sleep.
She opened the room door and heard sounds of laundry from the bathroom.
She went over and saw Ye Hao squatting and washing clothes.
"Awake and hungry, right? I’ve cooked noodles; they should still be warm. Wash your face and go eat."
Ye Hao saw her approaching as he looked up.
"Leave the clothes, I’ll wash them later."
"No worries, almost done."
"You tidied the house too?"
Gu Yi turned and found the house clean; it had been a ss before she slept.
"There wasn’t much to do this morning, so I tidied up."
"Ye Hao, you’re like a magic helper."
Ye Hao inside heard her and gave a fond smile.
As Gu Yi sat at the table ready to eat noodles.
Ye Hao had finished hanging the clothes and sat beside her, watching.
"Can I use your office phone? I need to call Wang Yuan to check if the results are out."
Gu Yi rembered she hadn’t given Wang Yuan the phone number; in case of any news, Wang Yuan couldn’t reach her.
"Sure, finish eating, then we’ll go."
Ye Hao said, casually rubbing Gu Yi’s head.
After Gu Yi finished eating, Ye Hao took her to his office.
Along the way, Ye Hao was holding Gu Yi’s hand, and they chatted happily.
This scene was seen by Yang Lin, who was utterly furious.
What Wu Chuni and the others said couldn’t compare to what she witnessed firsthand.
Arriving at Ye Hao’s office, Gu Yi quickly picked up the phone to call Wang Yuan.
"Hello, who’s this?"
The voice on the phone was male, unknown to Gu Yi.
"Hello, I’m looking for Wang Yuan; I’m her friend."
"Oh, Yuanyuan’s friend. Wait a mont, I’ll call her to the phone."
"Thanks."
Gu Yi heard soone calling Wang Yuan to the phone.
"Hello, is it Sister Yi Yi?"
Wang Yuan asked as soon as she picked up.
"It’s . I forgot to give you my phone number here. Any news these days?"
"Yeah, I’ve been so anxious. The results ca out yesterday."
Upon hearing this, Gu Yi felt tense.
"How did it go? Did we pass?"
Gu Yi asked cautiously.
"We passed, and we’re admitted. When the school starts in September, we’ll be classmates, hahaha."
Wang Yuan said and laughed over the phone.
"Really?"
"Yes, the list is published."
Gu Yi hung up the phone, dazed for a while.
"I passed."
She said to Ye Hao, who stood beside her.
"I always believed you could pass."
Ye Hao thought the news was expected.
Gu Yi hugged Ye Hao’s neck.
"Ye Hao, I truly passed, I’m so happy!"
Ye Hao hugged her tightly, gently patting her back.
"Doesn’t this an we’ll be living apart again?"
Ye Hao, seeing Gu Yi emotional, jokingly pretended to pout.
