“Hello, could you please tell who’s in charge of the dical team?” Qin Xue asked, walking over to a nurse after entering the tent bustling with doctors and nurses.
“Comrade, is there anything you need?” The person she asked looked at Qin Xue curiously, unaware of her intent. Qin Xue’s casual attire of civilian clothes, neither military nor a doctor’s white lab coat, gave no hint as to her purpose.
“I’m Qin Xue, dispatched from the Imperial Capital to aid in the rescue effort. This is my work ID. Can you please show where the person in charge is? I need to report to him,” Qin Xue handed over her military officer’s ID.
“Please wait a mont. Dr. Dongfang, who’s usually in charge, is not here at the mont,” The nurse said, with a surprised glance at Qin Xue’s credentials. It seed that the higher-ups were taking this disaster very seriously.
Ouyang Ziyu looked at Qin Xue when she presented her ID. “Such a beautiful woman,” she thought, surprised that soone so young could be so capable. “I’m just an ordinary doctor, far less impressive.”
If anyone heard Ouyang Ziyu’s thoughts, they’d scold her for being discontented. She knew very well that achieving her status was already difficult.
“Alright, thank you,” Qin Xue put her bag on the ground, watching the team treating injured patients before changing into her uniform and donning gloves and a mask. As she finished, her deanor changed entirely. The others watched her transformation in astonishnt, as if her change of clothes had replaced her with a different person entirely.
“Hello, I’m Ouyang Ziyu, welco to the team,” Ouyang Ziyu greeted Qin Xue as she walked over.
“Hello, I’m Qin Xue. What’s the current situation here?” Qin Xue didn’t expect such a warm greeting upon her arrival.
“As you can see, it’s dreadful. It’s uncertain whether those buried under the wreckage can survive when they’re finally rescued. I heard there are still many people trapped underneath. It’s incredibly cruel,” Ouyang Ziyu shared what she knew while keeping her hands busy at work.
“It’s an unavoidable situation. Nobody anticipates this sort of disaster. But now that it’s happened, we must face these challenges bravely. We should approach these obstacles with a positive attitude rather than sinking into despair over this natural disaster. We can’t let these difficulties knock us down,” Qin Xue said as she helped treat the patients, working faster than the rest.
As such, she quickly finished tending to one patient, while the others, although skillful, were slower. Qin Xue figured they didn’t have much experience, hence their slow pace.
Pi Xue didn’t understand that it wasn’t a lack of experience slowing these people down, but their unfamiliarity with handling such horrific scenarios, leaving them unnerved.
If truth be told, they had arrived just half a day before Qin Xue. They’d never encountered such calamity before; their usual tasks in the hospital were much mundane. The reason they had co here was an order from their superiors stating that additional help was needed.
