Chapter 1734: Chapter 1728: A Matter of Minutes
The family sat together chatting and laughing as they discussed matters. After finishing dinner, everyone continued to talk and play around until Qing Zhu noticed it was getting late and decided to leave because the little girl was already dozing off.
“Godmother, godfather, I’m taking Yuran back to rest. You shouldn’t stay up too late either.” Qing Zhu held her daughter in her arms and greeted Qin Lei and Nangong Shulan before leaving.
“I’ll walk you back. It’s not safe for you to carry the child ho alone this late.” Nangong Shulan stood up, realizing how late it had gotten as they played without noticing the ti. She was indeed a bit tired as well.
However, she was genuinely worried about Qing Zhu, a lone woman with a child. There were so local troublemakers in the village, and if they caused any trouble, it could tarnish Qing Zhu and her daughter’s reputation.
“There’s no need, godmother. I walk quickly; it’s just four or five minutes. Nothing will happen.” Qing Zhu declined Nangong Shulan’s kind offer.

Instead, she carried her daughter in one arm and held a flashlight in the other hand, heading off on her own. She was used to walking this way by now, so there was no need to make a fuss about it.

“You still have to work this late? What kind of job must be done at night? Can’t you rest more?” Nangong Shulan looked at Silver Wolf, puzzled.
“Yes, our line of work is unique.” Silver Wolf nodded in brief explanation.
“Alright then, take care of yourself. Do you need us to find you a flashlight?” Nangong Shulan, being reasonable, ultimately agreed with his decision.
“No need. We always carry them with us.” Silver Wolf politely declined Nangong Shulan’s offer. Their equipnt was different from ordinary tools and couldn’t easily be compared.
Given the special nature of their job, their equipnt was naturally the best and most durable.
After all, during missions, if their tools failed when needed, what could they possibly do? While they could afford not to fuss over food, their equipnt had to be top-notch.
“Alright then, be careful. It’s not easy to make your way in the dark.” Seeing that Silver Wolf truly didn’t need their flashlight, Qin Lei didn’t insist further. Otherwise, the delay would only make it harder for him to finish his work.
