Chapter 1761: Chapter 1755: A Classmate Ca to My House
“Keep up, you all! I’m heading back first.” Qin Yu, being the only guy among all these girls, felt completely out of place, so he decided to head ho.
Even if it was just a group of girls, there was nothing to worry about. After all, this was their village—shouting for help would imdiately draw soone out. Qin Yu had no reason to fret.
“Alright, take it slow on your way back,” Qin Jiale responded, aware that her brother was feeling awkward, so she didn’t insist on him staying with them.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.” Qin Yu waved his hand and pedaled off on his bike.
“Lele, who’s that handso guy? Why is he being so nice to you?” Guan Xiaojun’s gossip radar was instantly activated.
“Who do you all think he is?” Qin Jiale glanced at the four pairs of curious eyes fixated on her, realizing that clearly everyone was wondering the sa thing.
“Your brother, your fiancé, your boyfriend,” ca an array of wildly different answers as soon as she asked.
“What’s going on in your heads? He’s my brother—don’t we look alike?” Qin Jiale felt that she and her brother resembled each other quite a bit.
But when she saw her roommates collectively shaking their heads, she began to doubt herself. Among the three siblings in their family, only she and her brother bore any resemblance. She didn’t even look like their older sister. Why was it, then, that her friends didn’t think she and her brother looked alike? It was a bit baffling.
“Wow, I didn’t expect your brother to be this handso! I thought he wasn’t even ho?” Guan Xiaojun recalled Qin Jiale ntioning that her brother studied out of town.
They had just started their vacation, so how was it possible that her brother was already ho? Could it be that his school let out earlier than theirs?
“Silly, he’s not usually ho, but he’s allowed to co back, isn’t he?” Xu Shaoqin gave Guan Xiaojun a teasing look, exasperated by her inability to connect the dots. It was such a straightforward situation, yet she still asked.
“Fine, I just didn’t expect him to be ho so soon after we started our holiday,” Guan Xiaojun said, her only hang-up being this timing. She assud vacation schedules were the sa across the country, so it hadn’t crossed her mind.
“He’s done with his college entrance exams, so he doesn’t have to go to school anymore,” Qin Jiale clarified. This was sothing she had only learned after asking her brother.
“Ah, that explains it,” Guan Xiaojun nodded. The five girls continued chatting and laughing as they made their way ho. Along the path, they occasionally ran into a villager or two, exchanged a greeting, and heard the usual inquiries like, “It’s late, have you eaten yet?”
“Xiao Yu, what did you buy?” Nangong Shulan asked upon returning ho, realizing her son was back. Yet she hadn’t seen him in person and had only heard he’d gone to pick up his younger sister. She was on edge, even considering asking her husband to go out and look for him since it was getting so late.
“Mom, I didn’t buy these; they’re from Lele’s classmates. They’re still on their way back,” Qin Yu briefly explained the situation to his family.
“Oh, so it’s them. Just set it aside for now. When they leave, return everything to them. Every family has its struggles; how can we accept such expensive gifts from others?” Nangong Shulan imdiately understood who her son was referring to.
Those girls had left quite an impression on her. As soon as she heard it was her younger daughter’s classmates, the image of those girls popped into her mind.
But wasn’t this a bit much? They’d visited her ho before, so why bring so many things this ti?
“Mom, we’re back!” Even before stepping into the house, Qin Jiale shouted out.
“You’re back, so act like it! Why are you yelling and causing such a ruckus?” Nangong Shulan chastised her daughter, disapproving of how her behavior seed unchecked even in front of her classmates. What if people laughed at their family?
“Mom, it’s not like they haven’t been to our house before. They know exactly what we’re like here. Why bother pretending? Isn’t that exhausting? Don’t you think so?” Qin Jiale, finding her own stride more and more these days, spoke with a playful defiance. She had a cheeky air to her, making her seem like the kind of person you couldn’t easily pin down.
