"Alright, I got it. When you’re done, call for me. I’ll prepare some food to bring to them." Qin Xue was agreeable. On the contrary, she wanted to bring food to them; if Ji Yan’s health remained weak, it wouldn’t be conducive to recovery.
"Okay, Xue’er, thank you." Chu Molin rarely said the words "thank you," but it was quite remarkable that Qin Xue understood his thoughts.
"You said we’re a couple, yet you still say it." Qin Xue glanced at the man, wondering why he said not to be so formal every time, but this time he spoke as such, leaving her unsure of what to say.
"Alright, I won’t say it. I genuinely feel grateful to you. After all, you always help me; having you in this life is enough." Chu Molin reached out to hold her hand resting on the table, holding her hand in his, to grow old together.
"We’re a couple and should support each other. Don’t say things like that again; I don’t like hearing it." Qin Xue truly didn’t know what to say to him. He clearly always insisted not to say it, yet he repeatedly said such words today. Could something have happened?
"Okay." Seeing she didn’t want to hear it, Chu Molin refrained from speaking further, as he couldn’t bear to hear her speak like this before.
"Chu Molin, did you encounter something today?" Qin Xue looked at him suspiciously.
"No, what are you thinking?" Chu Molin chuckled, wondering where this was ing from. He hadn’t encountered anything; he just felt his wife was so good that it tugged at a nerve of his.
"Really nothing happened? Are you sure you’re not lying to me?" If nothing happened, why did it seem so suspicious?
"Even if I lied to everyone, I wouldn’t lie to you. Haven’t I said this before? Don’t overthink it. I just haven’t felt so at peace in a long time, so this feels really good." Chu Molin had seen some things, but there was no need to mention them; those were matters of other families and had little to do with them.
And why should he mention such matters to make his wife worry?
That’s how Chu Molin thought; as long as his wife was alright, he wouldn’t say anything that might affect her mood.
"Alright, I’ll trust you once more. But if I find out you’re hiding something from me, you know the consequences." Qin Xue threatened.
"Yes, I know." How could Chu Molin not know? His wife’s rules were to sleep in another room for a month, not permitted to enter her room.
So, he couldn’t say much; he could only look at her.
And this was the punishment Chu Molin couldn’t bear, so it was not light for him.
"As long as you know. Aren’t you going out for work? I’ll go to the room to get some money for you." Qin Xue saw him internalize it, so she let him go.
"Silly wife, if there’s something I truly can’t let you know, even if I had to sleep in another room for two months, I wouldn’t tell you." Chu Molin muttered lowly after his wife left.
He sighed, everything was moving in a positive direction, so he shouldn’t overthink and just deal with things later.
Chu Molin never thought of asking her to do anything but always thought about how his family could live better. So, in his view, many matters were like this.
It’s just that his wife’s abilities were too strong, always ahead of him, which made him feel pressured.
Qin Xue returned with the money she had prepared for Chu Molin. The money was in her special space, but she didn’t want to take it out in front of the kids, hence the pretext of fetching it from the room.
Sometimes, she had to be cautious, prioritizing the protection of her family and those she cared about.
