Akihabara's electronics district.

Kenshi, fresh off beating *Space Harrier* yesterday, dragged his buddy Tatsuya to Akihabara for new MD gas. His eyes locked onto a shop's poster, pupils reflecting giant robots bursting off the page.

"Tatsuya, look! Getter Robo and Mazinger Z—in the sa ga!"

The poster showed steel titans from different worlds side by side, set against a burning city and shattered stars—a dream no robot-ani kid could resist. Kenshi's mind raced with impossible scenarios. "How'll they interact? Team up or fight first?" "With Ryoma's tough vibe, he'd probably clash with Mazinger Z!"

Tatsuya's gaze fell to the fine print below. "Sunrise, Toei, Tohokushinsha—not just them." He pointed at the copyright list like it was sacred. "Even *Space Battleship Yamato*'s in it. How do they blend these wildly different worlds? What's the story?"

"Just imagining Amuro and Koji talking—I can't wait!" They locked eyes, unable to hold back, and rushed into the shop, snagging a cartridge plastered with robot portraits.

At Tatsuya's place, they jamd the cartridge into the MD. Rousing synth music blasted from the TV, each note hitting their childhood mories. The screen flashed iconic cha portraits. The opening wasn't fancy, but scrolling story text evoked *Star Wars*. When Mazinger Z launched from the Photon Power Lab, soaring over a familiar city skyline, they were yanked back to afternoons cheering heroes on TV.

The ga began. The first battle hit fast. Kenshi, controlling Getter Robo, picked "Getter Beam." The screen shifted—not a clunky map sprite, but a green spiral beam tearing through, swallowing a Zaku with booming sound effects. "Ooooh!" Kenshi roared incoherently.

In a cutscene, Amuro Ray's portrait popped up with text: "Even my dad never hit !" followed by Bright's "What's wrong with hitting you!" The classic line, paired with Amuro's angry face and Bright's slap, made Tatsuya grin.

They were hooked. Every weapon choice, every attack, felt like a sacred nod to their fandom. This wasn't just a strategy ga—it was Sega's burning love letter to a generation of robot-ani fans.

As they progressed, a new map appeared: "Odessa Operation." Tatsuya's eyes sharpened, zeroing in on a nondescript white transport unit—Lieutenant Matilda. His mind flashed to the ani's tragic scene: Matilda's transport shot down, lost forever, to cover Gundam.

The mission goal was just to defeat all enemies, no ntion of protecting the transport. But a gut feeling nagged Tatsuya. "Kenshi, split our forces. Save that transport at all costs."

"Huh? Why? The mission doesn't ask for it, and the enemy's firepower's brutal—splitting risks Gundam!"

"Trust ," Tatsuya's voice was firm.

The challenge was brutal. The Black Tri-Stars' "Jet Stream Attack" tore at their lines like phantoms. They failed repeatedly, the transport's HP flashing red, hamring their hearts. After another loss, Kenshi scratched his head, frustrated. "Give it up, Tatsuya. It's probably a scripted death."

"One more try."

Tatsuya stared at the screen, brain racing, replanning every move, calculating damage. This ti, they poured spirit commands into the transport, barely wiping out all enemies before it fell. Victory music played as they slumped on the couch, exhausted.

No mission-clear screen appeared. Instead, a special dialogue popped up: Matilda thanking White Base's crew. The scene shifted to Jaburo, where Captain Woody—supposed to die later, driven by grief over fiancée Matilda's death—discussed upgrades with techs. "Thanks to Matilda's delivery, we can upgrade Gundam early."

A nonexistent plot, a man ant to die, saved by their effort. In the next mission's prep screen, clicking Amuro's unit, they froze. Beside the original Gundam was a new option: [RX-78-3 Gundam].

"No way—" Kenshi muttered, rubbing his eyes. Tatsuya bolted upright, trembling with excitent.

This discovery sparked a frenzy to unearth more "what-if" routes. Their next target: A Baoa Qu. In the ani, Amuro sensed Lalah Sune but killed her when Sayla intervened. "This ti, we save Lalah too!"

They tried sparing Lalah's Elth, only pushing back Char's red Gelgoog. Victory triggered another miracle. In the final battle, Amuro piloted the MSV's [Perfect Gundam], and Char's Ziong evolved into [Perfect Ziong]. In the Z era, Lalah's na appeared in the roster, her Elth intact.

Ecstasy overwheld them, a mind-bending joy at rewriting history. Tatsuya paced like a caged beast. "They're geniuses! Sega didn't just mash robots together—they turned decades of ani fans' regrets into 'what-if' routes we can change!"

This revelation unlocked *Super Robot Wars*' Pandora's box. Countless secrets awaited fans to dig out. Tatsuya grabbed the phone, dialing a familiar ga magazine editor. After his frantic rant, the editor's breathing quickened. Verifying the hidden elents, he lit a cigarette, smoke curling as a headline ford: "*Super Robot Wars*' True Gaplay: Rewrite History!"
