But as he stood on stage spouting nonsense that no one believed, most people found it both sad and laughable.

Just that morning, he had been chairing etings, full of ambition and seemingly fearless. By afternoon, he was forced to give his resignation speech.

Tan Xuan rolled her eyes and fell silent. She watched Yu Xueqin step down from the lectern, his face pale and defeated. He walked out of the classroom, his retreating figure looking desolate. Then, she saw Wang Tianqing stride confidently up to the lectern.
Chairman Yu’s era had completely ended. For the next four years, Han Lie would be the sole protagonist.
"Hey," Yin Qin began to mutter again, "Xuanxuan, when do you think those two got together?"
Her words were tinged with obvious envy.
The position of Student Union President wasn’t a huge deal in itself; Yin Qin didn’t particularly care for it. However, such a teoric rise was enough to evoke negative feelings in any girl.
Tan Xuan glanced towards Han Lie—she could only see the back of his head—but still felt it was wrong to gossip about people like that.
"Shut up! What ’getting together’? Are you asking for trouble?"
Yin Qin pouted sulkily, her eyes wide as she stared at Wang Tianqing, ready to critically dissect her inaugural speech.
"Respected leaders, dear fellow students, it is an honor..."
