Today was a special day indeed, and the Wenhuo Road area was bustling with activity.
Nearby universities in the Songjiang University Town had postponed lockdown and dorm closing tis. This left the main street under the student apartnts, now in its third phase of developnt, brightly lit and teeming with people.
"What should we do?" Han Lie, for once, appeared sowhat clueless. "It's so packed, there don't seem to be many places with available seats... What shall we eat?"
Ding Xiang took the lead with enthusiasm. "Follow ! There's a semi-Japanese teppanyaki place up ahead. They use really fresh ingredients, and it's quite pricey, so there won't be too many custors. But the food is super amazing, perfect for a little drink!"
WHOOSH!
Chen Yanfei suddenly frowned and turned to Han Lie.
She perceptively noticed—Ding Xiang was being a bit too hyper today.
Why look at Han Lie instead of Ding Xiang...? Well, because it was smart, of course. Start with Han Lie to get to the root of it.
But the damn man wasn't scared.
My hands are politely stuffed in my pockets, behaving impeccably. What can you do about it?
Chen Yanfei, in fact, couldn't find anything amiss, but this made her even more uneasy.
If Han Lie were the one making moves, it would be better. At least that would prove Ding Xiang hadn't fallen too deeply yet. But now, the damn guy hadn't moved a muscle, and Ding Xiang was already getting herself all worked up... What a complete giveaway!
Muttering to herself, sighing, and feeling troubled, Chen Yanfei nonetheless maintained her composure, giving nothing away.
"Let's go then," Chen Yanfei said, smiling. "You're the boss today. I'll allow you to have sothing spicy and oily."
HEE HEE!
Ding Xiang turned sideways to face Han Lie and Chen Yanfei, taking cheerful little sidesteps and hops, her smile blooming like a flower.
"Sister Yanfei, you're the best! I love you, love you, love you forever!"
"I love you too." Chen Yanfei smiled indulgently and beckoned. "Co here, let hug you for a while!"
Without a second thought, Ding Xiang flung herself over and clung to Chen Yanfei, their hug so tight and affectionate it was almost theatrical.
Master Lie felt speechless.
Ding Xiang, you're far too easy to soothe... You'll never manage to get the upper hand with Chen Yanfei in this lifeti. However, looking at it from another angle, Ding Xiang's deep-rooted trust and affection for Chen Yanfei might actually be a good thing. Good in what way? Well, securing Chen Yanfei ans simultaneously securing Ding Xiang. Conversely, Ding Xiang's decisions will also massively influence Chen Yanfei—their bond isn't just Ding Xiang's one-sided devotion; Chen Yanfei cares deeply for this 'little sister' too. Psychologically bound together, yet physically they can be conquered individually, then brought back together... SLURP! Can't think about this anymore, it's too wonderful, too wonderful! That damned man was suddenly reminded of the combined allure of Xi Luting and Pan Ge, a truly back-breaking prospect... The damned man continued to daydream as he followed the two won to the trendy teppanyaki restaurant.
The first floor was a large dining hall, while the second floor was divided into semi-private booths. A large teppanyaki grill stood in the center of the main area.
The trio was led to the second floor. The waiter asked, "Esteed guests, would you like to sit at the counter? You can enjoy watching our chef's exquisite skills..."
Who wants to watch so stuffy chef's skills! All that kneading dough, thickening sauces, stir-frying, making fillings burst... as if anyone couldn't do that...
Han Lie was about to decline when a surprised voice suddenly rang out from the main dining area, "Xiang Xiang! You guys are out for New Year's Eve too?"
Han Lie noticed that before turning her head, Chen Yanfei frowned slightly, while Ding Xiang instinctively pressed closer to Chen Yanfei.
Turning around, they saw a "Big-Head Bro" rushing out from one of the semi-private booths.
He was about 1.8 ters tall, with broad shoulders and long legs, but his neck was thin and rather long, making his already large head seem even more enormous.
To top it off, the guy had a classic square face with large eyes and thick brows, giving him the dignified, upright look of an old-fashioned, heroic character.
Unfortunately, it was all ruined by that slender chicken neck. Honestly, Big-Head himself is actually quite handso, but that neck of his—looking like a Juewei duck neck—is just too comical, no matter how you look at it... Brother Lie struggled to hold back his laughter, observing silently.
"Xiang Xiang!"
"Class Rep!"
"We invited you guys, but you didn't co out. So you snuck out by yourselves! We finally caught you, huh?"
"Quick, co join us!"
Several other people then erged from the room, waving, calling out greetings, and complaining, creating a noisy, chaotic scene.
Including Big-Head, there were five students in total—three young n and two young won.
Han Lie hadn't seen any of them at Chen Yanfei's birthday party, which clearly indicated their relationship with her was rely casual.
Judging by their attire, they all seed to co from well-off families. Each of the young n wore a watch, and the young won all carried Chanel or LV bags.
Their looks, however, were quite ordinary. The prettiest girl among them would score just over 70 points.
Chen Yanfei remained calm and responded to each of them. "Li Yiwei, I brought so friends to try the local snacks. You guys go on with your evening. Xiao Shi, Chen Dong, Da Luo, Han Han, enjoy your al. It's not really convenient for today. Let's get together another ti."
"OHHHH..." the 70-point girl drawled, her voice dripping with insinuation. "No wonder you didn't want to co out with us. So, it was all for *him*, huh..."
The other girl was even more of a gossip, asking excitedly, "Class Rep, who's this? Your boyfriend? And those flowers are gorgeous!"
"Our Class Rep has a boyfriend?"
Before the speaker even appeared, her voice preceded her as another girl walked out of the room.
