Holly Winslow happily went to greet him and saw the clams in his hands. "Dad, you bought so many clams?"
Then she waved at Mortir Quincy. "Co on, Quincy the Puppy, ti to work."
Wyatt Winslow said disapprovingly, "No need, I’ll take care of it later."
"Dad, let do it."
Mortir Quincy was more than happy to make a good impression on his father-in-law. He took the items and went into the kitchen.
Holly Winslow giggled. "Dad, let him. He loves doing this kind of stuff."
"Since you bought so many clams, should I invite Mom and Dad over to eat too?"
Wyatt Winslow naturally understood who she ant by "Mom and Dad." "Okay."
He then looked at the sowhat reserved Yara Nolan on the sofa. "Make yourself at ho."
"Okay, Uncle Winslow." Yara Nolan adjusted her glasses, hiding the envy in her eyes.
Mortir Quincy’s parents had gone ho today. They had originally bought groceries and were waiting for the two "kids" to co over for dinner. When they received Holly’s call, they weren’t the least bit upset. They just changed their clothes and ca over.
Wyatt Winslow was worried about what the Quincy family would think if they saw Mortir cooking, so he told Mortir to co out. But when Andre Quincy heard him, he just smiled and said nonchalantly, "Don’t mind him. The more he does it, the better. Holly has him do it all the ti, too."
"He does it all the ti," Holly Winslow said, completely unabashed.
Brooke Jarvis smiled. "Just let him do it. It’ll be convenient once he learns how."
Mortir Quincy, in the kitchen: "..."
He was used to their "favoritism."
After the two families finished dinner, Wyatt Winslow and Andre Quincy started a ga of Chinese chess, while Holly and the others stood by and watched.
Just as Holly was wondering what move Wyatt would make, her palm tickled. She turned her head to the side and saw the young man’s serious profile, his eyes focused intently on the chessboard.
She thought he had touched her by accident and turned back to the ga. Not long after, her palm tickled again. This ti, she knew that scoundrel Mortir was doing it on purpose.
"..."
She pretended not to notice but watched her palm out of the corner of her eye. The mont he reached for it, she grabbed his hand and gave it a hard pinch.
Andre Quincy and the others glanced at the two of them. Wyatt called out, "Holly." He shot her a look, signaling her not to bully Mortir.
Holly: "..."
She pulled her hand back. Once everyone’s attention had shifted away, she glared at Mortir, who just shrugged innocently.
Night fell. After Andre Quincy and Brooke Jarvis said their goodbyes and left, Holly glanced at Mortir, who was sitting on the sofa without any intention of moving. She secretly pinched him, signaling that he should go ho with his parents.
That scoundrel Mortir acted as if he couldn’t feel a thing, remaining as steadfast as a mountain.
Wyatt Winslow glanced at the pair and pursed his lips. He wanted to tell them to go ho with the Quincys, but for so reason, he couldn’t bring himself to say it.
Andre Quincy and Brooke Jarvis didn’t think anything of it. The kids could stay wherever they wanted; there was no rule that a son and daughter-in-law had to live at ho.
Their house was a ho, and the Winslows’ house was a ho. It was all the sa.
Brooke Jarvis said, "Holly, you and your dad should co over to our place for dinner tomorrow night."
Holly nodded and waved. "Okay, Mom, Dad, take care. Be careful on the stairs."
They both nodded.
After getting Yara Nolan settled, Holly returned to her room to discuss the issue of going ho with Mortir. "Quincy the Puppy, if you don’t go back, Mom and Dad will overthink things."
Mortir raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure about that, honey?"
Holly: "..."
She had heard from her second cousin that Mortir often went unfed at ho. Ahem, usually, Brooke and the others would finish eating before rembering that Mortir hadn’t eaten yet.
"Honey, no, you have to go back and sleep there tomorrow."
Mortir didn’t want to discuss where he was sleeping. He changed into his pajamas, got into bed, and patted the space beside him. "Honey, ti for bed."
Whenever that scoundrel wanted to avoid a topic, he would just say, "Honey, ti for bed." Holly lay down and slapped his thigh in annoyance. "I’m trying to have a serious conversation with you."
"I heard you."
Mortir wrapped his arm around her waist and gave her a kiss. "Sleep, sleep, sleep."
Holly: ...
The next day, Yara Nolan and Wyatt Winslow went to the factory, and Holly went back to the Quincy family’s ho with Mortir. Andre Quincy and Brooke Jarvis weren’t there.
Mortir raised his eyebrows at Holly, as if to say, ’See for yourself.’
Holly felt a small pang of "pity" for him. After putting her things down, she was about to see if the house needed cleaning but found it was spotless.
She collapsed onto the sofa and sighed jokingly, "I have it so easy as a daughter-in-law. I really lucked out."
Andre Quincy and Brooke Jarvis, who had just walked in, happened to hear this. They froze for a mont, then both of them burst out laughing.
Hearing the laughter, Holly whipped her head around. "..."
Then she stood up straight and proper, looking like a student caught misbehaving by a teacher.
Mortir couldn’t help but snicker beside her, always happy to stir the pot. "Dad, Mom, Holly says being a daughter-in-law is too easy. You should give her sothing to do."
Holly: "..."
She pinched him, then rubbed her nose. "Mom, Dad, that’s not what I ant. I was just trying to say the house is very clean."
Brooke Jarvis smiled. "Don’t be nervous, Holly. It’s fine. Just relax at ho. Have you had breakfast? I can make so."
"We have," Holly nodded.
"Holly, are you free today? If you are, let’s go out shopping."
"I am."
Holly "heartlessly" waved goodbye to Mortir, then went out with Brooke Jarvis.
Andre Quincy motioned for Mortir to sit down. "The house is done with renovations. Find so ti to take a look and see if anything needs to be changed."
Ever since the Delian Community was built, the Quincy family had set aside an apartnt for Mortir. It had remained a bare shell until recently, when Mortir asked them to have it renovated.
"Okay, Dad. Here’s two hundred thousand." Mortir had already discussed this with Holly.
Andre Quincy glanced at the card he handed over. "Keep it. You’ll have plenty of expenses later on."
"Everything the family has will be yours sooner or later."
Before he could reply, Andre added, "I hear Holly is going to be a teacher in the county town?"
Mortir placed the card on the table. "Yeah."
"Do you need to pull so strings?" Andre Quincy asked.
Mortir shook his head. "No, Dad, it’s fine. Let her do it on her own. She can handle it."
His wife might seem carefree, but she was actually quite driven. In their past life, she had been a bit unhappy about having to rely on family connections.
Hearing this, Andre Quincy didn’t press the issue. "Alright."
...
While shopping with Brooke Jarvis, Holly ran into Yvonne Lewis’s family of three. She froze for a second.
’Yvonne Lewis rarely ca back in my past life. Why is she back so often in this one?’
’Or was she back this often in my past life too, and just never let us know?’
At that thought, her heart clenched, but she quickly beca indifferent again.
Yvonne Lewis saw them and called out joyfully, "Holly."
Holly gave a distant "mm," then linked arms with Brooke Jarvis and said affectionately, "Mom, let’s go look at the other side."
Brooke Jarvis knew about Holly’s situation. Although she had never t Yvonne Lewis, she could guess who she was from her appearance. She nodded. "Okay."
It was probably the "Mom" that ca from Holly’s lips that made Yvonne Lewis freeze on the spot. Her own daughter was affectionately calling soone else "Mom" while being so cold to her.
Vincent Vance patted her. "It’s alright. After we pick out so clothes for Holly, we’ll pay them a visit."
"Vincent, do you think Holly won’t acknowledge as her mother anymore?"
Yvonne Lewis’s eyes began to sting. She had truly doted on Holly before.
If Holly knew what she was thinking, she would have retorted, ’And it’s also true that you stopped doting on later.’
