Su Yuanyuan sat on the heated brick bed, cutting the fabric for the pillows, which was quite simple. By the ti it got dark and she couldn’t see anymore, two pillows were already filled, just without pillowcases.
Once the clothes are made, the leftover fabric can be used to make a pair of pillowcases.
The next morning, the three of them ca over. They started with making the cotton-padded clothes.
Su Yuanyuan was taking notes on how to do it. She couldn’t tell they were making padded clothes at first, not until they added cotton, stitched it together, and folded it over, did she realize it was a padded jacket.
"Girl, have you learned it?"
Su Yuanyuan nodded, "Yes, I think I can make a coat by myself now, don’t want to take up more of your ti. We’re all family."
"Then I’ll co over this afternoon and watch you do it," said Hu Chunhua.
After sending off the three, Su Yuanyuan had lunch and went into the space, took out the scissors to try on her own. It went well; it looked like a real piece of clothing.
In the afternoon, Hu Chunhua brought over so shoe patterns. She also brought her so soles that had already been prepared.
She directed from one side. Su Yuanyuan didn’t feel burdened, so she managed to cut out the top.
"Haha, you’re quite bold, daring to cut the fabric with scissors."
Su Yuanyuan smiled shyly. The trousers were much simpler. The whole afternoon was spent just sewing a pair of trousers.
"Your needlework is not bad, just like that. I won’t co over tomorrow; I’ll make the cotton shoes for you."
"Aunt, without you, I may not even be able to survive."
"Silly girl, nothing is more important than being alive."
That evening, Su Yuanyuan went into the space to sew the top, but she was too sleepy. She ca out to sleep without finishing it.
The next day, since no one ca, she decided to go up the mountain.
She needed to prepare more hay. After all, the sheep needed to eat too.
Today was a bit overcast; she was worried it might snow. Going up the mountain would be unsafe then. She’s not afraid of dying, but being half-dead is quite unlucky.
Su Yuanyuan thought she’d venture a bit further this ti. There must be sothing good out there.
And indeed, she found sothing good. There were wild pear trees; she hadn’t seen any fruit for sale at the market before.
Although small, when she plucked and tasted one, they were sour, but still edible.
So the wild pears on this tree were a treat for Su Yuanyuan. She thought of giving so to those three families and the village leader’s family. Although not sothing fancy, it was a token of her goodwill, wasn’t it?
Su Yuanyuan thought since there were wild pears, there must be other good things too. It’s lucky that no one else cos up the mountain.
The wish was beautiful, but reality was quite harsh. After walking for half an hour, she found nothing else.
However, there was plenty of grass here. Fine, just treat it as a grass-cutting trip.
Once she cald down, she started cutting grass.
When it was enough for a bundle, she put it into the space. Only after she finished cutting all the grass in this area did Su Yuanyuan decide to take a break.
She sat down to drink so water and eat a little, lying on the hay, but it wasn’t comfortable. There was no sun today, indicating it might really snow soon.
She still needed to make a trip to the county, mainly to the train station, to check the ti. Having to guess the ti was truly too hard on her. Looking at the sky didn’t help.
After lying there for a while, feeling the wind picking up, she decided to head back. She wouldn’t co up tomorrow, and if needed, she’d conserve on the burning later.
Hay wasn’t necessary either. If things got tough, she could just feed the sheep cornal. Anyway, she could scrape through this winter sohow.
Carrying a simple sickle down the mountain, she picked up branches along the way and collected a dead tree, which wasn’t an empty trip at all.
She had co up so many tis. Why was it only that once she encountered a Wild Boar, when usually she didn’t even see a rabbit?
She had already spent half of her money; it sure went fast. But she had to be thankful, right? That little girl didn’t have a penny. Now, at least she had more than a hundred bucks in her hand.
After getting ho, she fed the sheep that kept bleating at her, then released all the hay.
Being alone was too lonely; it was like this in the past life, and still like this in this life. How co she’s so solitary?
Early the next morning, Su Yuanyuan set off by herself. She had already inquired indirectly about where the county was and how long it would take to walk there.
Until she reached the town, she hadn’t encountered a single person. Walking along, she ate so cookies. It was too boring.
After walking for about two hours, she finally reached the county, and it was just as she had imagined. This must have been a county from the previous dynasty, lots of ancient buildings, though they seed quite dilapidated. Still, it gave off an old-fashioned vibe.
She didn’t know the ti, but there were plenty of people, and it seed quite bustling. She saw many people holding basins; were they going to sell breakfast?
Su Yuanyuan patted her belly, deciding to eat sothing herself.
The life here was quite colorful; there were several breakfast vendors.
Su Yuanyuan was delighted. The first vendor she saw was selling stead buns. Although they looked gray, the sll was indeed very fragrant.
"Auntie, how much are the stead buns?"
"Five cents each, ten cents for three."
Su Yuanyuan didn’t know the prices, but she saw soone buy six buns for twenty cents, which ant they didn’t charge her more just because she was a poorly-dressed little kid. "Auntie, I want a dollar’s worth of buns, but I don’t have anything to carry them in."
"How are you going to carry them without a container? A dollar can get you thirty buns."
At this mont, a big man at the back brought out a stear.
"Wife, this little girl wants to buy thirty buns but doesn’t have a container."
"Give her a flour bag."
Su Yuanyuan carried the bag of buns, feeling quite pleased. There was a lot of flour in her space, almost ten tons, if not more. But she didn’t want to make them now, these could be eaten at regular tis.
Actually, she just had the itch to spend money. The items in the space could feed her for two lifetis with surplus.
Seeing the pancake seller, it was really nice; the owner should have mixed in five-spice powder, as it had a particularly special aroma.
"Sister, how much for the pancakes?"
"Twenty cents each, let tell you. This has more flour than those buns you just bought, costing the sa."
The vendor had probably seen her buying buns earlier.
"Sister, can you give a flour bag too? I’ll buy two dollars’ worth of pancakes."
"Sure, I’ll give you one. Why are you buying so much food?"
"To take ho for my family to eat."
Looking at the girl, who just barely reaches above the stall, the vendor believed her words.
"Sister, where’s the train station?"
"Train station? You see that tall building that looks like a hat? That’s it."
Su Yuanyuan went to a stall selling fried dough sticks and sat down, ordering two sticks and a bowl of tofu pudding.
So honest, giving so much. And the dough sticks were only five cents each, bigger than the ones that cost a dollar each nowadays.
No way. She needed to buy so to eat slowly. But these couldn’t be put in a flour bag.
