Snap. We all heard it .
The sound was soft.
Too soft for what it ant.
Rhazar's fingers had barely twitched—and Seris went still. Her eyes were open.
Wide. Unblinking.
Her lips parted as if trying to breathe, but no air ca.
The light drained from her pupils, and for one heart-stopping mont, she looked gone.
Everything froze. Lucien's voice tore through the haze.
"Serlene do sothing fast "!
She jolted from shock, panic flashing through her pale eyes.
Lucien's tone was cold, commanding—his voice cutting through the chaos like steel.
"She's not gone yet. You have thirty seconds. Heal her."
Serlene stumbled toward the body, mana already pooling in her hands, glowing like liquid glass.
"Yelena!" Lucien shouted. "We'll need that attack now "
Yelena's breathing was ragged, her body shaking from exhaustion . "Don't tell what to do , Valecrest." She snapped.
She pressed her palms to the air.
Every droplet in the field their sweat, the morning mist, the dew, even the water vapor in their breath began to shimr.
Tiny spheres of liquid light gathered from the very air itself.
It was visible to everyone: a slow storm of glittering droplets converging into spinning circles.
Rhazar's head tilted.
"Oh… interesting," he murmured.
The water started rging coiling, compressing until a drill of spiraling liquid ford above Yelena's hands, humming with raw power.
Her veins glowed blue as the spell devoured her strength. Blood trickled from her nose, her lips trembling.
Rhazar smiled.
In the blink of an eye, he moved.
The air shattered around him as he darted forward, straight for Yelena.
"Don't even think about it!"
Two voices shouted in perfect unison.
Light exploded.
Auren and Aurora stood together rged aura blazing gold, bodies overlapping like mirrored souls.
Their form blurred a divine figure with long golden hair, lashes glinting under faint light, radiant with celestial fury. They resembled a feminine male.
Their combined aura roared like the sun itself.
They clashed with Rhazar head-on.
Blades of dark and solar flares carved through the dark field.
Even without full sunlight, their power hurt to look at.
Every strike was a hymn of rage and light.
Rhazar's grin stretched wide, manic delight flashing in his eyes.
"Yes," he whispered, dodging their strikes with impossible grace. "That's it. Show more. I like this."
Every motion was too fast to follow.
They moved like light and shadow colliding, each blow painting the field in chaos.
anwhile Lucien pushed himself from the crater, every muscle screaming. Blood slicked his arm, his ribs burned, but his eyes were razor sharp.
He analyzed everything. He realized that he had studied when Noah used his lightening aether to attack. He attempted to manifest it . Combining the lightening aether with his darkness aura . It created black lightning.
His lips curved.
Lightning is electricity when aid right and impure water conducts electricity. He raised his trembling hands and aid .
"Let's make it count," he muttered.
He fired.
Lightning tore from his palm, a spear of dark fury that split the sky.
It slamd into Yelena's drill at the exact mont she released it.
The fusion was instant.
BOOM.
Light consud everything.
The drill beca a screaming storm a monstrous spiral of water and lightning fused into one unstoppable force.
"MOVE!" Lucien roared.
Auren and Aurora shot away just as the storm hit.
Rhazar's eyes widened just before it swallowed him whole.
The explosion turned the field into a maelstrom.
Trees vaporized. The earth split open. Shockwaves flattened everything for miles.
The light was so bright it seared the horizon white.
When the world finally began to reform, the air stank of ozone and scorched dirt.
Yelena collapsed, smoke rising from her skin.
Serlene lay beside Seris, whose chest now barely rose and fell.
Ryn and Cael had pulled themselves upright, battered, bleeding, staring at the wasteland where Rhazar had stood. Hoping that it did sothing.
Silence.
Then laughter.
Soft.
Gentle.
Wrong.
Rhazar was still there.
Standing amid the ruins, smoke curling from his clothes. His body was splattered with blood not his but that of the students he had killed apart from that not a single hair was out of place .
He looked up, grinning like a delighted child who'd just found a new toy.
"Pathetic," he said quietly. "All that noise. All that effort. And for what?"
He tilted his head toward Lucien.
"How does it feel, Valecrest? All your planning… down the drain."
The team's faces crumpled.
Yelena was unconscious. Seris was half-dead. Everyone else was barely standing.
Despair thickened the air.
Lucien didn't answer imdiately.
He stared at Rhazar, eyes empty… and then, slowly he smirked.
He knew it wouldn't have worked. They were dealing with soone who is almost a god .It turns out that what yelena told the whole team wasn't exactly what they thought.
The aether she had been gathering she condensed it into a small ball. It was an ice bomb . The drill was the preparing was a distraction. She has created it before they even arrived and Seris had already thrown the ball in the middle of the artifact before she was caught.
"I knew it wouldn't work," he said.
For a heartbeat, no one moved.
Then the world shattered.
A crack split through the center of the battlefield.
Frost exploded outward from the artifact in the distance, swallowing the ground in blue ice.
A wave of freezing mist surged upward, lancing straight toward the do above.
The do flickered once.
Twice.
And began to collapse.
Rhazar froze. His smile vanished.
Then, slowly, he began to clap.
"Well done," he whispered. "You've impressed , Valecrest."
His eyes darkened.
"But I hope you realize..."
The air thickened. His Mimasa rose like tar, seeping through the ground, bleeding black into the air.
Veins turned obsidian, crawling across his skin like living ink. His voice distorted, warped into sothing inhuman.
"…I can kill you all in less than a minute."
He grinned wide, feral, hungry.
"Round two."
