After Mi Man’s figure completely disappeared, Song Wen retracted his Giant Flying Ship and headed toward Cloudstream Valley.

The winding journey took him an hour to complete.

Passing through the formation guarding the canyon, he found Guan Lin sitting atop a pavilion, her expression troubled.

Upon seeing Song Wen’s return, a fawning light instantly lit up her eyes as she rushed forward to greet him.

"Master, you’re back."

Song Wen’s expression remained cold as he demanded, "I’ve been gone for half a month. Why is the Spirit Field still only a rudintary outline?"

Before entering the canyon, Song Wen had thoroughly surveyed the area to prevent any surprises.

In the western part of the canyon, a hundred-acre Spirit Field had been laid out, but it was rely a facade—a field in na only, not even qualifying as a low-grade Spirit Field.

Guan Lin quickly pleaded, "This servant is truly unskilled in cultivating Spirit Fields. Master, would you consider hiring a few Spirit Planters to develop the field?"

"If we had Spirit Planters, what use would you be?" Song Wen retorted sharply.

Guan Lin reached down and untied the sash at her waist.

Her already shoulder-baring robe slipped down, revealing her bare skin.

"I will serve you well, Master," she purred, "until your bones soften and your muscles lt, leaving you floating like an immortal."

Song Wen glanced at the figure before him, then suddenly felt a sharp ache in his lower back.

His expression darkened instantly.

"Tend to your Spirit Field diligently. If you fail to make progress, don’t bla for burying you in it to fertilize the soil."

With that, Song Wen entered the largest pavilion and activated two formations around it: the Nine Heavens Spirit Guarding Formation and the Phantom Sea Traceless Formation.

Seated in the pavilion’s main hall, Song Wen began cataloging the treasures he had obtained from Fu Chengye and Blood Scar.

First, he examined a thumb-sized dicinal pill.

This was the Interpretive Cloud Pill.

Fu Chengye had risked the Fu Clan’s annihilation by the Orthodox Path sects to provide Yin Yang True Water to Blood Scar, all for this pill—a testant to its imnse value.

After killing the two n, Song Wen had interrogated Blood Scar’s divine soul on the journey to Great Tan City, learning the pill’s miraculous properties.

The Interpretive Cloud Pill was a breakthrough pill, but not for major cultivation stages. Instead, it allowed one to advance through the minor stages of the Void Refinent Stage.

This was precisely why Song Wen sought the Blood Essence Pill Formula.

By studying the Blood Essence Pill, Song Wen hoped to develop new dicinal pills to aid his own cultivation.

Once his cultivation reached the peak of the mid-stage Void Refinent realm, he could consu the Interpretive Cloud Pill to break through the bottleneck and advance to the late-stage Void Refinent realm.

After storing the Interpretive Cloud Pill, a ten-foot-tall bronze furnace appeared before Song Wen—the very one Blood Scar had used to refine the Nine Nether Profound Fiend.

Having slain Blood Scar, Song Wen had used this furnace to reclaim the Nine Nether Profound Fiend.

This malevolent Qi was extrely cold and potent, capable of both offense and defense, making it an invaluable treasure for corpse dao cultivators in the Void Refinent Stage.

A month later, Song Wen successfully refined the Nine Nether Profound Fiend, absorbing it into his body.

He then retrieved his Pill Furnace and began refining a dicinal pill called the Insect Nine Pill.

He had already gathered all the Spirit Herbs required for the Insect Nine Pill, with the Star Transformation Grass being the most crucial ingredient. Years ago, he had even tricked Jin Xiuqi in Phoenix Feather City to obtain this herb.

The Insect Nine Pill was intended for his three Shadow Gu, to help them advance to the fourth-tier. As a fourth-tier dicinal pill, it posed little difficulty for Song Wen to refine.

Despite it being his first attempt, he successfully refined four batches in just half a month, yielding ten pills—more than enough for his three Shadow Gu.

Song Wen summoned three Shadow Gu and distributed the dicinal pills among them.

Then, he summoned the Shadow King Gu.

The Shadow King Gu was still only at the late fourth-tier, but now that it had a permanent cultivation cave, Song Wen planned to quickly enhance its strength.

The Shadow King Gu’s daily dicinal pill was the King Gu Pill, whose primary ingredient was the Bodhi Spirit Core.

Although Song Wen had obtained a substantial amount of Bodhi Spirit Cores from Du’e on two separate occasions, his supply was dwindling with each use.

He had searched every Spirit Herb shop in Great Tan City, but none carried Bodhi Spirit Cores.

Hong Zhe had also ntioned that Bodhi Spirit Cores were a spiritual object unique to Qicang Island.

This was why Song Wen had ordered Guan Lin to cultivate Spirit Fields.

After refining two batches of King Gu Pills and tossing them to the Shadow King Gu, Song Wen summoned the Nether Fox.

The Nether Fox surveyed its surroundings, its eyes gleaming slightly.

"Master, this place is much better than that stinky place last ti!"

Song Wen didn’t respond to the Nether Fox, instead tossing it the corpse of a massive demon beast several dozen feet long.

The Nether Fox pounced on the corpse and began devouring it ravenously.

Song Wen stood up, deactivated the two formations sealing the pavilion, and walked outside.

Seeing this, the Nether Fox hastily dragged the massive corpse after Song Wen, leaving a long trail of blood across the ground.

"Master, may I play outside the pavilion?"

"You may, but do not leave the Canyon," Song Wen replied.

"Thank you, Master," the Nether Fox said.

The man and fox exited the pavilion.

Song Wen imdiately headed to the Spirit Field on the western side of the Canyon, where Guan Lin was tending to the crops.

She had buried ten low-grade spirit stones in each square ter of the field, arranging them in a seven-star-and-moon formation to create miniature spirit gathering formations. These formations ensured even distribution of Spiritual Qi while drawing in ambient energy.

The process was extrely ticulous, requiring precise placent of each spirit stone. The stones also needed to be replaced every three days.

Patches of the Spirit Field’s soil were already glowing with a faint blue spiritual light.

Clearly, Guan Lin had been diligently maintaining the field during Song Wen’s seclusion.

"Greetings, Master," Guan Lin said, bowing respectfully.

Before Song Wen could respond, a black shadow flashed past, and the Nether Fox lood before Guan Lin.

Guan Lin stared in terror at the massive maw that could swallow her whole, its fangs still dripping with shredded flesh. She stumbled backward in panic.

Unexpectedly, a surge of dark energy erupted from the Nether Fox, pulling Guan Lin toward it.

"Human woman, your strength is pitifully weak. You’re barely worth keeping alive. Why not beco my blood food instead?"

Every hair on Guan Lin’s body stood on end, her body trembling like a leaf in a storm. Paralyzed by terror, she couldn’t even utter a single word.

"Nether Fox, enough," Song Wen’s voice cut through the air. "If you scare her to death, you’ll be the one planting the Spirit Field."

The Nether Fox dispersed the dark energy trapping Guan Lin, its cavernous maw opening and closing.

"Human woman, I was just joking. Don’t take it to heart. I’ve never eaten a human before."

As it spoke, its five black tails coiled around Guan Lin, stroking her repeatedly as if to reassure her, yet only intensifying her terror.

Song Wen waved his hand, and a hundred jade boxes materialized before him.

"Guan Lin, these contain a hundred Spirit Herbs. Plant them all in the Spirit Field."

Each jade box held a low-grade Bodhi Spirit Core.

Years ago, Song Wen had tricked Ye Bing into planting Bodhi Spirit Cores on Ice Ling Island. Ye Bing’s subordinates had cultivated a vast quantity of them. Later, when Ice Ling Island was attacked by Du’e, these cores fell into Du’e’s hands. Eventually, Song Wen coerced Du’e into returning the cores, even extorting an additional five hundred high-grade ones.

These hundred Bodhi Spirit Cores were just a small portion of the low-grade cores Song Wen possessed. He wanted Guan Lin to practice with them first. If she succeeded in cultivating them properly, he would bring out the rest.

Guan Lin felt as if she had been granted a pardon. She hastily disentangled herself from the Nether Fox’s persistent advances and flew to Song Wen’s side, accepting the hundred jade boxes.

"Master, rest assured, your subordinate will carry out this task with utmost diligence. However, the spirit stones you provided last ti are nearly exhausted. I humbly request another grant."

Song Wen nodded slightly, showing no suspicion that Guan Lin might be pocketing so for herself, and tossed her a storage ring.

He had previously given Guan Lin several million low-grade spirit stones, which seed like a vast sum but were actually worth only a few dozen high-grade spirit stones. For cultivating such a large, high-quality Spirit Field, this amount was utterly insufficient.

"This contains ten million low-grade spirit stones. If you tend these Spirit Herbs well, I will grant you your freedom one day. Furthermore, if the Spirit Field lacks any essential materials, or if you require spiritual objects for your daily cultivation, inform . I will purchase them when I go out."

With these words, Song Wen turned and flew back to the pavilion, resuming his seclusion to refine his surging spiritual power.
