Chapter 2007: Chapter 165: Thunderous Voice

In November, even the sun’s warmth inevitably carried a hint of cold.

The camphor tree outside the gates seed also lacking in spirit.

An ant seed lost, spinning alone beneath the high threshold, apart from its group.

Jiang Wang and Jing Li stood with Ku Jue outside the Dragon Subduing Hall for four hours already…

The ssenger monk said he would notify the chief and then disappeared without a trace.

Ku Jue stood with his arms crossed and an imposing stance. He seed more like a debt collector at the door rather than a pitiable man turned away – even though before him was just a tightly closed door.

It was remarkable that he managed to keep such a posture for a full four hours without change.

Jiang Wang stood silently, as silent as a slab of blue stone. He always had ample patience.

Jing Li, wearing the conical hat, squatted nearby, glancing at his master occasionally, seemingly wanting to say sothing but not daring to.

“Ahem.” Jiang Wang finally couldn’t bear to see this yellow-faced old monk in such discomfort, and said: “Perhaps the chief of Dragon Subduing Hall isn’t here, maybe we should co back tomorrow?”

Ku Jue exhaled in relief: “My good disciple speaks sense, Ku Bing is probably out traveling, even if he hears about , he won’t return quickly enough. Another day, another day!”

He turned to Jing Li: “Why don’t you quickly prepare so vegetarian food for your junior brother? Squatting there like a block of wood, dumb as an ox!”

Jing Li didn’t move, only raising his eyes to Ku Jue: “Master, I think… we shouldn’t delay my junior brother’s important matters.”

Ku Jue squinted at him: “What do you an?”

Jing Li lowered his head, mumbling: “I an, my junior brother isn’t here to fight with Master Ku Bing, it doesn’t matter whether the master is here or not. He wants to see Jinghai, I could go in and tell him, wouldn’t that work?”

“You think you have more clout than I do?” Ku Jue pointed at him, then turned to Jiang Wang: “Hahaha, this kid thinks he has more clout than I do! Doesn’t he know the weight of being the next abbot of the Hanging Monastery? Isn’t that funny?”

Jiang Wang clasped his hands towards Jing Li: “Then I must trouble you, Little Saint Monk.”

Jing Li, being a good disciple, received the request from Jiang Wang and still looked earnestly towards Ku Jue.

Ku Jue waved his hand impatiently: “Go, go.”

“Leave it to !” Jing Li grinned, revealing white teeth like crushed snow.

He sprang up, rushing through the side door into the Dragon Subduing Hall.

Outside the large copper-studded door, only two people remained.

What a good chance to strengthen bonds.

“Hey.” Ku Jue suddenly leaned in, nudging Jiang Wang’s shoulder.

Jiang Wang was so steady on his feet, yet he almost staggered.

“Not to brag,” he started blowing his own trumpet: “If it weren’t for the founder’s rule that no one can cause trouble in the Dragon Subduing Hall, I’d have long since stord in, leaving that old fellow no chance to flaunt! Do you know your master’s status in the Hanging Monastery?”

He prattled on: “I’m just giving way to my senior brother Ku Ming, who’s older and has had a tough life, letting him take the position for a few years. In those countries, there’s often sothing like a Supre Emperor, right? Your master is pretty much the Supre Abbot! Now that you’ve shaved your head and entered the monastery, I could arrange for you to cut in line, what do you say?”

Jiang Wang replied quietly: “When I first ca to the Hanging Monastery, I specifically sought out a few believers outside the mountain to inquire about your whereabouts, to see if you were in the monastery… I asked many people, they all said they didn’t know who Master Ku Jue was.”

This fact was indeed a bit embarrassing. But what kind of person was Ku Jue? He had no hint of awkwardness.

“How could mortal eyes recognize a true Buddha?” He spoke with feeling: “Your master is low-key! Devoutly practicing Buddhism, completely delving into the scriptures. Do you understand? It’s like, I’ve told even my hands the principles of those Buddha Scriptures, so let ask you, what is there your master doesn’t know? Your master is detached from fa and fortune, unlike your other uncles who latch onto their positions without letting go. Those fools down the mountain only know their nas, not realizing, the true Buddha is on the mountain, the true Buddha is on the path, the true Buddha—”

He drew a circle over himself: “Looks like this.”

Jiang Wang pulled up the corners of his lips into a smile but said nothing.

Ku Jue wanted to keep going while the iron was hot.

Suddenly, the doors of the Dragon Subduing Hall flew open!

A huge voice bood out before anything else—”Is it your disciple who wants to spar with mine?”

Then, the gaunt, frail-looking Ku Bing, whose voice roared like thunder, ca striding out from the hall.

A good Buddhist holy land, a major sect in the world, with a true man outside the door acting like a rascal, and a true man inside acting like a bandit.

Ku Bing was followed by the clean and delicate-looking Jing Li monk, and next to Jing Li was a bald monk, presumably the current first in the Outer Building Environnt of the Hanging Monastery, with the Dharma na Jinghai.

His master was so lean it seed his skin clung to his bones, yet he was a huge and chubby figure, thrice as wide as Jing Li, with layers of fat on his face, even fatter than Zhongxuan Pang.

“That’s my disciple!” Ku Jue stood with hands on hips, smugly: “So what?”

Ku Bing stared at him for a while with wide eyes: “Who are you? Do we have such a person in the Hanging Monastery?”

This chief of Dragon Subduing Hall, whatever he said, sounded like thunder claps, scaring the courage out of people.

“Uncle.” Jing Li shouted earnestly from behind.

Ku Bing snorted again but indeed let it go, turning to walk inside: “If you’re to fight, then do it properly, lest so people don’t know the imnsity of heaven and earth, and lest so forget their roots!”
