The massive diamond-tipped teeth of the machine spun with a deafening, chanical roar, throwing off clouds of pulverizing dust and superheated friction steam.
Behind the drill head, down the newly cleared vertical shaft, three heavy-duty deploynt pods dropped via high-velocity winch cables, their side panels exploding outward before they even hit the ground to reveal a legion of specialized Dominion Exosuit Enforcers. These weren't standard shock troopers; these n were encased in massive, hydraulically powered walking rigs fitted with heavy rotary autocannons and industrial concrete cutters.
"Establish the anchor grid! Secure the periter for the secondary excavation team!" the vanguard commander shouted through his external speakers, his massive hydraulic legs slamming onto the tal catwalks.
"Your anchor is denied," a voice echoed from the dust.
The commander spun his rig around, his heavy rotary autocannon tracking toward the center of the platform. Through the thick cloud of white stone dust, two unblinking, brilliant white eyes flared into life.
Kael stepped forward, his twin plasma blades erupting from his gauntlets with a sound that completely drowned out the roar of the industrial drill. The violet energy running along the edges was so dense that it warped the visual feed of the commander's targeting sensors, turning the black suit into a shifting, shimring phantom of absolute lethality.
