All intelligence organizations within Japan had sprung into action. Consulates from every nation were scrambling for information, and Ambassador Wen was no exception. He was making one call after another, trying to verify what he could with pro-Donghua factions in Japan and even communicating with the consulates of friendly nations.
COUGH COUGH COUGH!
After finishing another call, Ambassador Wen put down the phone and couldn’t stop himself from coughing.
The stress of the past few days, combined with feeling unwell, had made his voice hoarse.
"Mr. Ambassador, I’ve prepared so pear soup for you. You should drink so to soothe your throat."
A young secretary entered the room, carrying a bowl of pear soup which he placed on Ambassador Wen’s desk.
"Thank you, Xiaoliu. What’s the situation on your end? Any new information?"
Ambassador Wen asked Secretary Liu, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Not yet. So of our allies seem to have obtained key intelligence, but they’re unwilling to disclose any specifics for now. They’ve only told us to wait and that they might need our support when the ti is right."
Secretary Liu said gravely.
"It seems sothing truly major has happened. I just wonder if ’that person’ has anything to do with it."
"Sotis it all feels a bit surreal. Who would have thought a figure like him could exist in this world? And who would have thought he’d co from our very own Donghua? It would be wonderful if he’s still alive."
Ambassador Wen remarked with a sigh, taking a sip of the pear soup.
"Indeed. I hope he..."
Secretary Liu nodded, but before he could finish his sentence...
CLICK!
A soft sound echoed through the room. Both n whipped their heads toward the sound, only to see that the door, which had been ajar, had sohow swung shut.
’There wasn’t any wind, was there?’
They exchanged confused glances.
But in the next mont, an astonishing sight unfolded.
FWOOM!!
Flas erupted from thin air, stretching from floor to ceiling and enveloping the entire office in the blink of an eye.
’What is this?!’
Ambassador Wen shot up from his seat in shock.
"You’re the one in charge here, correct? I believe the proper address is Ambassador Wen. There is sothing I need your help with."
A voice echoed through the room. The two n saw a figure that seed to have materialized out of thin air, yet it also felt as if he had been standing there all along, overlooked for so unknown reason.
And gripped in the tall man’s hand was a blond-haired, blue-eyed Caucasian man in a suit.
"Mr. Yi... Mr. Yi?!"
Secretary Liu nearly cried out in shock, but he instantly realized this matter had to be kept quiet and quickly stifled his voice.
Ambassador Wen also recovered quickly from his initial shock. His first instinct was to glance at the windows, wanting to draw the curtains.
If word got out that Yi Beidou was here, who knew what kind of uproar it would cause? The consequences were more than they could possibly handle.
"There’s no need to be alard. No one can spy on this place while I am here. Now, to continue what I was saying... I need you to help get this person back to Donghua as quickly as possible and into the hands of Wei Cheng. Can you do that?"
Yi Beidou raised a hand, gesturing for them not to panic.
"Mr. Yi, this man is..."
Ambassador Wen composed himself. In his position, he had t countless major figures from around the world and had long ago learned to remain unfazed, but the man before him was a clear exception.
"He is a key figure in the Pioneer Group’s Asia operations," Yi Beidou said. "He possesses intelligence of imnse value."
