The old saying goes: an eye for an eye. But this was a cross-border operation, after all. They wouldn’t just be facing enemies from the Pioneer Group; there was also the threat of other nations’ governnts and militaries, as well as many potential hidden experts.

There was all sorts of modern weaponry to consider. If their movents were discovered, it was highly likely they would be attacked with high-powered heavy weapons.

Under those circumstances, even a Saint Expert would et a bitter end.

While everyone was still stunned, Yi Beidou had already risen to his feet, opened the door, and prepared to leave.

"Um... Mr. Yi, this is a cross-border operation, after all. The ramifications are huge. Do you think we could perhaps plan this more carefully? I’ve already reported this to my superiors, and they’re taking it very seriously. Five Super Warriors infiltrating our country is a provocation against Donghua. We will absolutely take appropriate asures. We can coordinate with you then to ensure the mission is foolproof. What do you say?"

Seeing this, Duanmu Qing, the director of the Yunhai Province Special Security Bureau, hurried after him, trying to persuade him with gentle words.

He didn’t dare let Yi Beidou just leave like that.

A Saint Expert like Yi Beidou heading to Nanyang was a matter of both his own safety and regional stability. If he acted rashly, the repercussions would be far too great.

His current plan was to first stall Yi Beidou and then figure out what to do next.

"It’s as the saying goes: strike while the iron is hot. If we wait until everything is perfectly prepared, I’m afraid our target will have long since vanished without a trace."

Yi Beidou said, showing no intention of pausing whatsoever.

His Celestial Demon Sensing wasn’t omnipotent. Today, for instance, his perception had been blocked by the Feng Shui Pendants worn by those five Super Warriors. All he had was a hazy, indistinct intuition, and it wasn’t until he entered the banquet hall that he saw through their concealnt in person.

It was the sa now. He had just killed the five Super Warriors, so his energetic connection was at its peak. This, combined with his karmic entanglent with the enemy, allowed him to faintly sense them.

If he waited too long, that entanglent would weaken. Or, if the enemy took counterasures, he feared that even his Celestial Demon Sensing would no longer be able to lock onto the location of their key departnts.

Besides, the enemy had already co knocking at his door. He didn’t have the patience to wait ten years to get his revenge.

He believed all karmic debts must be paid and all scores settled imdiately. Only by doing so could he stay true to his unfettered heart.

"Then please wait just a mont. I’ll imdiately arrange for personnel to assist you in crossing the border."

Seeing that Yi Beidou was resolute, Duanmu Qing changed his strategy.

’As long as I can delay him for a little while, soone else will handle what cos next. At least then I’ll have done my part.’

"Enough. Don’t go to the trouble. I don’t need any help. I’ll go on foot, alone. That will also avoid any karmic entanglents that would make things difficult for you. If anything happens, you can say it was purely my own personal act of revenge and wash your hands of the matter."

Yi Beidou said, waving his hand dismissively.

One who had achieved Body Ascension had the ability to travel 400 kiloters a day, and that was just at a normal traveling pace. With Yi Beidou’s physical constitution, he could cover a distance far exceeding that number at full speed.

Even traveling on foot, including ti spent resting along the way, he could reach his destination by midnight tomorrow at the latest.

The night would be dark and the wind high—the perfect ti to strike.

Hearing Yi Beidou’s words, Duanmu Qing broke out in a sweat.

’On foot?! You’ve got to be kidding !’

’Even though Spring City is close to the border, it’s still at least six or seven hundred kiloters away, you know?!’

After all that, Duanmu Qing opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say. He could only watch helplessly as Yi Beidou departed.

"Why didn’t you two try to talk him down?!"

Duanmu Qing looked on in exasperation at ng Qianyuan and Zhou Baiwei, who hadn’t said a single word the entire ti.

’Especially Zhou Baiwei. That young woman is an active cadre of the Special Security Bureau, for crying out loud. What in the world was she thinking?’

"Sir, you’d best save your breath. Just report this to the higher-ups and see how they want to handle it. No one can change his mind once he’s decided on sothing."

Zhou Baiwei shook her head and sighed.

She then chased after Yi Beidou’s retreating figure, calling out as she ran, "Sir, let drive you out of the city! Otherwise, at your speed, you’ll probably scare all the kids on the street!"

Duanmu Qing’s face twitched as he looked over at ng Qianyuan.

"What a sha I can’t go with him. I really need to work harder..."

The man’s eyes were filled with regret as he muttered to himself, clearly wishing he could have gone along.

Duanmu Qing was utterly speechless. ’What is wrong with these people?’

「Special Security Bureau Headquarters.」

Zhao Ping was in the middle of an ergency eting with the Special Security Bureau’s top brass regarding the situation in Yunhai Province when an assistant suddenly pushed open the door and whispered sothing in his ear. Sweat imdiately beaded on Zhao Ping’s forehead. Ignoring everyone in the room, he strode quickly out of the conference room.

He left behind a room full of people who had no idea what was happening, all of them staring at one another in confusion.

Clearly, Zhao Ping had just received news of Yi Beidou’s impending trip to Nanyang.

This was not sothing he could handle. His only option was to seek help from his old superior.

「Kyoto. Within the forbidden grounds of the Great Inner, a place of red brick and yellow tile.」

Beneath a large banyan tree in a courtyard, three figures were seated around a stone table, drinking wine under the moon.

One of them, at first glance, looked like an old farr. But on closer inspection, his features were revealed to be transcendent, as if he were a living Buddha.

It was none other than Wei Cheng, the old head of the Special Security Bureau who had once t with Yi Beidou.

Beside him sat an old man with a youthful face despite his white hair. He wore a Tang suit and a kindly smile, looking just like a friendly old gentleman one might encounter doing his morning exercises in the park.

The third man looked quite young, appearing to be in his early thirties. He had a buzz cut and wore a pair of black sunglasses, his expression stern and unsmiling. He was dressed in a Zhongshan suit with crisp, sharp lines. He sat perfectly upright, his spine as straight as a longsword hidden within his flesh.

These two were also Saint Experts who had achieved Body Ascension. They were permanently stationed within the Great Inner to deter all manner of would-be troublemakers.

"We want to hold the Martial Hero Conference to gather the finest talents of Donghua. They will test their skills, discuss the Dao, and share knowledge with one another. We hope to use the great, rolling trend of the world to cultivate a new generation of young Saint Experts. This will reform the current state of the Donghua Martial Arts Dao and allow us to respond to the changing global situation."

"But many global powers now see us as an enemy. They will certainly try to prevent this conference from proceeding smoothly. Malevolent forces are bound to sow chaos and attempt to crush Donghua’s rising talents. I fear a great battle is inevitable. If it cos to that, I would like to ask for your assistance."

Wei Cheng said, downing the wine in his cup.

"Foreign powers are stirring, and those from the Hidden World harbor ill intentions. I’m afraid Mr. Zhao and I cannot leave the Great Inner," the old man in the Tang suit replied, still smiling. "Just half a month ago, soone tried to infiltrate this place. I’d never heard of this person before. He slipped in through the North Courtyard, protected by so kind of illusory Dao Field, and his spirit possessed the power to disrupt even Ghost Gods. Not a single guard or Warrior noticed him as he passed. If I hadn’t felt sothing was amiss and shattered his stealth with a shout, he would have succeeded. He only retreated because he feared our modern weaponry."

"I suspect he’s a Corpse Dissolving Immortal from the Hidden World. He likely wanted to infiltrate the Great Inner to target a key figure and achieve so unspeakable goal."

The old man in the Tang suit maintained his cheerful smile, yet the secret he had just revealed was nothing short of earth-shattering.
