Kalli motioned for the other students to gather around her so that she didn’t have to raise her voice and risk alerting the governnt forces outside.
"You all heard what they said, right? Only a couple of the soldiers awakened a class.
When things start to get ugly again tomorrow, most of them are going to be in the sa situation that we were this morning. Sure, they’ve got guns now, but how long will their ammunition hold out if the monsters take more than a few shots to kill?
There has to be so reason that we were all given classes." She explained.
The other students nodded, thinking the sa thing that she was. If they relied on everyone else, what was the point of this whole magical hero thing? There would be no need for that at all if the problem could be solved by the police.
"I think that we should start practicing using our new skills so that we can actually do whatever it is we’re supposed to. The ssage on the wall said that we have until tomorrow morning to prepare, so we had better make the best of it," she continued.
{Option 2} have the heroes prepare to defend themselves without the governnt troops. (In Progress)
That settled it then, they had started on the quest, and now Kalli just needed to know what, if anything, it was going to give her for making sure that it happened.
"Where should we even train? There isn’t a lot of open space inside the dorms, and if we go out into the yard, the army is going to see what we’re doing. They did tell us to remain inside."
That was sothing that Kalli hadn’t thought of in advance.
Yes, it would be best if they were training independently, but where? And did they actually need to hide it? It might be best if the police knew that they weren’t a liability later. It would let them defend themselves more effectively, without anyone trying to lock them away behind the scenes.
"Guys, isn’t this a ga? Just train wherever. What are they going to do, they’re NPCs," one of the girls, a long-haired brunette in thick glasses, insisted.
A number of the boys nodded in agreent. "There is no way that this is reality. It’s got to be a super imrsive VR sim. You know the school does bleeding-edge computer research. This is definitely sothing that they ca up with."
Once the words were spoken, the idea spread like wildfire through the group.
Even if Kalli wanted to tell them otherwise, that she was reincarnated and not the transfer student that they thought she was, they would just assu that she was part of the ga, a Guide character intended to help them through their missions, and not a real person.
There wasn’t much that she could do to change that impression now. All that she could do was go along with it and see what happened.
"There’s lots of room out on the field. Let’s go train there? I’ve got fireball spells, I need the space," one of the boys suggested.
Not knowing who anyone was annoyed Kalli to no end, but until she found a school handbook with everyone’s nas and pictures, she would have to wait for people to introduce themselves.
The mont that the doors burst open, Kalli noticed that the soldiers were imdiately on guard, while the police looked once at the flood of laughing students and dismissed the situation.
That seed telling, like the two groups were working with very different understandings of the situation.
But neither of them tried to stop the students as they headed for the sports fields.
"Alright, how do we do this? Like in a row? That makes sense. So we don’t hit each other before we get to try our new skills. Wait, is friendly fire on?"
"Do you really want to find out the hard way?" Kalli asked sarcastically.
"Good point. Everyone aim down the field. One row at a ti, and we can all test our combat skills. Transfer student, Kalli, wasn’t it? You’re always the first to suggest good ideas, co up and show us how it’s done."
Kalli cleared her throat and raised her hands in an embarrassed surrender.
"I actually don’t have any combat skills. My class is entirely supportive as far as I can tell. I hesitated and it just assigned sothing."
The boy looked embarrassed. "Sorry about that. I guess not everyone got lucky in the awakening. But I’m sure that there will still be sothing for you to do, even if you are kind of useless for group content."
Everyone was giving her pitying looks now, and subtly shifting away from her.
The transfer student who got the useless class wasn’t going to be anyone’s choice for whatever ca next. Fortunately, they knew that she wasn’t lying, as a few others had hesitated and ended up as warriors, so they knew that the event did just randomly assign classes sotis.
Kalli smiled. "Well, I am not entirely useless. I can still co up with useful ideas. How about we have everyone with the sa class go together? That way, we can compare the skills. If they’re different, we might be able to determine the reason."
The boys smiled. That was a brilliant plan. They could also find out who was the strongest right now, and they could show off their new weapons from the beginner box.
Competition was everything for students at the Marimgar Academy.
Not just in class, but outside of it. The majority of students were from wealthy or famous families, while the rest were sponsored students with extrely high grades, who were all competing for the chance to latch onto a wealthy patron that could launch their career.
If they were lucky, they might even end up as the personal assistant or trusted advisor to one of their wealthy classmates, which would send them straight to upper managent right out of university.
Either way, everyone else in the Academy was competition.
