Chapter 398: [Terror of the Dead God] [6] [Trap]

[A day before.]

In the resting room provided by the church, Himl sat quietly reading articles.

Most of the articles were about the glory of the Heir of the Michael family.

The guy who is treated like a Saint by everyone.

The man had such a great image in the public that many thought he should be an Avatar.

‘If only I could show everyone the true face of this snake.’

The more he scrolled the more he got a better understanding of people in Kandam.

‘…They won’t believe unless it’s repeated.’

Placing the tab down, he looked at the girl sitting on the other side.

“Hey, how close are you with Lious?”

Helena looked at him. “I am close with everyone but after what I did today, can’t say he still sees as a friend.”

“Can you make him believe you again?”

Her interest piqued as she turned towards him. “What do you want?”

“I have a plan.” Himl said, smiling brightly. “To fuck him up.”

***

“Welco, sir miracle child,” he said, smiling brightly. “I’m Lious, Heir of the Michael family.”

A blinding spear ford in his hand.

“And I am going to kill you here.”

‘Would you look at this fucker?’

I smiled, staring at the man who was in his late twenties.

Even though his body radiated a pressure that would suppress anyone’s soul it didn’t affect much.

‘I have been through worse.’

I held back a smile as I glanced at Helena quickly stepping aside and kept on observing us.

I looked back at the blonde man. “You sure you want to kill in front of two eyewitnesses?”

His lips curled up even further as he glanced at the others.

“What are they going to do?” He barked then glared at . “Things will be a lot different after your death.”

I tilted my head. “How so?”

“The world will know it was you who did the teleportation accident and killed the students.” He said, still having that fucking smile. “Everyone will believe it after all you are a fallen.”

[]

‘Yeah. You know it’s not very nice when you are at the receiving side.’

[]

‘Hell no.’

Well, should we play around with this fucker?

“Are you wondering how I laid this trap?” He asked, grinning widely. “Guess who helped ?”

‘…’

I am not wondering it stupid, I already know that.

Thinking so, I glanced back at Helena once again.

“Yes. It was your dear Helena.” He said, laughing by himself. “Bet you didn’t guess it.”

‘This bitch…did her job perfectly.’

[]

‘Yeah, it’s funny looking at him acting like a clown.’

“Alright sir Lious.” I said, spreading my arms and closing my eyes. “Kill if you want just spare my brother.”

“Himl—!”

“Elijah,” I said without turning, “stay back.”

“But—”

“Stay. Back.”

“…”

A silence filled the place as I stood there.

‘Looks like he is taken aback.’

“It’s good you know your place.” He said, finally moving towards . “I will give you a painless death.”

Mana stirred around giving away the path that he was going to take.

My fingers twitched.

The mont Lious moved, the air warped as he was faster than most mortals could even perceive.

His spear, now a jagged beam of golden essence, aid straight for my heart.

The ground beneath my feet shattered as I sidestepped and twisted, grabbing the spear and yanking it out of his hand.

Pivoting back, I opened my eyes as I played with the spear.

“I changed my mind.” I said, looking at him who slowly turned towards . “I don’t wanna die.”

The golden spear vanished from my hand and returned back to its owner.

“I changed my mind. You are going to die a horrible death.” With a sneer, Lious leaped forward raising his spear.

I responded in turn, a blade of mana humd to existence in my hand.

BOOM!!!

A thunderous sound echoed as our weapons collided.

I skidded back to stop as I felt my hand tremble.

‘He is strong.’

If I rember correctly, he had just reached low-Eternal rank around this ti.

‘Well, as long as he doesn’t open his kingdom I will be fine.’

And I only need to keep him occupied for a short while.

I dashed forward, closing the gap between us in three steps.

I aid for his midsection but he parried my swing with his spear.

Lious snarled, “You shouldn’t even exist, miracle child.”

“Yeah,” I grunted, twisting my blade around his haft, “you sound like every third-rate villain who dies in Act One.”

I feinted low, then twisted the blade upward, grazing his cheek.

A thin line of blood blood. His eyes widened not from pain, but disbelief.

“You dare—”

He was cut off as I slamd my shoulder into him, sending him stumbling back.

I didn’t give him ti to recover.

Mana surged in my veins as I moved again in an illusory blur of afterimages that danced around as I accelerated.

He blocked one, two, three strikes—

But the fourth slipped past his defenses and slashed across his chest.

“GHH—!”

He coughed, fury igniting behind his glare as he began to concentrate.

[]

‘Nah, I won’t let him.’

My body burst forward as I grabbed his face and slamd it down.

“You bastard—!” he growled, panting, aura twitching and unstable.

“Language,” I said. “What type of angel curses?”

Elijah, to his credit, didn’t even flinch this ti.

He watched, eyes wide, frozen in disbelief.

Lious began to rise trying to open his kingdom once again but I kicked his face.

His breath left him in a grunt.

Then I spun, kicked him away, and raised my blade in a reverse grip.

“Let show you where your place is.”

I moved once again as my lips parted.

“Rejection of Ti.”

A ripple expanded from my feet, warping the world around in a dull grey.

In an instant, Lious’ movents slowed—not for everyone else, just for .

He blinked, and I was already gone.

His eyes slowly widened as I placed my blade around his neck.

The world returned back to normal.

[]

‘Yeah, I sense them too.’

Much to his confusion, the blade vanished from my hand.

My body twitched once.

Then—.

BOOM!!!

It collided with the wall creating a crack on it.

Blood gurgled out of my mouth as I panted, struggling to move.

The door of the hall burst open in the next instant.

A flood of pressure washed into the room as three figures stepped through, each more terrifying than the last.

First was Zekiel Michael, the current Head of the Michael family, his sharp golden eyes locked onto Lious without a word.

Behind him ca Lady Seraphina Uriel, wearing a flowing gown that shimred like sunlight.

And then Head Caldus Raguel, gaunt and stern, his presence weighed down much more heavily.

For a brief mont, there was silence.

Then—

“Himl!”

Helena’s voice cut through the tension.

She rushed toward , her hands glowing with a soft healing light.

“What did he do to you…?” she whispered, voice trembling just enough to sound genuine.

[]

‘I’ll nominate her myself.’

“Lady Helena?” Zekiel’s voice was calm, too calm.

She rose slowly, standing between and the other three gracefully.

“Head Zekiel, Lady Uriel, Head Raguel,” she said, bowing slightly. “I apologize for the state of the hall, but… you need to know what your heir just did.”

Everyone’s gaze turned sharply to Lious.

“What are you saying?” Zekiel asked slowly.

“He tried to kill Himl,” Helena said, her voice suddenly colder. “Right here. Without warning and without cause.”

“That’s absurd—” Lious began, but a new voice cut through.

“It’s not,” Elijah said, stepping forward, fists clenched at his sides.

“I saw it happen. He summoned his spear and tried to run it through my brother.”

“Your brother…” Lady Uriel echoed, her eyes narrowing. “The miracle child.”

A sudden pressure almost broke Lious’s knees as Caldus’s gaze bore on him.

“Was killing Adon’s Avatar not enough for you?” He asked, his voice colder than ice.

‘Damn he is pissed.’

“I did no such thing” Lious snapped, pointing at . “He’s a fallen! He killed those students—!”

“That’s a lie,” Helena snapped back. “You planned that realm collapse. You tampered with it yourself.”

“Shut up—!”

SLAP!!

His voice choked as Zekiel, his father, slapped the life out of him.

Lious’s unconscious body fell on the ground as he stopped moving.

‘Damn, is he dead?’

“Guards.”

Two golden-armored beings entered imdiately.

“Take Lious into custody,” Zekiel ordered. “He is to be confined until further judgnt.”

The doors slamd shut behind him.

And just like that, silence returned.

Zekiel turned to .

“You have my sincerest apology, Avatar Himl.”

“It’s fine.” I said, standing back and starting to dust my clothes. “Shall we comnce the eting?”

“…”

They didn’t reply, instead stared at .

What?

[]

‘…Oh.’

Fuck.

***

The three Archangel family heads moved toward the grand round table at the center of the chamber.

Helena helped to my seat, and Elijah took the one beside , still tense but alert.

I leaned on my chair comfortably.

Caldus Raguel let out a low grunt. “You seem rather… healthy for a man who was nearly assassinated.”

I cleared my throat, straightened in my seat.

“Ahem. Adrenaline,” I said solemnly. “Also, miracles.”

[]

‘Shut up. It’s working.’

To my surprise, Seraphina gave a soft, tired laugh. “Truly a miracle child.”

“Very well,” Zekiel finally said, though his voice carried weight. “Let us proceed.”

“Ah, before that.” I said, resting my chin on my hand. “What compensation am I getting from the Michael family?”

“….What?”

“The Asuras gave a land the size of a city and even offered their daughter when I helped them.” I explained, looking at them.

“Even though it’s a different situation, I still need sothing for keeping the church’s asset that is myself alive.”

“….”

A silence lingered in the place as Zekiel glared at .

“What do you want?” Lady Seraphina asked, her red hair flowing as she looked at . “Hand of my daughter?”

“No. I don’t want that,” I replied, shaking my head. “I will accept anything given to .”

Is this woman retarded?

One of her daughters is my aunt for fuck’s sake.

[]

‘Oh, did I never tell you?’

[]

‘Lady Seraphina’s second daughter is Elijah’s mom.’

[]

‘What happened to you?’

[]

‘Oh, we will talk later about that.’

“I will provide sothing appropriate,” Zekiel said, quietly looking at . “For now let’s focus on sothing else.”

He slid a docunt in my direction.

It was about the Dead God.

“Let’s talk about the reason you were summoned,” Zekiel said, his voice firm.

I held back my smile as I picked up the docunt.

‘Ti to suck them dry.’
