As Evan analysed the dragonslayer's power effect, the man in question he swung his longsword and decapitated a group of demons in a single strike.
[You mistook him for a Demon simply because of his wings? How foolish, Aramisians.]
The dragonslayer man continued speaking but Evan tuned out his words and focused on the circulation of Sword Law energy through his body.
Ti Difference activated and Evan's thought speed accelerated,
'Hmm...if I mix this with that bastard Arlan's style and Arthur's manipulation technique, I might be able to create sothing good.'
A mont later, he sighed and shook his head.
'Priorities, Evan. You said you'd prioritise Fire, Destruction and Ice. You're done with the first two; only Ice is left.
After that, you can handle swords.'
He amped himself up before looking back at the dragonslayer who was staring at Artur in silence.
'Oh, Arthur's in battle mode now so this guy can't find any openings. Not surprised.'
Evan accurately guessed what was going through the dragonslayer's head at that point.
Years of battle-hardened instincts scread at the dragonslayer that any attack made now would be futile.
He needed to create an opening.
Just as he had that thought, one of his allies acted, creating the opportunity he had been waiting for.
Danger Sense activated a split second before the sound of a sonic boom reached Evan's ears.
'Gazebind!'
His shield manifested just as a streak of brown light crashed into him, the power behind the attack knocking Evan off his horse.
Spiralling through the air, Evan spread his wings mid-descent, catching himself before landing.
His attention snapped instantly to the source of the attack—a young woman clad in partial armour, wielding an ice blade. With a swift motion, she decapitated the horse he'd been riding re monts ago.
'Co on, the poor horse didn't deserve that ending...'
Evan thought this as his gaze locked with the woman's, and without hesitation, she lunged at him.
Horns erged from the top of Evan's head and a shimring layer of illusory scales ford over his neck and vital areas as he activated his Draconic Transformation.
Magic power coated his palms, and he raised them just in ti to catch her blade mid-swing.
The impact drove his feet into the ground, carving a crater beneath him from the sheer force of her strike.
"Evan?!"
Arthur's voice rang out, laced with concern, but Evan responded calmly.
"I'm fine! Focus on that guy!"
Arthur's concern stemd from the fact that this woman wasn't just any dragonslayer—she was a High-Breed.
Yet even as her blade bit through his scales and into his flesh, Evan maintained his composure.
"I'd run my tests with this one. Why don't you test out that new slash too?"
Evan reminded Arthur of the tests he wanted to run, before turning his full focus to this dragonslayer before him.
'Blessing of Destruction.'
An intense surge of destruction law energy erupted from his body and the force blasted the female dragonslayer backwards, sending her skidding across the battlefield.
Evan briefly glanced at his bloodied hands, green flas licking at his wounds as he began healing them.
anwhile, Arthur laughed and turned his full focus to the spiky-haired dragonslayer he was fighting.
'Hmm...my natural healing is not working. I guess this is the dragonslayer effect as well.'
Evan flexed his fingers, using sarthim to heal his palms before turning around and jumping into the sky.
Dozens of slashes of ice law energy cut through the air from behind but he simply teleported to dodge them, before descending amidst a cluster of Aramisians soldiers.
Another slash tore through the ground in his wake, and he reacted swiftly, grabbing the nearest Aramisian and using them as a shield.
'Huh? Did it just...?'
Evan noticed sothing strange about the power of the slash, so after the unfortunate soldier perished under its power, Evan froze the remaining soldiers around him with ice, then vaulted to another part of the battlefield to investigate further.
"Energy Blast."
He blew up the ground and jumped into the smoke, activating Lethe once he was out of sight to erase his presence.
Barely a second later, the dragonslayer swung her blade through the thick smoke, its edge cutting cleanly as the swirling tendrils dispersed around her.
Her eyes darted through the haze, sharp and wary, but there was no sign of Evan.
Clicking her tongue, she pivoted on her heel and slashed through a demon that dared approach. Yet no matter where she turned or how many foes she struck down, her target remained elusive.
Unbeknownst to her, Evan was far closer than she could have ever imagined.
He condensed a small orb of destruction law energy and threw it behind her. The orb arced through the air before colliding with the ground and erupting in a violent explosion.
Flas and debris burst outward, lighting up the area and the dragonslayer imdiately turned toward the explosion, her blade ready, her posture tense.
But as the smoke and flas rippled, a figure erged—not Evan, but a panicked Aramisian soldier hurled toward her through the fiery blast.
She reacted instinctively, swinging her blade in a powerful arc. Yet the mont her eyes focused on the soldier and realized he wasn't Evan, the power behind her attack dimd, though it still cleaved through the unlucky soldier with reduced impact.
As she had just released an attack, her posture was broken for a bit and Evan took advantage of it. He teleported directly beside her, crouching low and activating two skills.
"Electrofla. Fracture."
The words left his lips just as his punch rocketed forward.
"?!"
The dragonslayer's eyes widened in shock as the activation of Electrofla nullified Evan's Lethe, revealing him at the last instant. She barely managed to summon energy to shield her stomach, but it wasn't enough.
Evan's fist slamd into her, crackling with golden lightning. The force exploded outward, a concussive wave of power ripping through the air as the dragonslayer's body shot backwards like a cannonball, ploughing through soldiers and siege equipnt alike.
Wood splintered, tal twisted, and the screams of those caught in her path echoed as she smashed through barricades and shattered defensive constructs before finally skidding to a halt in the dirt.
Evan stood where he had thrown the punch, his fist still glowing faintly with lightning. He then examined it, his brows furrowing as he muttered to himself.
"As I thought. When she recognizes she's attacking , her attacks are stronger.
Is it an awareness thing?"
He raised his gaze, teleporting high into the air for a better view. Below, the dragonslayer forced herself to her feet, blood dripping from her lips.
She wiped it away with the back of her hand, her stance steady despite the visible damage and Evan clicked his tongue at the sight.
"Once again, as I thought. My attacks deal less damage to her."
He had already appraised her, seen her stats—especially her durability, factoring it against the power he had used in his punch.
But the result didn't add up. She had taken far less damage than she should have.
Normally, Evan would suspect so hidden artifact he could not see mitigating the damage as she did not have any skills with that effect.
But considering her identity as a dragonslayer...
'Damage mitigation against attacks from dragons.'
He ca to the realisation and clicked his tongue once again. Dragonslayer powers were just as nasty as he anticipated.
'It's basically what Arthur has, but the effect against is weaker since she's far weaker than Arthur.
I should also factor in that Arthur is a Progenitor, so his powers would be more potent.'
Taking a deep breath, Evan descended to the ground before her and spoke.
"That concludes my first test."
The young woman maintained her silence, staring at him while Evan cracked his neck and stretched his back, muttering sothing about his muscles seeming stiffer.
When he faced her once more and saw she was just staring at him in silence, he asked.
"What's wrong? Not going to attack?"
"...you're done running away?"
She infused her sword with law energy and Evan raised a brow in confusion.
"Running away? When did I do that?"
"...are you making fun of ? You just ran and used a sneak attack now!"
Evan blinked, not understanding why she was suddenly raising her voice. Then, he thought about what he had just done and realised that from her perspective, it did seem like he was running.
The boy then laughed and shook his head.
"You seem to have sothing wrong, Miss Dragonslayer.
I was not running—I was simply clearing the area so I don't get caught up in Arthur's attacks."
Evan knew how much destructive power Arthur could unleash, even when he wasn't serious with his attacks. It was even worse now since the boy was currently as strong, maybe even stronger than the 'Second Finger' of the Demonic Hand.
He had no desire to get caught up in any attack as collateral damage.
Of course, this dragonslayer before him did not understand and he had no desire to explain.
'What was her na again?'
Evan pulled up her status to get the answer to his question, seeing a na he recalled one of his classmates back on Earth V to have—Tyvi.
He did a few light hops, before abruptly dashing towards the dragonslayer. He raised his left hand and used Elental Weapon Projection to create five ice daggers and launched them like bullets.
Tyvi reacted instantly, her blade flashing through the air as she cleaved through the incoming projectiles in a single sweeping motion.
Evan closed the gap and struck with his right fist, infusing a hint of destruction law energy, but she swung her sword fast enough to intercept both the ice daggers and his punch.
tal t energy, the clash reverberating with a sharp clanging noise and she scoffed, her voice dripping with disdain.
"Using hidden weapons? How disgraceful."
Evan froze mid-motion, staring at her with an incredulous expression. His brows furrowed as if he couldn't believe what he'd just heard.
"Disgraceful?"
He activated his Shockwave skill, releasing a concussive blast that sent Tyvi skidding backwards. As the dust settled, he shook his head and looked at her with bewildernt.
"What do you think this is? So sort of knight's duel?
Girl, this is a battlefield. You do whatever it takes to kill your opponent."
Evan snapped his fingers, summoning an array of golden ice daggers with Elental Weapon Projection before continuing his words.
"Weapons, hidden or not, everything is viable"
After he spoke, he launched the barrage of weapons towards Tyvi and she swung her sword in a wide arc, unleashing a slash of sword law energy that cut through the incoming daggers.
Suddenly, her senses scread of danger and her eyes darted behind her just in ti to see another wave of daggers hurtling toward her back.
She spun around, slashing through the new attack with precision, but the split-second she turned was more than enough ti for Evan to close the distance and launch a punch aiming for the side of her head.
However, before his attack could end in a guaranteed brain concussion, a great sword tore through the air, cleaving the space between him and his target.
Evan's punch collided with the blade instead, sending a shockwave rippling outward.
Pulling back his arm, Evan teleported a few tres away and looked up, his eyes locking onto the newcor.
"Oh wow. Now there are two of you."
