"Welco to Evercraft’s Royal Family Castle. The King and the chancellors are awaiting you, Great Heroes," a dwarf with short blonde hair greeted us, guiding us inside the vast castle.

The castle carried a dark "steampunk vibe," as Alice described it, with red carpets everywhere, statues, paintings, and ornate decorations. The furniture was exquisite, and countless golems moved about, tirelessly keeping the castle spotless.

Midway through, we encountered a young dwarf noble who looked rather eccentric. His body was covered in Magitech armor parts, and he wore oversized golden goggles along with a tall bronze hat. His eyes widened when he saw us, and he extended a pair of giant chanical arms.

"Aaah! It’s an honor to et you all, heroes! You’ve been the talk of the town since you arrived two years ago!" He shook all our hands vigorously with his robotic arms.

"Um, nice to et you," I nodded.

"Who might you be, sir?" my mother asked.

"Ah, my bad! Where are my manners?! I am Prince Gimli Evercraft, an Artificer Master!" the young man declared. "I specialize in constructing all kinds of gadgets using our unique technology!"

"I-I see. Nice to et you, Your Majesty," I said. "I am Sylph Naturia Bravo, Princess of the—"

"Yes, yes! I know you!" He shook my hands frantically. "You’re the Princess Hero who’s becoming really popular across the Kingdom, right? You, your friends, and your parents are said to have stopped an Evil God Cult from destroying the Kingdom! You’re true heroes!"

"I... yes, maybe," I giggled, feeling a little embarrassed.

"It is an honor to et you, Your Majesty," my father said.

"But unfortunately we are in quite a hurry. Your father invited us to a special conference to discuss pressing matters regarding the dungeons and the curse spreading everywhere," my mother added. "Would you let us pass?"

"A-Ah! Where are my manners? Of course, go ahead! I am ever so sorry—I might have gotten too distracted!" Gimli said, stepping aside.

Gimli led us to the throne room: a vast chamber of bronze, guarded by large golems.

The King sat solemnly upon his throne, gazing down at us.

As I had expected, he was an old dwarf with a long white beard and long white hair.

Yet he looked incredibly strong.

Yes—very strong!

He was packed with muscle and radiated an imnse magical aura.

His Aura—a fusion of Mana and Ki—overflowed everywhere like circuits spreading throughout the entire castle.

I had no idea what that truly ant.

But Alice understood sothing the mont she saw him.

"He’s using his own Aura as circuits to control most of the castle?!" she whispered in shock. "And he’s also fueling the castle with his vast Aura...! Unbelievable—this takes an imnse amount of control over internal energies!"

"H-He’s what?!" I gasped in disbelief. "How strong is King Evercraft anyway?" I murmured.

"Welco, heroes! I am glad to see both the old and new generations gathered here today. It is reassuring to know that my city is under good protection," the King said. "Ah, Lady Felicia, it is nice to see you as well."

"Hello, old friend," Felicia replied with a faint smile. "How many moons has it been since our last eting? You’ve grown old."

"Hoho, I am not as blessed as you with the blood of elves to live so long and maintain my youth," the King said with a bitter smile. "Many tis I have wished to marry you, so our descendants could have your bloodline and rule for centuries—perhaps thousands of years—but you always rejected ..."

"I-I don’t think you should be talking about this in front of the heroes..." Felicia sighed, shaking her head.

Wait!

I had no idea!

Wait a damn second!

I simply had no idea!

What is this?!

What?!

The King had a thing with Felicia?

Or rather, it was a one-sided love, huh?

So the King had the hots for my master this entire ti!

Wow.

Just wow! Not what I had ever imagined or expected.

That ca out of freaking nowhere.

I guess it would be beneficial for the royal family if one of them could have elven blood...

But aren’t there any other elven nobles out there? I suppose they don’t like dwarves. Ah, well, whatever.

"Ahem! Anyway, welco, welco, and all of that," the King said casually. He clearly disliked formalities. "Now, heroes, I have heard you already have a plan to deal with the dungeon, right? Tell , tell . I am curious."

My friends exchanged glances. We had never t a king this casual about speaking with people. My grandfather had made such an intimidating first impression.

"Yes, Your Majesty," my mother nodded. "Haha, you’re as casual in your speech as always, my lord."

"Ah, Faylen, you’re the daughter of the king of elves. Do I even need to ask you to be respectful to ? In the hierarchy, you’re technically higher!" the King laughed.

"Oh please, I respect your reign here and would never dare use my father’s na in such an underhanded way," my mother said, shaking her head. "King Evercraft, this is the plan we’ve designed and the map. Here."

The King studied my mother’s plan painted over a map of the mountains and dungeons as she explained what we intended to do.

He nodded, mused over the details, asked a few questions, and approved it.

"Very well, it’s approved!"

The many governnt officials and chancellors near him exchanged slightly worried glances. It seed they often struggled with their straightforward king who disliked negotiation.

"Wait, Your Majesty, would that be alright? That fast?" a pink-haired dwarf lady asked in disbelief—one of his governnt officials, a noble lady of sorts. She was very beautiful.

"Shouldn’t we negotiate things or sothing?"

"Is it really okay to let foreigners enter our supervised dungeons and do as they please—even if it’s to deal with this problem?"

"I know they’re heroes, but I don’t think this is the correct way of doing things!"

The King sighed and glared back at them. "Okay, and what do YOU suggest? We’re dealing with an Evil God here. Do you think we should actually ask them to pay us or sothing?! Are you seriously worried about the items or resources they might get when they’re fighting to save our city?"

"N-No, of course not..."

"I an, the dungeons have maintained our city’s economy for generations now."

"Could there be another way of dealing with this that doesn’t involve just exterminating all monsters and completely razing the dungeons to almost nothing?"

The plan indeed included not only killing all monsters but also destroying any infected or corrupted areas. So dungeons would be so heavily damaged they might revert to re caves if cleansed too thoroughly. After all, it was the very miasma they were purging that spawned the monsters and other resources the dwarves extracted from the dungeons.
