Shara was off in the distance, away from everyone's perception, watching the other two fight the prince.
The prince was at a disadvantage clearly, but he fought with great vigor, dodging each one of their attacks and retaliating with his water sword.
His sword was quite interesting. It could send out jets of water thick enough to push soone like Oleander, who wore heavy plate armor. It had been mostly what had saved the prince from falling to the mace attack all this ti.
The prince dodged the whips and the teleporting attacks, always just a step ahead. It was almost as if he was seeing the future, but surely that couldn't be true.
Shara's anger made it hard for her to focus on many things at the mont. All she really wanted to do was wait for the prince to get caught off guard so she could kill him.
Oh, how she wanted to kill him.
The prince stepped further back, surveying the surroundings. Then, his eyes fell where she was.
Shara panicked for a second. Could he see her?
"You have to help ," the prince said, his words loud and clear, with a hint of desperation. "If you don't help , these two will kill first, and then they will kill you as well. You won't get to be the Empress."
Shara ignored his words at first. She was okay with him dying at their hands. She would regret not killing him on her own, but that was a regret she was willing to live with if that ant he had died.
However, the rational part of her mind told her that she was wrong.
If she let him die, then she would be killed next as well. The prince was correct in that at least.
If that were to happen, then none of it would matter. What was the point of fighting so hard only to die re minutes after seeing your enemy die?
She realized then that she could not let the prince die. Even though every aspect of her told her not to listen to these rational thoughts in her mind, she knew what she had to do.
These two had ford an alliance. So, in order for her to survive, she had to form a temporary alliance with the man she wanted to kill more than anything in the world.
With such a resolution, Shara stepped forward, slowly running toward the person that was closest to her. Jema.
Unlike Oleander, Jema wore no armor at all, making her the perfect target. She had remained at a distance away from the prince all this ti, using only her extending whip to fight.
That placed her alone on the battlefield, away from her aid.
Shara stepped right beside her and stabbed forward.
The spear went through Jema's back and half pierced out from the front. Jema cried in an incredible amount of pain, quickly sent to near death.
Shara pulled the spear back out and was about to attack again, when the whip flew right toward her face. It ca at a speed that Shara hadn't been ready for at all.
She had thought the woman incapacitated with that single attack.
She had thought wrong.
The whip struck her on the side of her chest with a decent amount of force. It was nowhere near enough to even crack her ribs, but had enough force to send her tumbling back.
Shara rolled through the grass, coming to a halt at one point.
'I overestimated my advantage,' she thought. 'I let down my guard.'
Realizing her folly, she quickly got back up, ready to fight again. The side of her chest hurt with a burning pain that was sure to leave a dark mark for a few days at least.
No more than that though. She told herself she would dodge every attack.
Shara saw the whip coming toward her once again and she went invisible all of a sudden. The woman's target was quite off thanks to the concealnt talisman Shara had been wearing.
It made her hard to find and get targeted. It was much more likely that Jema had used a random attack to get lucky.
With Shara's powers, she wouldn't be so lucky.
Shara paused for a second, a little surprised. 'How is she still attacking?' she thought. She had clearly pierced her back with her spear, hadn't she? The woman should have been dead right now, if not bleeding to death.
And yet, Jema seed unperturbed by her own situation. Neither her back nor her front was bleeding at all. The clothes had holes in them and were soaked in blood, but underneath it, there was no wound.
'She healed,' Shara thought. 'How?'
Had that been Jema's powers?
She had no idea. There had been absolutely no report on the powers of any of the three Reapers, so she had to go into the fight completely blind.
Now that she had seen sothing not natural, Shara could only believe it to be her powers.
'Or maybe it is an artifact,' Shara thought. She could never discount the fact that she likely had a power completely different than what she was seeing.
As Shara thought that, sothing happened to Jema's face. A thin line appeared on her forehead all of a sudden. It was a horizontal slash that appeared on the skin out of nowhere and suddenly split open.
As it opened, a fully black eye with a red iris revealed itself. It was a terrifying-looking eye, one completely different from her other two.
Shara didn't know what the eye did, but seeing it made her worry about its abilities. How much of an advantage did this give her?
Even as Shara thought that, she realized sothing else.
An eye on a person's body likely had to be a permanent addition. And from the look of it, this one certainly was. This was a perpetual awakening.
In which case, Jema was bound to have other powers as well.
Shara would have to be on the lookout for anything and everything.
