The vampire stared at Ning with a look that bordered on surprise, anger, and fear.

Surprise that she had been found. Anger that this was the man they said was going to kill her. Fear that he might actually succeed now that she had been found.

Ning ignored the look on her face and continued talking. "Let’s start with a simple matter. What is your na?"

The woman didn’t answer. Her bright red eyes continued staring at him with hatred.

Larissa couldn’t help but step back a little, a look of revulsion appearing on her. "Sothing is wrong with her," she said. "I only feel anger and hatred when I look at her."

"Really?" Ning asked. "I’m only feeling attraction. Is it because of those eyes, I wonder."

The vampire said nothing.

"Ning..." Larissa spoke with a panicked glance. Below, on the street, the n were beginning to move around like beasts caged, trying to find a way out. Even though they could leave at any ti, they were caged by whatever the woman’s power was.

"Release them," Ning ordered the woman.

The woman finally smiled. "I can’t," she said. "I can only control them, not release them."

Larissa pulled out her gun, pressing it against the woman’s forehead. "Then control them and make them calm down," she said.

The woman’s eyes widened for a second, panic filling her body. But then, it vanished.

"You won’t kill ," she said, smiling.

"Won’t I?" Larissa asked, cocking the gun as she was ready to shoot.

The woman’s smile extended even further, fits of giggles leaving her throat. "You won’t," she said. "Because he is the one that’s going to kill ."

"Oh!" Ning said, turning toward Larissa. "May I have the gun?"

Larissa hesitated. While Ning was helping them and was a superhero currently, he was still a civilian after all. Giving him her gun would not be proper in any way at all.

And yet, she trusted him at the mont and knew sothing had to be done before the dozens of n gathered in the street began hurting each other. Without any more hesitation, she handed over the gun and stepped back.

"Alright," Ning said, pointing the gun at the woman’s forehead. "Maybe now we can talk."

The woman’s eyes were stricken with fear. Was she going to die now? Was this the mont that had been foreseen? She took a deep breath, calming herself, but her heart still beat faster and faster.

"To start with, who are you?" Ning asked.

The woman didn’t answer. Her eyes glowed a little brighter, hoping to do sothing, but it failed to affect Ning.

"I’m pretty sure your powers work based on soone else’s ntal strength, and I have that to spare," Ning said. "So don’t bother. All you’re doing is making the two of us hate you more. Which, I’m surprised, is possible for a known murderer to even do."

The woman gulped.

"So, you won’t tell who you are. What about the other six in your little group?" Ning asked.

The woman did her best, and failed, to keep her expressions in check. But the shock was far too great for her to properly hide. She couldn’t imagine how Ning had co to know about the other six. No one else was supposed to know about the other six.

Hell, no one was supposed to even know about her, and they had.

"Give us the nas. Co on," Ning said. "If not them, then give us where Tritus is. Anything you can tell us about him will be fine."

The woman’s eyes continued to grow wider despite her strong attempts at taming them, revealing the truth that everything Ning had asked was sothing she knew about.

"Even..." she finally started. "Even if I die, my powers won’t end."

"Sure," Ning said. "What about it?"

"You care about those n," the woman said. "If you do anything to , they will have no one to control them, and they will kill each other because of it."

Larissa looked toward Ning in a panic, but Ning wasn’t flustered at all.

"Understood," Ning said. "You won’t die then. We’ll just continue questioning you until you answer everything. I am more fond of that than just plain killing anyway."

Ning’s words caused the woman to wonder if she had misread the man that was destined to kill her. She was sure he was more aligned with good than anything else, but sothing about his tone of speech told her that was not the case. Whatever he was, he was dangerous.

She needed to get out of here.

Screams rang out from below in the streets as people began attacking each other without a second thought.

"Ning!" Larissa shouted in panic.

Ning tossed the gun toward her. "Keep her here. I’m on it."

He jumped off the roof, pushing against the side of the concrete ledge to propel himself forward. He arrived in the middle of the group and knocked down the first man that ran at another with a knife.

He turned around and knocked the other one out, only to realize he was acting too slowly. He needed to be faster than this.

His body blurred instantly as he beca nothing more than a flicker to everyone’s vision, a flicker that appeared a mont before their brains were suddenly rattled, and darkness took over their minds.

Ning’s inhuman speed and reaction allowed him to go through every single hypnotized man in a matter of seconds, destroying their weapons and knocking them out before anyone could be a danger to another person.

He crushed the bazooka in the final man’s hand and pulled it away before knocking the man out.

Once done, he took a mont to look around, making sure every single person had been knocked out, no longer frenzied and wanting to kill each other.

Only then was Ning felt relief wash over him, which lasted no more than a few seconds.

A gunshot rang from atop the roof.
