Ning told the two everything aside from the information about Tritus. He phrased the woman’s transformation as sothing similar to his own powers and how he had to kill her.
By the end of his explanation, neither of the two could believe their ears.
"You really killed her," Blake said, not sure how to feel about it.
"Yes," Ning said.
"Do... do you not feel anything?" lly asked. "You killed a person."
Ning took a mont to look at the two of them and realized that his indifference to the situation must’ve co off as psychopathic to these people. And maybe they were right. He was psychopathic. But that had co from years of killing many others, so Ning didn’t feel much about killing soone, especially when they were evil.
Maybe upon death, they would reincarnate to beco a better person.
"A monster," Ning clarified, still trying to fix his image in their heads. "That’s what she was. She ca to kill too. More than that though, I had to protect Larissa sohow, and the only way I could think of to undo her powers was to kill her."
Blake frowned deeply. "And you killed her above River Nissa?"
"Yes. There should be complaints about so sort of disturbance there. I made quite the showing," Ning said. "Although, it was dark, so probably no one saw anything."
Blake pulled out his phone and began making so calls.
"Did sothing happen in River Nissa earlier?" Blake asked on the phone. "Really? Good. Call back any hero that went there. We’re not needed there. Send them to so other location."
He ended the call and called soone else. "Find out if there are caras around River Nissa where the incident happened. See if there’s one that has a view of the river. Get the footage."
Blake then called other people, either directing them not to go to where Ning’s apartnt was or telling them to gather footage from those locations. He also made a call to a hotel, booking a room under Ning’s na.
Lastly, he called soone to gather everything that had managed to survive back at Ning’s house and place it in a storage unit.
"That’s a lot of work," Ning said once he was certain the man wasn’t going to call soone else.
"It’s important," Blake said. "You’ve done sothing we can capitalize on."
"Today’s event?" Ning asked, his eyes narrowing. "You wish to publicize it?"
"What better way to make your debut than this?" Blake asked. "We’ll edit everything into a cool trailer for you, and then we’ll reveal you with your costu. It’ll be great, won’t it?"
"Maybe," Ning said. "Hey, you’re the expert, so I’ll leave it to you."
He wanted to know how Larissa was doing. There were others there to take care of her, so she would be fine. He could contact her tomorrow. For tonight, he just wanted to rest.
Blake took him to a massive hotel and admitted him into one of their best rooms. The room there was larger than his apartnt, surprising Ning to no end.
He walked into the luxurious room, white color filling the entire space—from the couch to the bed to the walls. He slumped down on the bed, wanting to do nothing more. Enough had happened for one day.
"I’ll co by tomorrow morning," Blake said. "I’ll bring you your clothes. In the anti, I’ll have our people start looking for new apartnts for you."
"No," Ning said. "An apartnt won’t do. I’ll get a new house instead."
"Very well," Blake said. "We can go house hunting tomorrow."
"Tomorrow is Sunday," Ning said.
"Yes," Blake nodded, as if answering a question. "I can make a few calls to have so open houses available still."
"No, I ant it should be your day off tomorrow," Ning said.
"I don’t get a day off," Blake said. "Not from you at least. I will be here to help you whenever you need ."
Ning sighed. "Just take the day off, man. I will do the sa," he said. "We can go house hunting so other ti."
The man paused. "If that’s what you wish," he said. "I’ll see you tomorrow. Please call if you need anything further."
Ning waved the man goodbye and rested on the bed for so ti. His mind wandered, his thoughts going over the things that had happened today.
He brought out the picture he had saved from burning and stared at the image of the high elf along with the young boy who lacked pointed ears.
He felt saddened about their deaths now more than he had before. Seeing the burnt image forced out the mories he had planted himself. He could easily get rid of this sadness, but he accepted it happily.
It had been a while since he had felt sad about anything, and that was a welco change in his life. He placed the portrait on the nightstand, creating a dissonance between the perfect white wood of the furniture and the scorched, cheap brown wood of the portrait.
One held a lot more value than the other.
Ning got out of bed a while later and turned on the TV, watching the news that ca through. The events at his apartnt were being posted on every local news channel, with scenes of the aftermath still being broadcast.
He saw Larissa on the news too, sitting on the back of an ambulance with a blanket over her. Her expression was unreadable as she seed to still be recovering from being chard by the vampire.
The news included so spoken testimonies captured by the news crews that spoke of Ning and how he had done so many things. He smiled, hearing them claim him to be a man of mystery. They wanted to learn more about him, only for him to have vanished from the site.
’Did no one see leave with the cops?’ he thought with a bit of laughter.
He watched the news for so ti before getting bored and turning it off. He just wanted to go to bed and put today’s events behind him.
